After watching this for the fifth or six time, I actually started listening to the music (which is excellent) but the washboard queen had my 100% undivided attention at first.
These guys are seriously awesome. The singer playing guitar and "drums" at the same time is amazing. We saw them about a month ago performing and we couldn't walk away. Their CD is badass, too. And the dog is alive, btw. :) But if you're in NOLA go look for these guys. Well worth it.
Defne "Dizzy" Incirlioglu is one of the best washboard players I have yet seen, I'm a big fan of Washboard Sam and Bull City Red who are obviously long long gone but they are the benchmark for washboard playing., It's good to see the great percussion instrument kept alive, she is one great lookin' gal as well, sexier than Wasboard Sam and Bull City Red ever were :)
Saw yes ma'am on royal st. Last week..bought the CD and I'm hooked! So freak in good ..even though they think Georgia water taste like turpentine. This Georgia peach loves um!
Here I go again listening to this, I it alone for a while and then I'm back. Everyone of the players have their own character as they play. With these it's a visual thing as well, and that washboard girl pops up everywhere. She's good, and attractive too, so she's bound to have a following. But I've not seen the banjo youth since, he's just like some kid we all knew at school, where is he I wonder?
I saw them perform just like this in the French Quarter in New Orleans! And let me tell you its 100x better in real life, if you like this then book your next holiday to New Orleans....you wont regret it.
The "fiddle player" makes me think of my fathers's uncle Johnny Sines doin the street dances in Granville Ohio Sat nites during WWII. Usually ended about midnight when the bus brought all the men back from the defense plant in Columbus. Then dad and I would walk till I got tired and then he would carry me..Mom pulled the wagon with my little sister and we'd walk the 3 miles back home. It was about the only time I got to see my dad. I guess I was lucky at that. The military turned dad down because of injuries to his feet when he was a kid. THANKS FOR THE MUSIC!!.
thanks for posting this jazzbo...weren't for you I would not have known anything about these folks. Just wish I could get that CD they were selling (if it is with this group here...I have noticed YesMaam has changed a little over the last few years) Definitely agree with some of the other comments below Dizzy is cute.
Thanks for the additional info. I meant to get back to you right away to thank you but got distracted by some stuff and then thought I had. According to Yes Ma'am's Facebook page, they're based in NOLA but they also tour. Matt posts where their gonna be. Why don't you contact him on Facebook? People leave comments but most don't know him and I'm sure he'd love to hear from you! On Jan.30, he posted that they just finished their second album "Featuring some new original songs, best one yet!"
Washboard girl is Hella cute and it's cool to watch her just groove along not missing a beat xD idk but her and the singer really just make the song bump
I visited the French Quarter 8-9 years ago and big surprise was the many unbelievably talented streets. Loved them and returned home with a dozen CDs. In fact I just listen to the Hookum High Rollers last night.
Sierra Ferrell came from the busking community, this one in Nola for years, it's funny how they all interchange with each other to do different incarnations of rag, jug, skiffle and blues
Thanks for the history on this song and Matt. It's a great line, especially with Matt singing it. He's incredible and so's the whole band!!! It would be cool if you can tell us anything more about him.
T.J. Smith Thank god for youtube! You know they tell stories of records common in off the docks in the 50's influencing the Uk kids like the Beatles.. I'm british and Ive been playing guitar since I was 8.. 26 now.. I think I needs me a Blues Pilgrimage!
Good work, y'all~ Is that Jason from Hokum High Rollers on guitar or-? And that ubiquitous, cool washboard gal! Many of these contemporary street musicians in the US deserve more recognition-
That washboard woman laughs out the blue...love her!
I think that laugh was because of the improvised line "I'm hellbound, 666, call the dopeman to get my fix".
Dizzy is her name
After watching this for the fifth or six time, I actually started listening to the music (which is excellent) but the washboard queen had my 100% undivided attention at first.
Yep.....same here. She's fantastic!!!
Who is she? I’ve seen her playing with Tuba Skinny several years ago on a couple of days!
@@AL5J_ I'm not sure what her name is but she is a Greek goddess.
