Wrong. There is no former owner from Twitter involved at all and Jack Dorsey left months ago. And calling Bluesky a company is quite a stretch as well. Its more an Open Source project mostly held over water by Crypto Bros (Blockchain Capital), that is currently whirling with their arms to somehow manage anything that is going on there, while bots, postings of borderline illegal stuff and impersonation is significantly on the rise, because they werent prepared for anything or bothered to create the necessary structures. And all that wile we are talking about a platforms whichs feature-set is on the level of Twitter in the early 2010s.
@CallMeTeci "Bluesky began in 2019 as a research initiative at Twitter, becoming an independent company in 2021. Development for the social app accelerated in 2022 after Elon Musk's acquisition of Twitter and subsequent severing of ties between the companies. Bluesky launched as an invite-only service in February 2023 and opened registrations in February 2024. Former Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey left Bluesky Social's board by May 2024. The social media platform grew after October 2024, reaching 20 million users by November 2024." Wikipedia
@@WileCoyoteMoncure-Smith I did my research. Bluesky was a side-project initiated by the former Twitter heads to do the AT Protocol stuff and was never meant to be a platform in the first place, hence the Alpha-State of it. There is no core-structure. I asked several times what is going on and why it takes them ages to implement the most basic features. And the answers were always the same - its basically just a project where the devs are in a structure that is much closer to one of the average Open Source project, than it is to a real company. Very few core-devs, with a handful of people around them throwing changes in there as well if they want. Keep in mind that this is thing existed for three years with a pretty darn long Closed-Access phase, where barely anything moved forward in terms of feature-development. If people went there three months ago, they wouldnt even have the option to upload videos AT ALL and uploaded GIFs are still not working. They have no solution for any of the current problems, like a content filter for uploads or proper verification to prevent impersonation. Cope as much as you want, but that thing is currently a sh'tshow and i dont see how they gonna get out of that.
Twitter is terrible, because it prioritises tweets that annoy you or make people angry to provoke a response, over tweets from people you actually follow and want to engage with. Also, no one calls it ‘X’. Stupidiest branding attempt ever.
Surprised how they unironically calls it X. I'm guessing cause Elon is his buddy and they like Teslas, driving fast cars and criminal acts, they're on the same wavelength..
All social media promotes ragebait because ragebait creates engagement, and engagement is measurable. The algorithm can't tell when you found something intellectually stimulating.
@ No. I found Twitter was more and more frequently pushing be rage bait I never clicked on or even lingered on. People I engaged (I’d read entire conversations, engaged in conversations with) with all the time I saw less and less of. It got to the point where I had to MANUALLY type and search the Twitter account of accounts I already followed for years to see what they were posting because Twitter was not giving it to me anymore. This was what eventually drove me to quit Twitter because rather than have my own curated feed, I was being given shovels of shit bait, I’d scroll through for 30 seconds and close.
I totally agree that Google Plus was way ahead of its time. It had all the features that is required now, with way more unnecessary UI and naming decisions. A debloated Google Plus experience with federation would totally work out IMHO.
X doesn't have legitimate trends because the algorithm favors those, who are paid, to create the most outrageous posts to actually be seen and stay seen for some time. Hopefully, Taylor will move to BSKY, and then you'll start to hear a giant sucking sound as X users are sucked away. Love Marques. Didn't know you were on this channel too.
The owner of Xitter is also big reason to move to Bluesky. Musk has destroyed Twitter and doesn't seem to care. Threads seemed less attractive to me, it's like a place for writers to post 'writting' or stories or essays. Bluesky seems exactly like twitter was, before it became a right wing cesspit.
Honestly I am kinda glad that they kept it invite only for as long as they did! while that means not as many people couldve joined sooner, that also means they were able to decide how many users the site hosted while working out any development kinks yknow? keep it a few (compared to now) who had to put in time to be there and understand the site is still being put together, and allowing the devs a smaller sample for improvements as opposed to MILLIONS of users who are all going to have varying issues. I dont mind something taking longer as long as i can seen the time and effort being put to good use. I feel like too many people want it NOW NOW NOW and arent willing to take a moment, take a deep breathe, and take their time for a better end result. Instead taking their projects out half baked then are surprised when those viewing are not nearly as impressed as they wanted. things made with love and pride are far more beautiful than something churned out only for the sake of attention with no actual love for your craft.
I don't get the "twitter is bad" hype. Idk if it's because of my demographic/usage but my twitter experience hasn't changed at all and all the creators I follow still primarily use twitter. It's think not all "communities"/demographics on twitter are being affected the same by whatever is happening with twitter. I feel all so out of loop with the twitter downfall because I haven't felt the downfall at all.
I don't understand it either. I followed mostly artists and game companies before elon bought twitter, and still follow them, my usage never changed, I am not fed any politics (except once I clicked to a shitty liberal ragebaiting magazine, but it was entirely my fault and prior election time with shitty tweets from both sides). I don't even receive Elon's tweets. Maybe experience vary based on region perhaps?
Same. Let’s be honest: a lot of it is overdramatic pretentious adults creating the overblown hysteria of it all and building it up as this massive thing that is _totally_ popular that everyone _totally_ deeply cares about, and if we want to be even more honest about it: it all boils down to “this doesn’t align with my politics, I don’t like that I’m having my views challenged, this is all BAD” I don’t notice a big “downfall” … I don’t engage with the cesspit (which should be noted that all platforms have one - yes, even Bluesky it’s just on the opposite end of the spectrum with nonsense and extremes). Twitter/X is still the same as it was prior for me. I still see video game, space, and tech content in abundance, except now I can see the Community Notes pin of shame when someone tries to spread false information (which is great to click on a profile of someone being Noted and scroll their feed to see almost all of their posts are CN’d, making it obvious they’re a massive red flag to avoid at all costs). I like that feature as it actually lets users participate compared to some faceless entity being the arbiters on what is and isn’t “true”. If anything, I actually see more conversations happening in replies on posts. Prior to the buy, things were a bit stale - a bit _too_ sanitized and came off as extremely fake with the way everything was set up. Was *extremely* corporate-driven. No one really engaging with anyone, but now I see the opposite where replies have taken off and people venture out of their comfort zones to discuss other topics. I still see bots and certain types of content put under a spam tag (that no one is ever forced to click). The ads are the same as they were before. Can’t reply to certain replies that are flagged in the system (which is a bonus as it deprives those accounts from genuine engagement). The big plus I’ve noticed that I personally like: hashtags aren’t a focus anymore. No one really bothers with them or cares about putting them in posts or whether one is trending or not. They don’t get to define what’s and isn’t “popular” anymore as prior, bots would just spam hashtags and flood the system to make certain things trend. Now, what trends goes based on topics being discussed the most with the actual content of the posts - no more random hashtags thrown into unrelated posts to drive fake engagement and taint the algorithm. Plus, this whole push to make Bluesky happen is built entirely on not being like the _other_ site. That’s the only reason I see people clamoring to get others to use it: because it’s not Twitter. Almost all of the posts I have seen when popping on to that platform has been people complaining about Twitter/X … and that bit of hype isn’t going to last forever. See: Threads and how so many pushed to go use it as an alternative because “blue bird site BAD”, but slinked right back after so many months because the overall engagement went down after that boost. Let’s check back in 6 months to see if those millions of users actually held up and the engagement is still there. Otherwise, this is nothing more than yet _another_ alternative platform that fails as its whole schtick is not being like that other site that supposedly went though a “”downfall””.
Bluesky's moderation settings is a blessing. It is so easy to remove all politics, and other topics you don't want to see. It is so much better than Twitter is. I hope they will continue growing :)
I've noticed that too, Bluesky is kinda like a hybrid of Reddit and Twitter in the sense that it's more community based. It's better for normies who don't want drama
@@mobitecstore7344 But I do use social media. I just don't want to see a bunch of political crap that doesn't even happen in my country. I like to see what some people are posting, and I am interested in certain topics. Bluesky just made it much easier to remove the stuff I don't care about.
Right now, it’s adding about 1 million every 2 days. I switched over about 5 days ago, not going back to X or Threads ever, Bluesky is so much cleaner and controllable.
And bots. I just created 20 accounts for future use. Its going to be like old twitter where 50%+ were bots. I expect to only use it to create a history over the years. Its like facebook. I have about 15 accounts with them and only use them when I need to find information. I had to create phony backgrounds through the years just to keep from being purged. Many organizations and stupid groups end up requiring accounts with facebook, google, twitter/x, bluesky, reddit, instagram -- just to join. There are literally government sites that require facebook to bid on auctions. So yep, I secure at least 20 accounts on sites just to gain access to these overreaching government sites and entertainment domains. It gets silly with the anti-privacy data scraping the govt does especially when the leaders are corrupt (and don't like freedom). I have atleast 50 accounts just because every tv or device I own wants to crawl up my bum-hole and profile me. Amazon TV and apple require so much personal data, that I feel its my duty to create aliases just to fight the anti-privacy monopolies.

Bluesky's Github shows all the components of bluesky are licensed under MIT or apache-2.0. Which are two of the most open common licenses you can have. I am all for open source software, but this is extremely bald. MIT license means you can do whatever you want with the code in any shape or form, for profit or not. It is good for customers, but I wondering how they are able to run a large service like this and completely open source they entire infrastructure. Who's paying them ???
Bluesky is so very different. It isn't a toxic danger to the mental health of teens or anyone else, like Instagram or Facebook. It isn't yet a cesspool of disinformation, trolls, or nazis like many other places. It gives the user a lot of power on filtering out what they don't want to see or hear. I think it's very cool and a REAL social media alternative that isn't just trying to be a copy of all the others. While all that's true the amount of fluff posts on it is pretty crazy, it's like the early days of the internet. My Mastodon account is much more active as the people who use it seem to post much heavier and substantial things. My three gripes with Bluesky is the fluff posts, the fact that it isn't actually decentralized despite everyone throwing that around when talking about it, and the character count is super small.

I don’t use twitter and blue sky but did go on blue sky to check it out, and you stand corrected. It’s an echo chamber, but hey that’s sorta to be expected when the people that’s making the switch over are all politically aligned. Bluesky = former owners of Twitter. Bluesky began in 2019 as a research initiative at Twitter, becoming an independent company in 2021.
@CallMeTeci maybe you haven't done your research.
It’s called X not twitter.
You have been community noted.
Hope this helps 🤭
@@CJayyTheCreative Still sucks tho.
Clearly you haven’t used threads much because that simply is not the case 😂

@vanillaquale bruh, he buy it when he has no intentions with trump.
It's wild how far ahead of its time G+ was.
G+ was trash. Orkut was the real innovator.

Tribal wars creating narratives and counter narratives. I'm sure both will have their strengths and weaknesses. But it is good to have options.
Don't get it either because I didn't use any social platform, unless you count Twitter and RUclips.
Same.
Let’s be honest: a lot of it is overdramatic pretentious adults creating the overblown hysteria of it all and building it up as this massive thing that is _totally_ popular that everyone _totally_ deeply cares about, and if we want to be even more honest about it: it all boils down to “this doesn’t align with my politics, I don’t like that I’m having my views challenged, this is all BAD”
I don’t notice a big “downfall” … I don’t engage with the cesspit (which should be noted that all platforms have one - yes, even Bluesky it’s just on the opposite end of the spectrum with nonsense and extremes).
Otherwise, this is nothing more than yet _another_ alternative platform that fails as its whole schtick is not being like that other site that supposedly went though a “”downfall””.
lets be clear. "They" hate on twitter because of Elon. Just Elon alone.

It’s an echo chamber, but hey that’s sorta to be expected when the people that’s making the switch over are all politically aligned. You gotta understand that conflict on twitter and clashing insults is what carries twitter.
Sure conflict of ideas or harassment ain’t what the new users of blue sky want, but it sure is for everyone else when wants to entertain themselves. Threads failed and I don’t see blue sky succeeding either when there’s basically only one demographic on there either.
let’s not pretend that twitter isn’t a right wing echo chamber lmao 😂
I’ve already deactivated my account because there were a bunch of scammers and people harassing me so it wasn’t worth doing
Lol Bluesky will censor even vaguely controversial content, so whats the point?
You mean content that allows you to say bigoted things yes?

@@erasmogm if you call Nazi stuff, homophobia, and racism things I don't agree with. You're very spot on
But we all know it won't be that stuff, though, but you guys will spin anything you dont agree with as that stuff. Litterally observed yall do it in the last election. Bunch of snowflakes @ivanleo7522
