- This is on a 1992 300E M103.
Job done and so far it runs good and no oil leaks!
At one point my camshaft TDC mark was off, so I disassembled and turned the camshaft just a little to get all 3 marks to line up, the crankshaft TDC mark was the zero mark not the one with the "T" mark.

So just wanted to compliment you on such a great video you made of your m103 head gasket job. I have a recently purchased 90 300sel with the m103 and am going through the various systems to made it road worthy it's hard to find videos on the m103. I am loving my purchase more and more as I restore it back to roadworthy. It's been setting 4 yrs . Here in Monterey Bay. I learned from your wrenching and videography. Thanx
Its a lot of work but I like projects, took me around 2 weeks to do a good job, car runs great and no leaks at HG months later.

Thanks for the video, watching from North Iceland, i have got a 1990 4matic 300e with m103 engine and its shaking on idle when engine is hot can that be from broken head gasket?
Don't think so, but just run head gasket test, rule it out, they have a kit at auto parts stores, you buy the blue liquid and rent tester, use at expansion tank. I have it in one of my videos.
Just dying to know if this new head gasket has helped your overheating issues? I have an 89 300SE with the same symptoms in Las Vegas - new water pump, radiator, tropical fan clutch (sourced from the middle east), coolant flush, radiator cap, new thermostat, fans work so do all sensors. Switching to the 75C thermostat. Imported the car from Canada in 2020 only 160,000 KM.
My son says yes, car never goes over 90 mark, so everything I've done has helped , he say's he can sit in his car on his lunch break with engine running, 30 min with A/C on and stays below 90 mark , I think topping off Freon helps with AUX fans coming on , also the 450SL thermostat opens at 75c mark, HG sure helped also.
