I was there last week!!! "House of Fryjacks" and fryjacks in general are sooooo good and my friend Colombia that hangs out with E-Z Boys Tours put me on the food "fruit bread" and actually got me one from a tree where I got it cut and fried at a restaurant and it was really good too.
Thanks for the video,I was there in 1986 my 1st trip to Latin America,it was a local island back then.i live in Bangkok Thailand and there is still untouched islands left in Thailand,
It was on our list - English language as was British Honduras. Was concerned about living with tourists 24/7. Great to see it sells proper cusine - fish n chips! Surprised that there's less than half a million population.
Nice video but from the commentary it’s obvious this guy has spent very little time in Belize. From the question about diving certification (at the second largest barrier reef in the world?) to the obsession with beer sources (I don’t think anyone in Belize cares about the “touristiness” of their beer) the video would have been better with just a music background throughout .
Well BELIZEANS and good expats would care about their beer. I wasn't in Belize as a tourist, nor was I with tourists. My audience tends to care about things like getting local beer, supporting the local economy and not being an isolated tourist avoiding Belize. No matter how much time I have lived in countries with diving certifications, I won't likely know more about them. That's not something Belizeans do, and couldn't be of less interest. If you are specifically in Belize for that, and not to see Belize, you'll have that idea. But anyone talking about that or drinking Landshark we could argue, hasn't even been to Belize at all. Contrary to what many tourists think, Belize isn't an all inclusive resort. It's actually a real country with real people and its own beer and activities. Belizeans essentially never scuba dive, they rarely even swim. That you think Belizeans don't care about getting American crap beer that's a joke played on the worst kind of "not really here" tourists to thinking scuba diving is a Belizean thing rather than a tourist thing suggests you aren't familiar with Belize.
It's absolutely true that my total time in Belize is short. However I do LIVE full time in Central America and have for a very long time. I've had an office in Belize for years. And when I'm there, I work there in many different sectors. I'm exposed to many aspects of Belize and unlike tourists who often rack up many days, but see nothing (sitting on a beach staring at the water - it's great, but doing it an extra day doesn't given you extra experience, if that makes sense) I have to travel all over the country and work with all aspects of society. I don't stay in enclaves, I'm never with tourists or expats, I'm never isolated from Belize. If you want videos from earlier this year, you'll see me walking Belize City and working in Belmopan. Most tourists don't even know where the capital is! I certainly know way more than the level where one could think that Belizeans and Belizean culture would ever see someone drinking an American mocking tourist beer as anything but a loser to be taken advantage of. Even passing knowledge of Belize gets you past that point. And that's why it's there - to identify those that might physically be present, but haven't' encountered Belize yet.
@HarryGoodall lol, yes, with just background music, it would have been good, but let him have his fun. I'm from belize, my people are from caye bokel, halfmoon caye, turneffe. A lot of these places we grew up were taken over because of booby birds that were found, supposedly going extinct. Caulker is still kind of down to earth. Nice to visit on vacation, San Pedro has changed. Many of us have no interest in going there anymore, maybe a day trip. There's still a lot of belize that haven't been touched by outsiders. Many people will travel here and enjoy it. I'll retire soon and go back home, time to really live a little. Belize is still in slow motion, great place to raise children.
Sweet Video footage…Thanks 4 sharing…Poncho C

You video was perfect. Thanks for sharing!
I went back in 2017! Cool place. I forgot how much it has a "bocas del toro" vibe as well haha so many similarities on some of these carribean islands

Insanely expensive, very high crime. Basically you only consider it if you want all expat / enclave style life.
@@ScottAlanMillerVlog Yes, agreed! We are moving to south east Asia for some sanity - local people are lovely and English is a secondary language.
Margaritaville opened on Ambergris Caye
nooooooooo
