Im a sucker for action games. My favorite franchise is Ys for that reason. Excited to try this one. Like you said the dub does sounds top notch from what i have heard so far
The multiplayer option makes it an interesting game to add to my never-ending backlog. Nonetheless, in all fairness I'm not that excited about it yet unless a friend of mine wants to play it, but first we have to checkout if he likes SD3. Fun fact: As for the cool looking art; lead artists were Nobuteru Yuuki (SD3, CC and character artist of many popular anime) and Atsuko Nishida (creative designer of Pikachu and also worked on the Pokémon first gen art/designs in general such as the starter Pokémon)

@@aridrabkin9649 Hello, Its a decent game. I would say if you are into like the orignal Mana games. The music and UI is quite the same as Mana. As for the combat I would suggest maybe just checking a quick video on the game. The combat is unique and challenging when it comes to the bosses. But for the weapons its not as similar as mana games.
A good english dub (and having one at all) are essential for action JRPGs, because you can't be expected to look away from the action when someone is talking. Tales of Berseria is another action JRPG with a top class english dub.

I feel like a major missing part in all these reviews on the character progression aspect is that characters gain experience which makes them stronger. Most of the reviews here in RUclips are missing these aspect and doesn't even show the character screen where you can see their levels.
Good point, technical character progression is the bread and butter of any RPG. And with official Mana titles at least the level progression always decided over what type of attack moves your characters could use. Noisy Pixel not mentioning much of the technical character progression just makes me expect tried and true JRPG level ups, something that doesn't need much of a disclaimer.

I was interested till I saw the amount of DLC they're launching with and the fact that some of it seems to be character specific story deets. That's just bizzare to me.
I see already some reviews some of them didn't like the game cuz they don't know or like the secret mana series. But the other half really love the gameplay cuz they love mana. So depends more if you're a fan or not of the gameplay style.
This is actually a little disappointing and I was hoping the game would have been richer in the story. I do look forward to playing and listening to the music of the game. I am sure it is still a joy to play even if it didn't turn out as good as it should have.
How did they manage to leave out the magic system from Secret of Mana? That was at least as important as the variety of weapons you could switch between. This game is looking increasingly half baked.
@@robsmall6466 well Secret of Mana doesn't exactly set the world on fire with complex gameplay systems but between the magic and weapons you definitely had three different styles of characters to play thanks to the magic system with further customization via the weapons. If you do decide to play it, play the 2D version because the 3D remake , to me, feels completely soulless (though that is not the case with the excellent Trials of Mana 3D remake).

It's a shame they didn't keep the 16bit aesthetic for this game or go for a 32bit 2D look instead. It seems to lack a bit of character but I may give it a go
@@robsmall6466 I know there is a collection of the three 2D mana games that came out a few years ago. That is probably the way to go for playing any of them if you don't want to go the emulation route or buying 30 year old hardware.
I'm tired of this but I'm not paying money unless it's good first. I really don't like the art direction or aesthetic appeal. But I love me some secret of Mana music.

Thanks for the review. The DLC is what really turned me off from this game. I hate when I see a game released with just blatant cash grab DLC like bonus character for $4. It's like they had the whole pie, then cut it into slices to sell for more.

If you want a better version of this review it's more favorable and a better review, look up David Zinc's.

Always wanted to play The Secret of Mana. This game looks quite basic. Is it really comparable to Mana and what else have they left out ?
