Lord was a Running back playing Quarterback. He would have been one of the great Husker I-Backs.

I always felt bad for Jammal Lord. He took so much flack, but the truth of the matter was he was the best athlete on the field for those years. If he would have had the supporting cast that Frazier, Frost, or even Crouch would have had, he would have been a Heisman finalist and remembered as one of the best ever to play at NU.

during his time at nebraska lord played with very very good backs, but he never played with a great back, he was always the best runner on the team. nebraska was the best running team team during that era but was unable to recruit a great running back. i never understood why not. it was coach solichs biggest failure.

JLo broke some ankles in his day. poor kid never got the love he deserved when he was here. that game we lost to Texas in '02(?) is still as much fun as i've ever had in Memorial, Vasher's game-saving pick notwithstanding. gbr.

Great video! He was a good option QB who didn't get a lot of respect from fans and even from some fellow players.
But he stuck with the program. Reminds me of the guy who sits behind us in Memorial Stadium who kept bitchin about Jammal - almost every play - and would scream to put in Joe Daily. Then the next season, the first series, Daily sucked it up, and my daughter turned around and said to him, "Bet you're wishing Jammal was back here!"
    Priceless!

Are you serious? Yes, he had problems with the short and intermediate passes ... but he's the only reason we were even close in the 2002 Texas game. His 234 yards kept us in the game when we were far outmatched ... we didn't have anything surrounding him.
He'll never go down as a "Husker Great" but there's no need to dog on him because of that.

If you learn anything about these highlights, you learn that Jammal Lord destroyed opponents with his legs more than his arms.

Yep I hit him so hard in national game he shit his pants. But he was good. We played against each other again in college when Nebraska came to penn state . After the game he said “ hey ain’t you the guy who hit me in high school all star game and made me shit my pants” I said yeah did you ever get the poo poo out of those pants? He said no and now because of you I’m a poopey head !

Man, honestly, J-Lo could've been the best option quarterback Nebraska ever had. I know that's blasphemy to say, but imagine if he started for four years and had the surrounding talent of Turner Gill, Tommie Frazier or Eric Crouch. Dude definitely got a bad rap here. I think he's still playing in the AF2, he was on the Texans a few years back. One of my favorite Huskers, as he took all the heat in stride and never gave up. Nice vid. Any highlights of his 03 season?

the dark days didnt start until they fired solich, callahan was definitely the darkest time ever, he destroyed nebraska football. neither solich nor polini deserved to be fired. riley was just a placeholder to make people feel better, he did nothing for nebraska football.

Carl Crawford stole 6 bases for the Rays last weekend. He is the true reason that Nebraska fired Solich.

    • @scottmcshannon6821
      @scottmcshannon6821 Год назад

i thought lord did great, he was always the best runner during his career. my problem with solich is that although he ran a running team, he was unable to recruit a great running back during his time. he always had really good backs, but no great backs, lord was the best runner he had during his time.

The NFL did try Lord at Safety, Lord played one game at that level.
I personally think he should have tried playing WR in the NFL at 6-2 220 and very elusive he may have made a good slot receiver.

Bottom line, he was a defensive back playing Quarterback. For all the flack he got while he was here, I'd say he did a damn good job, considering his situation and his offensive coordinator.

Statistically, there D was great in 03. 279 g. 14.5 ppg. They were +23 in to's! The offense couldn't do a damn thing against the teams they lost to.
