Me & the Pubcast boys found the path up the hill opposite the Bucchaille. Gary named it “The Bastard” as in “I’m not climbing that bastard”! Epic views from there. You were right 😊👍🏻
@@fototripper @dgriffgallery What Dave failed to mention was the key to climbing the 'bastard' has to be preceded by 4 pints of the local ale and a huge burger & chips. Then its easy 🙂
You should ask Murray (@scotlandsmountains) for directions up Stob Beinn a'Chrulaiste; it's his favourite location at Glen Coe. There is no path; you need to do some bog trotting at times near the bottom and make your way up slowly. One for next time, but before May, and after September to avoid the midge would be best. Cracking shots - mood central!! Ian
Brilliant video. That light is more often than not like that here. Oohhh the lights rays. To get up to beinn a chrulaiste (opposite the Buachaille you need to walk towards the ski centre until you get to a gate then hug the right hand side of the fence and follow the track. I did a video three months ago (best location in Britain). The last waterfall is called The tears of Glencoe (glen of weeping after this waterfall). Or Elliot’s downfall after the family who use to live in the cottage. Great Castle Stalker. It’s owned by a family down south . I have been in it and it looks a bit 1970’s I am afraid.
This Scotland trip is turning out to be a belter! You go out in some horrendous weather and are rewarded with stunning shots, Kudos Gavin. Keep em coming👌
The Scottish highlands are magical whatever the weather and even with the midges and ticks it produces some heavenly scenery. I need to get back up there..
brilliant stuff, 3 sisters shot was a belter. ps i think thats the hill murray always camps on, theres no path just a vertical bog swamp all the way up
The production gets better and better. I'm almost inclined to get the Photoshop for Morons guide after seeing the Castle Stalker image. Great stuff Gavin.
Went to Glencoe with the wife in 2019 and we had heavy rain for 2 weeks straight. Got soaked every day but it was one of the best trips I've ever done. Thanks for the great content. It got me hyped and now I'm already planning the next Scotland trip :D
I love seeing your work in Scotland... My story: My wife and I's honeymoon involved Scotland 25 years ago. The day we landed is the day my old Minolta camera died. Being young and stupid I didn't go buy a new camera while there. So, I spent 17 days in Scotland without taking a single photograph (no camera phones existed then). One day I'll get back there. Till then, I'll have at least your videos to warm the soul. Thanks for what you do Gavin!
Gavin, you are in Scotland. We have 'right to roam'. You don't need a trail, just point yourself in the right direction and wade through the heather! BTW I think that's the "Devil's Staircase" you were on, part of the busiest long-distance trail in the UK...
I just ordered a Nisi 10 stop ND and then what you said I'm still using it for situations like this. You may have photoshopped the 💩out of it, but what a spectacular shot!
Looks like you wanted to go up Beinn a’Chrulaiste - how you managed not to follow the track I don’t know. If your stuck there just ask Heaton, he Ken’s the way up! Beautiful brilliant shots…… need to get a copy of “Photoshop for Morons” presumably presented by a top class Moron 😉 Hope you guys are having a great time, get yourself some “fruit dumpling/pudding” with your Brekky… it is a game changer! Loved this . Roy is class act…….
The hill you were trying to get up is Beinn a' Chrulaiste which has a track and guides galore on how to find it. However, for the the best view of Glencoe you need to scramble up the side of it on a feature known as Pink Rib. Quite a bit of effort but loads of fun and a special, special viewpoint.
We’re Aussies who’ve just returned from a month driving around the Scottish highlands and Skye, so we can relate to your wonderful vlog. It rained every day bar 3, so we understand your frustration with the rain. However it produced some wonderfully atmospheric and ethereal images. Besides, you don’t get all that green without a lot of rain.
Gavin, Gavin, I must protest: in Scotland we have rivers and burns, the only creaks are from your knees because you're not wearing thick socks with your waders, ye daft wazzock. Please remedy forthwith! Also rub your knees with goosefat grease, or castor oil, or something to stop that noisy creaking. Carry on!
Wowzers Gavin, epic light. Must find that area in Glencoe next time I visit. I too have had breakfast and stayed in the Ballachulish Hotel...very good! Have a good trip home.
The first three Glencoe images are stunning. Some of your best ever I would suggest. As Scotland has a right to roam you don't need to worry about a trail. Although you're not supposed to climb over or through fences!
Great to see you back in Scotland Gavin ...and to my favourite place on earth, Glencoe. I try to get up there at least once a month...during tourist season it's made difficult by the numpty drivers😉 You got it right, rain and sunshine makes it look spectacular....and winter..🥰 Great shots too😁👍
That photo is bloody stunning Gavin, thats defiantly the conditions that push all the buttons for me too...reminded me the last year in Rydal water, i didn't know where to point my camera, weird and wonderful effects of light everywhere, the multiple photogasms can mess with ya judgment at times like that. great stuff.
Great story! I am sure that the drone footage showed a truly incredible angle of this place! And yes! Perhaps there are also angles from the castle itself that are different from those that can be found! Thank you ,Gavin!
Great sense of honesty. No ten stops to fake it. I'm not a pro but I take your word for it. I might till get to Scotland one of these days. It would be worth it.
M8 the Light was directly in your eyes my friend she is lovely as well as Glencoe which I have shot a few times my self cheers nice video Troy @troypointerphotphraphy❤❤
Jump the fence and streight up the hill, its boggy as hell. Got one of my best shots of the Buachille from up there. Climbed up in freezing fog and snow showeres at 6am. Was gifted with an amazing sunrise , cloud inversion and one of yhe best images ive taken that morning. Well worth the effort. Great video
@fototripper I'm surprised that Amanda is still letting you use her Hasselblad. Oops. Just read the intro and see that this one is Roy's. Now they have one each you'll need to get one for yourself! I'm a bit of a mongrel (do people still talk about dogs as "bitsas"?) although I'm predominantly Scottish and my name is Scottish, courtesy of the Vikings, I believe. My appreciation of Scotland is vicarious, through your channel and various others from names I dare not repeat, as I'll almost certainly never make it back to that side of the world. Great images as usual and I enjoy the tips mixed in with the banter.
Lovely images Gavin. You are right in saying jump over the fence and just head up the hill. Once you get over the fence at the roadside, keep heading up the hill and u will reach another fence, hop over it and there is a path from there. I usually just head straight up though, it's just as quick as following the path muddy path 👌👍
Hi Gavin: I am really enjoying seeing your videos from Scotland. We had planned to go to Scotland in the spring of 2021 but we had to post-pone because my wife was having surgery. You captured some amazing images so I am looking forward to seeing the last video in this series. Keep well . . . . Keith Pinn (Barrie, Ontario)
Well done Gavin, Glencoe is some place eh, i go there quite a lot, the last trip was up to the Hidden Valley. It had rained for a couple of days before hand and the waterfalls were just stunning. I get the sense that the place has a soul and it always takes my breath away driving through there. As for the tussle between yourself and Thomas Heaton,i think you'll take him😂
This is fantastic Gavin. Sometimes I wonder why I left Scotland but it was the heat I was searching for. Although I miss the mountains as there’s none here. Well done again 👌👌👌👌👌👌
As I say Gary, I always look forward to Sunday evenings to see if you have uploaded anything. Tonite was no exception, I even put a recording of Songs of Praise on hold to watch your video. As always you captured some great images and tbh I’d like to see more of `Scotland thro your lens. One question I have is why didn’t you take Roy along to advise on locations and routes and of course Roy’s in depth technical advice…..just a thought.
That first light beam shot in GC...stunning. its a bit of a painful trip from Lincolnshire/Yorkshire but it's one of the most rewarding places for photography, apart from that is Cleethorpes, a Gavin 😂. Many thanks for sharing your photographic travels up North, I've really enjoyed this particular episode. Keep safe and well both of you.
Love your style of photography. Your vlogs are always a treat and very entertaining too 😂. Thank goodness you dodged a bullet and didn't use a 10 stop filter to photograph the castle and make it look like something that wasn't there 😶 😅. We know what Roy would say!!
Great video and wonderful images Gavin. I spent time there 50 years ago and hope to go back. Perhaps the pubs no longer close for supper time and the Guinness is a little colder?? Cheers from Alberta.
I can see on the West Highland Way (Devil's Staircase) going up and you went left --- the river most go for is on the right. Captured some good photos as its hard work in the rain.
Even the lichen thinks that joke is flat. Remember, returning to the same place over and over again will get you different results every time, so you want to subscribe to this channel just in case that lichen joke becomes fresh again. Gavin, why couldn't the photographer see straight? He took too may shots. I'm jealous of your trip, hopefully I can do something like this in a few years. These mini films make for some great trip memories.
lmaooooo "photoshop the s#&t out of it" Damn straight, that's right! It's all about the final image, not so much the original photograph! Hobbyist or pro, we're all artists at the end of the day!
The trail starts at Milngavie (pronounced "mull-guy") 😂 View from the top is better, so is most of glen etive, loch etive and black mount range TBH. Want a few snaps?
Castle Stalker, or as we know it Castle of Arrrgh, I fart in your general direction. Your mother was a hamster and your father smelt of elderberries. ...... great images and entertainment
Those images @ 3:25, @5:25 and @ 15:20 are terrific sir. I loved the one of the castle. You photo merge all the time, how about dragging the shutter for the water on a few exposures to smooth it out a bit without filters? Non-glassy reflections don't bother me that much when you've got light like that! Another fight with T.H.? Can't wait! Safe travels.
Great shots Gavin you have learnt a lot off MR Wilson since the begin of your holiday (VACATION). Glad you din't fall in the burn (CREEK) with Roy's X2D. Listen to MR Heaton you may become a very good photographer when you meet .. Do not forget to leave my Christmas present with Roy or i will be CHASING YOU Gavin Hardcastle. 🎄

Roy finally got you, ha ha! Love the video, Gavin.
If you stayed at the castle you could take pictures of people standing on the shore complaining that they never get a good shot of the castle. 😁
15:00 is my favorite. The composition is really powerful, the white house balances well with the sun rays in the left. Well done !

You driving on the left freaks me out - bad memories of a high speed trek between Heathrow and Liverpool, as a first attempt at driving over there!

Where did you get a curry in Glencoe or did you travel further to, for example, Fort William. I'm not aware of any curry shops in the Glencoe area.
Fort William. It was PACKED!
