It is not a treasure group that no one else can be a part of. Music is music, Black people have helped create country music along with many other types of music, the blues, rock ‘n’ roll, hip-hop and most importantly country. We are Americans we all love music and we should all share in the joy that is music. Can I get an amen!

    I’m glad they didn’t have this attitude when Ray Charles was making an R&B album one year in a country album the next year! And all the racist comments that came after the Dixie Chicks and Beyoncé performed just goes to show you that it’s just a bunch of racism. Seems like country music has forgotten that they have African-American fans. If they weren’t so busy gatekeeping, they could probably have a whole lot more. But I guess that’s not what they want. I guess the priority is to keep country music white. If it weren’t, then there wouldn’t have been a bunch of racist backlash from that performance! Personally I thought Beyoncé did a fine job with that song and that all of their voices blended very nicely together.

    As a person whose favorite music is traditional country, country music is by far at its best when it’s not confined to something extremely narrow. There is honky tonk, bluegrass, western, bluesy country, rock 70s country, pop country and others, and they’re all country. Country music is a broad genre. And just to remind everyone, country came DIRECTLY from blues and jazz along the Mississippi (which was black people) and not much is said about that in the history books. The entire point of music is that it is art and not to be confined to something that’s already been thought of before.

    • @kevind1650
      @kevind1650 2 года назад +1

      Your statement is not quite accurate. Clearly country music over the years has been influenced by blues, just like blues music was influenced by several other cultural music before it was called "blues." But it in no way "comes DIRECTLY from blues and jazz." The actual term "country" and "western" music first started being used in the 1930's and 40's, and most of it came directly from bluegrass music, which came directly from the Appalachian mountain music, which came directly from Scottish and Irish traditional music from Europe (yes the evil white man made music too, and long,long,long before blues and jazz hit the scene). One of the reasons the radio stations used to label rural styles of music in the 30's and 40's as "country" was to distinguish it from more popular urban styles of the day like jazz. Of course, country in the 1940s is far different than what is called country today. Today's country is more akin to 80's pop and southern rock than it is to traditional country, which just proves how pointless it is to argue who invented such and such kind of music. No music or any other art form exists in a vaccuum. Contemporaries influence each other.

    Let's be real, the reason country music has grown not because its remained traditional, but because it has continually taken from other genres of music to appeal to a wider fan base. If you want to talk traditional country music, then you'd be strictly bluegrass just banjos and blow jars poppin' and you wouldn't have Carrie Underwood, Taylor Swift, Blake, etc...he'll you wouldn't have any of the artists that are actually selling out stadiums because they are not traditional...and you were strictly racially motivated by your remarks about beyonce's involvement because if not you wouldn't have made the slick remarks about country singers being at the BET awards as if they're not allowed. There have been several country artist who have been in videos with RNb and hip hop artists whose videos have played on BET even staying at the top of the video and radio charts , not to mention even been up for awards, I.e. Tim McGraw and Nelly "over and over"...if you do nothing else, do some research before you make asinine remarks like that for the whole world to see.

    Wowww…. & I liked a few of ur songs before I watched this… Beyoncè’s song was a “country” song!!!
    It’s crazy because where did country begin in history?? It wasn’t white people, it was people of color who started real country music & who the hell cares what color someone is or what “genre” they’re classified to be in, at the end of the day an artist is an artist… an artist can do any song, genre or project that they want to. People get too comfortable disconnecting, classifying & separating music but music is music. If a singer accepts a role in a big hit movie they’re not all of a sudden just an actor/actress…. They’re artists & art comes in many colors & many ways. The entertainment industry is all about artists… actors, singers, rappers, voice overs, storytellers… nobody discriminates what form of art you do when classifying whether ur in the entertainment business because artists are artists. It’s all just art.

She ddnt show up there on her own. Secondly, take a look at the country charts and tell me that doesnt require innovation or fresh music. Its all bro country. There are barely any women forget black women. Black ppl literally created the banjo that plays so prominently in country songs. Blues, soul, gospel all relate to country genre and who created those genres? Black ppl. Now what does that tell us about these old white men getting angry about this topic? Everyone knows country music listeners are bigoted and small minded. He is proving it just like Alan did.
