- It looks like the term "Cabin Fever" is okay so, lets switch things up a bit.
We have been talking a lot about the new paint booth and we are going to have more from inside but I had to do some neck binding as well as prep for our weekly Online Training Class, plus binding is always fun... right?
I have been wanting to try this stuff for a while but wasn't sure if it would replace my acetone and syringe technique that I stole fair and square from some other guy on RUclips.
Well, is it the hot set-up? In this video we find out!
For everyone who is hunkered down in the house or just looking for a little bit of infotainment we are doing a lot of extended videos so you can zone out a little bit.

I had to buy a nut slotting file from StewMac last week to finally fix the graphtech nut on my guitar. 5 mins and all was well. No more ringing and no more sitar. Not bad for my first nut 🤣😁
If I had to guess, I’d assume Ben Crowe has at least *one* binding adhesive product for sale. You can see the pain in his face when he has to use a tool or product that doesn’t say “Crimson” on it 😂
To those that like to find drama, I say this all in fun. I like Crimson’s channel and Ben has a good sense of humor about his gratuitous self-promotion and product placement. He’s totally self-aware, and that’s why it works. The same with Matt. Matt rips on himself for being a motor-mouth, and thus turns it into a joke and takes it away from people who want to bitch. Owning it and joking about it leaves haters speechless, and it’s fun. Thanks for the videos, watching them all while my kids go stir crazy and chase the pets around the house in Halloween masks. 🤣

That's the stuff I asked about when I saw somebody using glue to put on binding. Didn't know you couldn't use acetone on all binding.
Acetone works great but this stuff is a good tool to have as well

I tried building a large model formula 1 and I woke the next morning I woke up to a space station made out of old speakers broken clocks smashed model airplane parts. I now know that night was the first time I ever got high. I didn't use the red glue after that for a while. I like the orange tape with the fret board wood

Matt, I used that bindall glue on my twin ukes Im building I made figured maple binding & I used a B/W purfling inside the bindall worked great however I made a Horrible mess with it but it did clean up fairly easy. Great vid Brother. Stay safe

BBQ gloves are the hot ticket for hot binding
Gloves are good until you need tape. I just decided to suffer for my art :)
I’ve used this and my warning to others is that it doesn’t come out in a very controlled manner, so be careful! If you’re doing a repair job, the glue will damage a finish. So far it has held just fine though.
Good advice, I have no issues with this for new builds but I didn't think about repair. Use all precautions y'all
Bind all is part of my glue arsenal. Stewmac plastic binding is extruded so it's kinda rounded on the edges. Not my favorite but workable.

Tonight at midnight I have to do a shelter in place thing in California so I just walked n got some chips. I do have a new little blackstar so I can get that dialled in and hope the government buys us all a new guitar

I wouldn’t be surprised if the Main ingredients in that tube is acetone and dissolved ABS. Btw. I believe that Crimson Ben uses glue.
Gert Halberg that’s what I’d guess by looking at it. I haven’t used that stewmac bind all but when I worked at Rickenbacker we made binding glue by chopping up binding and mixing it with acetone. The color and consistency looks just like that bind all.
It doesn't react like ABS and acetone, I don't think it melts the binding
I think it's one of the new Super Bonds. Stewmac have been developing non-solvent paints and bonding systems for years to try making the trade safer. Just a thought.
Wonder if that stuff is just rebranded Duco cement. I know a lot of people use that for binding. Personally, I'm more familiar with the acetone/MEK/whatever-solvent-melts-the-plastic method...I'm just not that good at it yet. If that Allparts stuff is similar to Martin binding, try MEK (Methyl Ethyl Ketone). I believe that is the solvent that melts the Martin binding. You can buy a small can of it at Home Depot or Lowe's. It should be right next to the acetone.
I have some of the Duco cement, it is different
If it’s plastic you can use lighter fluid and the binding will turn into a wet noodle. You can pretty much make it do whatever you want🤘🏻
Well, looks like I will have plenty of time for at least a week to watch the videos. They are shutting down automotive production tomorrow.

This video made me cry. 😥😥 My original tele, I glued the binding to the body using rubber cement. also I let my dad spray the nitro and he built the layers up way too thick. the guitar was stolen and left in the trunk of a car for months before I got it back. The entire body is covered on an oak burl cabinet grade veneer. Now the finish is split like a mofo, and the binding it cracked and all jacked up. I really want to restore it but im afraid I'll seperate the veneer from the body if I try a stripper to remove the bulshit nitro, and if I scrape or sand it I might burn through the damn veneer, it has a foil backing I believe, it sure was metal. My original baby is sure fucked up.
