Best of luck to Carrie! She’s worked real hard and put out some real country songs, with doing all that and having a family. Women are taken for granted as to how much we have to do and be responsible for in life. I think she’s doing the right thing. I think she has put her time in.

Carrie has many more years to win the EOTY awards and I'm sure she will. It just wasn't her time. And she will probably win more than one. In my opinion she's far better than Taylor Swift. But as I've been saying all along, award shows are becoming a big joke. All of them.

I think Billy Dukes said part of it, right. Of course, he doesn't want country radio stations mad at him. Country radio have always been pissed at Carrie for coming into country music the way she did. Country radio didn't want a reality show singer to be as good as Carrie is. Carrie was able to bust all the barriers country radio put out there to stop reality show singers. First album Carrie put out there was a chart buster in very regards. Plus of her singles on that album went no. 1. Her first album went no. 1. Country radio couldn't stop her, when she had all no.1 singles.

The main reason, CMA wanted Carrie as host of CMA, after CMA calmed down from Carrie out of reality show. Carrie has extremely big fan base and CMA wanted to capitalize on that fan base. I don't think Kelsea or Thomas have a huge fan base as Carrie has. So this year, CMA's ratings are going to take huge hit.
Things need to change you know. She hosted the show for over a decade and I think she needs to step down to give other country artist a chance.

robert gardell You’re blaming the wrong people. It’s the voters that should be getting blamed not the CMAs who can’t control how people vote.
I am blaming the right people. Country music radio stations are the board members and they vote who wins CMA awards. CMAs didn't want Carrie in the first place, because she was a reality show winner. They can't control her. They want complete control of the artists.

Radio people are still pissed at Carrie. Radio people want to own country artists. And with Carrie they never had a chance to do. They didn't a reality show singer to make it big in country radio. Fans force the issue with Carrie. Fans said either accept Carrie onto country radio or have your station be boycott. And since country radio couldn't afford a boycott. They played Carrie's songs and country radio got the surprise of their lives. Carrie's songs hit the top of the charts.

Everybody is for getting something. Country radio didn't want Carrie in country music to begin with. Fans said let Carrie into country music or we won't listen to your stations at all. Country radio stations couldn't afford that, in an shape or form. I think Garth winning is country radio revenge to Carrie.

Carrie is starting to age out like Faith and Martina. Even though Shania has her Las Vegas residency, she hasn’t put out any great music in a long time. Carrie is smart to get her fitness empire going to fall back on. Women just don’t do as well later on in the entertainment/stage/screen as men.

A sad comment from someone who doesn't recognize all Carrie has done for country music. She has represented the genre with class and a strong work ethic. Unlike many that are Opry members, no matter how busy she is, her commitment is filled each year. The seats are always filled when Carrie performs. One of the greatest things about the Opry is that they do represent all ages of country music. I am 70, old enough to remember when it was cowboy music and square dance music. Each decade has changed a little but God, family and a story of life as we see it is what makes country music. Funny you mention Garth ,I love Garth and have his music and go to his concerts but he has often been called a sellout. He was too pop on many songs to please some. Box sets constantly to get the big numbers of individual record sales...remember the Chris Gaines album? They are both talented entertainers and while you may dislike Carrie, she has not sold out. She has brought many people to the genre, like Garth that never would have listened to the rest of country music had they not drawn new people in. Without new and different talent, country music would have died a long time ago because the young are what spend the money. Carrie has also done much to lift up talented women just beginning. She is also one of the best vocalists out there and her songwriting is growing with each album. I guess you can not please everyone and you are only speaking from one person's perspective.
