  • Macdon FD1 vs Claas Convio Drapers | Vlog #9
With home schooling starting this week, I wasn't given much opportunity to take any video for a Vlog. Instead, I decided to put a comparison video together of the 2 models of drapers I sell with the Claas Lexion combines. Both, the MacDon FD1 and Claas Convio drapers have be tremendous heads for my customers. Here is how they work, and how I decide which one fits a customer best.
Claas Convio video and animations are provided by Claas North America.
Macdon FD1 video and animations are provided by Macdon Industries
Both companies were contacted and gave me direct approval to use in this video. Thank you to you both!
If you enjoy the video please consider liking and subscribing to the channel. I will try to continue the routine of new videos every Wednesday and Saturday.
    Thanks for watching!

    Great video , Jeremy!
Regarding the home schooling, my wife and I both feel for all those who are doing this. This too, will end, someday!

Thanks Ron49C! Glad you liked it. I am certainly not the only one dealing with home schooling but it sure sucks. Just saw a note that there’s an announcement at 3:00 about back to school here in Ontario. Speculation is they won’t be back next week either. 🤪.

In the UK a farmer is classed as a key worker so kids can go to school our boy is there for 2 days a week as the wife is at home, I'm glad hes 6 not 16 and doing moments or such technical maths. Great Video very well explained many thanks Hedley

Same here. I am a sales rep so still classed somewhat essential but don't push the issue too much with no equipment running that I need to support. Thanks very much for the comment!

Great valid vid on header fronts, if I had Claas combine I would go with convio easier setup but been happy with Macdon, even look at Honeybee like Mike Mitchell.

Thanks Jamie, I've been very happy with both heads for my customers. Hard to pick most days. The Honeybee is a good head as well but have no dealer presence here in Ontario which makes it hard for service and parts.

Running a Honeybee airflex AF240 on a 760 Claas. Would love to run the Claas Convio. Looks a lot more simple than the honeybee. Especially the drive system.

What are The Options for Length on The Unload Auger? How many Feet/Meters are they? I have looked on Claas’s Website and can’t find it anywhere, what the Length Options are for The Unloading Auger.

For a 40 ft head I usually do 29 ft augers. They will also work for a 45 ft head but the next size up at 32ft makes things a bit easier

@@jeremynoble1452 I Appreciate the Reply. Claas doesn’t List Auger Lengths anywhere on their Website or in The Brochures, is 29’ The Smallest/Shortest Length Auger that is available? I heard they maybe Offering a 35’ Auger here in the Future, I think that would be Nice since they are Offering 50’ Draper Heads Now, from Macdon & Honeybee, & 40-44’+ Corn Heads from Gerringhoff and Others.

You missed the contour buddy on the Macdon, makes harvesting cereals a dream. You'd have a tough time to get me to go back to a claas header.

Ya we have never had a use for it over here yet. Not enough grain grown to need to look at it I guess? The gauge wheels do what we need for now. Good to hear that its working for you though! Thanks for the comment!
