I wish I knew who he was. He was definitely serving in the role of music director here, as well -- cueing the rest of the band while accompanying Todd. Wonderful musicianship!
Pretty sure I saw this performance when it originally aired. Todd often sings before the beat (that is, anticipating the beat) on songs like this, but he sang this one very conventionally. A beautiful performance by all.

What a genius... Simply love his voice, the lyrics and the band. So underrated
I'm as big a fan as everyone when it comes to Todd, but he has "off" nights and "on" nights. This one was ON.
