I had 3 Defenders and 2 Discoveries with no issues. I even entered the Ladoga Trophy in Russia which was tough, still made it back home, just.. That said I think the Syncro is best for you and the good preparation you have covered. You have a new follower, as you are clearly not a fool.

I have driven on Ladoga ice road to Konevitsa monastery with my Mitsubishi 4x4. I have also gone offroading in that area a long time ago. My friend also participated in the drive that Ladoga Trophy. There is great nature there and it is much more free to drive in the forest than in Finland.
I painted one Ladoga Trophy racer in the past. There is a photo stored somewhere. It was a proto class racer

@@WannabeOverlander You are the first I have heard of who has done the Ladoga Trophy, the proto class was one up from my standard. We broke our steering box mount on day one, after winching all day and the only reason we made day two was a Dutch crew helped us, their vehicle being stuck in the forest.
I did a "Circle the Baltic" trip in January around 2000 in a 1971 Range Rover, slept one night on the northern Finnish/Russian border -35> I liked Finland a lot, all except your language..ha ha! Too late to see father Xmas in Rovamiemi unfortunately. The Baltic states were just emerging from Soviet rule, interesting.

Impressive work. I can't wait for your next video ;-) At this moment I convert my T4 2wd into syncro so I see a lot of parallels.
I think you made a good decision with a T4. It's a good middle ground between space+comfort and offroad capabilites. Also high production count means it's easy to get most spare parts, at least here in Germany. If you have questions or need help with your Van feel free to write me a private message!

Thanks. I keep that on my mind.
High production count is the thing 👍🏻

    Hi lieber Freund aus Finnland,
Ich teile deine Argumente, ich habe einen T4 syncro, AAb, ein perfekter Kompromiss aus Reparierbarkeit, Schlechtwegetauglichkeit und Komfort

    Tosi asiallinen video! 👍

I have studied what car to chose and I have found out that the T4 will give me 4x4 and comfort and no problems as well ! I have then got to work on my ego and realized that T4 is the best. I have had T4 syncro already and then my ego wanted more so I bought MB Sprinter 4x4 and it cost so much !!! I sold it and now I want to go back to T4 ! I was thinking about Toyota Hilux or other cars like Gazelle 4x4 etc ... but they dont offer comfort. And when I fixed my ego I have realized that I will not be going so much offroad !!! :D

Нет машины лучше в иире чем VW T4.

The T4 sits awfully low for overlanding. I’m looking forward to see how you get over thar limitation of the camper.
I currently have a T3 Vanagon from 1984. It’s one of the early 1.9L models that I had a 1998 Subaru engine swapped in to avoid the reliability issues the old engine has.
The Vanagon is quite a bit smaller than the T4 is so I am looking at what we call Eurovans in the USA. I will be following along with your build videos to see how they are to maintain.

Hey! What is your average fuel consumption on a highway per 100km?

    • @WannabeOverlander
      @WannabeOverlander  Год назад

Hello 👋🏻🤠 It is somewhere around 7 litres per 100km.
Standard fuel tank you don’t need never consider fill up unless driven 800km. Of course if there’s gas stations.
