  • Obviously yes Cottonwood Tree Bark makes a great material for lure making, but I’ve never tried it myself so in this video I gave it a shot. Turned out to have a very nice action similar to balsa.
    Below is a list of some of the tools and materials I use.

    Its not just the material, it is the person's skill and dedication making the final product a piece of art.

    I'm loving the swim pattern. The paint job is the cherry on top of the cake. Yep they gonna love it big time.

    Just found your page as I am just beginning to look into lure building myself. The way you got the scale pattern into that foil was pretty ingenious! Nice job! I'm gonna go binge your videos now. Thanks for sharing.

    I've watched a few videos of making a lure from Cottonwood bark. Each time I tell myself that I need to do one... I NEED to do one. Great job Trey!

      It’s very dusty lol but seems to be an awesome material. I’d go with a through wire instead of screw eyes. I was just lazy with this one.

      @@TreysArt I was just given a chunk of Cottonwood bark that is over 20 inches long and 4 inches at its widest point. Man, I hope I can do it justice. I am re-watching your video!

      It’s not too hard to work with but it’s very dusty and a little chippy when carving.

    I've seen some people stabilize softer material with resin and a vacuum chamber, but that would make it sink.

      @TreysArt  Год назад +1

      Yeah it would definitely make the lure tough though. Maybe good for a lipless Crankbait maybe or a stick bait.

    That turned out great! Are you worried about it being too fragile? It seems like having a wire harness in there would make cottonwood bark a perfect lure compared to balsa.

    • @TreysArt
      @TreysArt  Год назад +1

      Yeah a wire harness would have been a safer option instead of the screw eyes but I feel like it should hold up fine for the fish I’m after. And If not I will have learned something new lol.
