100 💯
indeed
My dad agrees!❤
Tuba Skinny is about as much fun you can have with your clothes on
How is it possible for the singer to be so clearly heard without a mic? Absolutely beautiful performance.
Because she is Erika Lewis the great just that.
Voice projection, fantastic
And it is better without the mic because you can feel how much wind she is using, and how much sound she is producing
I don't care how long ago this video came out
I've loved Tuba Skinny since the first one
When this lockdown is over I wanna go to New Orleans and follow this band around.
@Carl FerrignoCarl so is this band " steaming hot"
Just right on the money. Proper wonderful!
OK Losing it - seems there will be plane loads coming with you from Europe & all around the world
So do... but I may be too old and not fit enough so this shall have to suffice.
i wanna kiss the singer
Erica Lewis. That's my baby now!
It never ceases to amaze me how so many people are wrapped in the daily little messes they call their lives how they walk on by completely oblivious to this music. Also, even though I am 85, I am still in good health and so I hereby ask Shaye Cohn to marry me!!!!!!!!!!!!
Best washboard player ever, what a great contributor to this entertaining band, thanks form Ireland.
Jim Hawkins and australia
Robin and Sam sure pull the audience into the show
From London UK. Fantastic entertainers!
I'm a professional drummer, and yes, this guy was totally amazing!
Yes, he is a standout
I can't stop listening to this band
Amazing street band. No mics. Just playing their hearts out.
I can't help but wish that electricity was banned from street performance, or at least taped backing. Acoustic instruments sound best au naturel. Even at most so-called "acoustic open-mic nights" nowadays, there's a mic (hence the naming i suppose) and a PA and if your guitar hasn't got a pickup, you're stuffed. Is it because so few people in this day and age simply don't know how to shut the f*** up and listen? This lot have got brass, woodwind banjo and percussion players who give it some welly and a singer who can project so they're sitting prettier than most but it should always be properly acoustic in my book.
Best I've heard for many years. Didn't know that bands of this quality are still around. I'm 73 years old and have been a jazzed since a wee lad. This lot have it all.
Great is all u can say
How can they be so good un the street ,mesmerising and some ,whoever filmed this missed the real thing g and gave it to us .
Thanks whoever shot this masterpiece.
Still alive, old timer?
@@Queef_Storm yes thanks

You know it's good when feet are tapping and bystanders are boogieing.
These guys & Gals are simply incredible Musicians, coupled with the rag time tones of Erica its a veritable time machine back to the old days of Jazz, True musicians no mixing , no electronic Gizzmos, Just Raw Talent in its purest Form. Thanks Guys you Just brightened up a Cold wet Novemeber Day here in UK.
They sound like I just put a 78rpm on the Victorola. Amazing!!
Message from Ireland absolutely gorgeous am singing along definitely not in 1st flush of youth but these guys are well done
Yes Sir That's A Sensational Band and Yes Ma'am That's Great Singing
Washboard :' ) Just AMAZING.
Man he is great on the board. Don't hear this anymore.
Good at music, yes, but he hasn't figured out how to do laundry on it yet.
@@rotunda57 lol doing the laundry that's his moms duty 🤣
I was today years old when I realized I love sloppy swing jazz! Robin kills it on the wash board and Erika sings beautifully. Shaye is just epic on the coronet and the rest of the gang are is just perfect! Food for my soul. Thank you
As good as ever;New Orleans should be grateful that such JAZZ bands still exist and continue to perpetrate this wonderful art form!
perpetuate is what you mean?
"Perpetuate"
I'm from Russia. I really love Dixieland. I was looking. I found Tuba Skinny! Perfectly! Thank you.
salam
I just found them recently myself and love their music
The guy on the wash board brilliant
wow she is a force of a singer she has no mike and can project past the loud acoustics awesome!!!
Agree! :)
I was going to say the same. Much respect to her for singing over the brass and banjo with no mic.
Me too and I am 77 years old
Possibly a mic hanging in the red chord on her neck.
John DeCillo
I don’t think so..
I am from Australia and due to this terrible Virus I am at home surfing U tube, and came upon this great music which brings back memories well done to all of you I hope you are all at it still , Erica has a great Voice
Holly molly, found this beautiful band and can't get enough of it. I'm addicted, I'm in love.
A washboard solo, I have entered a time warp.
Can't help but bring a smile to your face. She's a classic and the guy on washboard is indestructible. They're all great musicians.
She's an absolutely amazing singer. Projects her voice with no mics or anything.
Nick Rapczynski Once upon a time, she would have been called a shouter. The same way to project as opera singers.
That's not all she projects. Whew! Is it getting hot in here or what?
@@DanielCPurdy Also called "belters". Ethel Merman for example.
Tu dała pokaz swoich możliwości. Franek Sinatra może się schować. Szkoda,że jej komercyjne piosenki jakieś smętne.
Wielki talent stracony? Oby nie!
Erika Lewis, Man, that chick's got some pipes! No mic!
She PROJECTS ! Wow.... And clarinet guy is ridiculous! ✌🏻🇺🇸
That was actually a soprano saxophone. Very similar in shape and size of course.
George B blow America great again!
And her phrasing and accent. I listen to all the Tuba Skinny songs to try to understand.
@@mattbartley2843 In fact, this really is a clarinet with a metal body instead of the regular wooden one. Although still available sporadically nowadays, the better quality instruments were fashionable mainly in the thirties and forties.
Currently THE number one dixie-blues band in the USA!!!
Amazing. And the best washboard on the planet!
Each has their own specialty. Add them together and you have gallons of feel good!
I love this group, especially watching the foot action.
I play jazz clarinet and have been around music all my life - I am 56- this is the best Jazz I have ever heard ..... Bar none.
Who the hell would downvote this?!
When I was a kid in Ohio, 83 years ago now, my granddaddy would slip away to New Orleans and then New York, he had a shop out back where he did repairs on all sorts of things and an old record player, vinyl of course and he'd have music playing. . .King Oliver and Louis Armstrong were favorites before Louis became popular outside of NO. I was learning to play piano and I listened to those jazz piano players and learned how to play "rhythm" piano. . .Armstrong's wife was great. TS takes me back in my late years to my childhood and I love it.
Good musicians just standing up and letting go outside is the real thing no mics or electronics in sight. Wish I could go to NO and sit and listen. . .well, maybe my next life. JIM M.
"... before Louis became popular outside of NO..." conflicts with "...he'd have music playing. . .King Oliver and Louis Armstrong "
Best I’ve heard in my 92 and bit years, well done guys n girls and thank you so much.
i hope youre doing well sir, God bless you
Nice to find out good old jazz is still alive in New Orleans!
Just damned amazing how people can walk by when these guys are playing!
Erica is the best, without an mike aganst a whole band! Chapeau!
of course, Shaye Cohn is the glue here...as critical to the commercial success as Ericka Lewis might be, this is Shaye Cohn's band and she has created a genuine gem
Respectfully sir, each musician is good and would be an asset to any band but together. Together that band is outstanding. Everyone there is a key component. Just my opinion.
My God,....they’re goooood!👍👍👍👍👍❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩
Yes sir that´s my band !!!!!!
love it always
i could sit and listen to this band and that sweet lovely birdy for hours on a warm sunny day.
I was lucky eneough to find and hear them in 2012 Glad they found fame and fortunr. Hope it didnt change the dynamics of this Great band
That trumpet girl....love her
Best Jazz band I've ever seen or heard and I'm 76 and heard a few !! Greetings from the UK.
The world is a better place thanks to young people like these!
I wouldn't go so far as to say they're the best I've ever heard, but they are right up there. For that style of jazz, they are excellent. My all time favorite will always be the early '60s Dave Brubeck quartet, with Desmond, Wright, and Morello. In a different vein, I heard the Duke Ellington orchestra perform live, and had the rare privilege of interviewing Mr. Ellington after the show for the public radio station I worked for. What an amazing gentleman! That was just a year before he died.
Best New Orleans jazz and ragtime band I’ve heard in a while. Talented and it seems the music flows effortlessly. I’m a bass trombonist and would like to play with these kids. Excellent!
Peter Gill greetings sir. I bet you have heard a few. Cheers from Alabama, USA.
i am 76 too and i like this musik very much.
Best Band ever
Wonderfull!!!!!
the voice on her wow!!!!!!
Loves me some Erika Lewis!
get in line, Fella!
Yes, she is great!
Folks watching know this band is special.
I want to go to New Orleans so much!
This is the happiest band I have ever heard. A million times superior to the electronic twanging and thumping trash on UK BBC Radio 1.
Agreed !
bbc definitely rubbish and getting worse.
Music is subjective buddy this band are amazing that's for sure but to compare them electronic or electro to them is well utterly pointless
@@liamcronin8110 the problem is more or less the lack of choices on radio both here and abroad. There's plenty of room for all types of music, yet the radio dial has very much narrowed. Of course the internet can remedy much of my "complaint."
@@bishlap i dunno didff stations play diff music how many songs are played throughout radio every day?lots to say there is lack of choices is nearsighted there is an abundance of choice
I love that girl singing!
Gee! I can look at and listen to this clip over and over, and over... Jazz doesn't get much better than this!
Gracias Gracias Gracias!!!!
I couldn’t dance until I heard Tuba Skinny.
This is one of those tunes where the washboard truly shines!...
Absolutely no better way to start a morning.
A joy to listen to
I wish we had something like that in the Netherlands
The band was amazing. That woman really had some pipes to sing that out and project it so loudly to the crowd.
Filling up the whole street over top a brass band!
Tuba - where have you been all my life. Love you guys
Good gawd! I love 💘 you Erika!
Imagine her singing a lullaby?! I’d joyfully fall to sleep to that.
The guy on ship's ventilator is good!
That cla rinet is off the hook fantastic..erika vocals superb shay always stellar the washboard drums trombone tuba banjo on point clean and thrilling everyone so connected to one another no one one upping the other each musician artistry showcased really cool to see close knit band highlighting each others artwork...damn so professional soulful and joyful.
Tamara Kennedy It says that he is playing a sax. I can’t say that I can tell the difference between a clarinet and a soprano sax; but that looks like a soprano sax to me.
@@DanielCPurdy It's a clarinet made of metal. I have one. They look cool but hardly ever play in tune.
Bob Hughes - Thanks.
@@bobhughes2290 Lester Young played one. You can hear it on "Blue and sentimental".
New Orleans used to have the best street music. Musicians would wonder around between bands. They came from all parts of the world, just like the tourists. The Bar rooms did everything they could do to destroy it. They said it took from their businesses. Actually, it was why most came to New Orleans. Bands would have every combination you could think of. Believe me when I say that these bands made some of the best music I've ever heard.. All the music was usually ad lib. I, for one, miss it. I also miss what the gumbo mud does when it gets between the toes.
Washboard guys is fabulous.
I can really appreciate how the Cornet leads the band...it shows to great advantage in the 20 Tuba Skinny videos I have watched this week...Shay is phenomenal player...
Love these folks! Erika is the bees knees.
My prayers go out for the people of New Orleans Louisiana Mississippi and Alabama that's where my mama and papa live I pray for the whole world I'm Tristan I'm 8 years old
I watch blank face people walk by and not turn their heads.
How can there be such emotionless people.
This band is so joyful and I would love to be there.

I’m Mexican at age of 7 at elementary school first grade I danced that song … people laugh a lot seeing little people dancing… still remember the routine at my age 64… !!!!
Erika's got some awesome Fulani earrings!
Без фанеры, без микрофонов, живьем! Профессионально, от души и для души! Респект и спасибо!!!👍😊
Это Эрика Кузнецова.
Why do I like this I don't like jazz, Erica is a such a great singer I keep coming back for more
Which proves that you do "like" Jazz. You've just not been exposed to enough of the good stuff before.
Jazz underwent a major split in the mid 1940s known as the bebop revolution. Most of the jazz you hear these days is post-bebop jazz. Here you see traditional jazz, which is pre-bebop. So there is traditional jazz, swing jazz, and gypsy jazz that all belong to the the pre-bebop styles I'm sure you'll like them all. This is jazz back when jazz was popular music.
j adore cette musique
Awesome.... wonderful and cool
You are so lucky to have such a great band over there oh I wish I lived over there, they make my day brilliant
