Marius, ... This was great!! Thank you for putting this up. I do have one question. Under "Select News to Organize" is it possible to PIN or set a News Category under the News Order and not just an specific news post? I'm trying to see if I can force a particular box (when using the "TILES" format) to display news from a particular category (and not necessarily a specific news post). Is this possible? And if it is, how can this be accomplished? Please let me know. Thanks!
Hi Gary! Glad you liked it. With your question about news categories... You could do this by going to site contents > site_pages, making a choice column (as an example, call the column 'News categories'), and then add your categories as choices. Next, set categories for relevant news posts. Finally, edit your news webpart to set up a filter to only show news posts that have been tagged with the relevant category. A bit hard to explain in a comment, but hopefully you get the gist. I'll try post a video to demonstrate when I get a chance to make another one. Busy days. 😅
Great! 🤩 I normally like to keep customisations like this to a minimum to ensure sites are easy to maintain or hand over for others to look after, but I really like the ability to filter news feeds by category. Just remember to get authors to set the appropriate category whenever they publish a new news post.
Hi again! Just wanted to let you know I put together a video based on your question in case anyone else also want to know how to do this. 😊 ruclips.net/video/wVrD6GRolnE/видео.html
Great video! I had a question... I have a Sharepoint site that has a page for individual projects and teams. I would like to be able to put a News web part on each page and have it display different news stories, however it seems that all the web parts are duplicates of each other. Is there a way to do this? E.g. just show updates related to a certain project on that project's page..
Hi Shelley! Great question!!! You can do that with metadata on the news posts and filters on the news web parts. Check out this video for instructions: SharePoint managers: Do THIS to keep your news feed targeted! ruclips.net/video/wVrD6GRolnE/видео.html.
Nice editing skills. Very informative and expert. Keep it up!!!
