- Welcome to Episode 3 of the Telethrasher series where I take a DIY telecaster kit guitar and turn it into my Ultimate Metal Weapon. In this episode I am tackling a daunting task, installing binding. Not just on one side, but both. I have never done any binding work before so of course I went straight for a double bound body adding twice as much work and chance to mess it up.
Surprisingly it wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be and actually a pretty fun process!
Just an added tip here...use gloves when working with acetone and ABS plastic. It is easily absorbed into the skin...so do as I say and not as I do!
I'm really happy with how this came out, even though its not perfect I'm pleased with my first binding installation!

Well I'm stoked for this being my first time working with binding! Have you or are you planning on doing binding on a guitar? Also I know that the metal music may not be everyone's cup of tea, but lets be honest...you can't look at my channel logo and think you'll get any thing else haha! Thanks for watching and remember when working with acetone and plastic...you should wear some gloves, that stuff absorbs into your hands pretty nasty like.

Dude I'm loving how its coming out! This guitar is going to be so dope! Honestly the part I needed the most patience with during the whole process was setting up and running the god damn camera. That looks slick man! Definitely worth doing the double binding on that one. Great work on the install especially for a first go of it. Should be pretty epic once the build is finished

@@Tkolbo_ I thought about it back in the day but I think my talent ends at building tables. Plus I had a near miss with my router the last time I tried to use that. Might still be a touch gun shy with that haha
@@TProStudioCreate oof routers can be scary as hell so I don’t blame you at all! But you just gotta get back on that horse and build up a guitar! I’m debating on building a bass

@@Tkolbo_ I like the way binding looks on a Tele. I have a G&L Tele but it doesn't have any binding on it. I kinda always wanted a Tele with the binding on it, like Prince always played. lol...

You did a professional job in my opinion dude. Looks sick! You think about the finish? Might look dope with a Tung oil finish like I did to my Alder tele body.

@@Tkolbo_ yeah let me just pull it out of the box its been in for 2 years. 😂 got loads of upgrades for my kit but got to assemble it. Seymour duncan quarter pound tele pickups? Say what?!?! Mojotone wiring harness, graphtech nut and saddles blah blah blah. I really need to put it together.
