- Thievery Corporation is a Washington, D.C.-based recording artist and DJ duo consisting of Rob Garza and Eric Hilton and their supporting artists. Their music style mixes elements of dub, acid jazz, Indian classical and Brazilian (such as bossa nova) with a lounge aesthetic.
Thievery Corporation is on the Eighteenth Street Lounge record label named after the DC club owned by Eric Hilton, but several of their singles and EPs appear on the 4AD and !K7 labels.
Formed in the summer of 1995 at D.C.s Eighteenth Street Lounge. Rob Garza and Lounge co-owner Eric Hilton bonded over club life, dub, bossa nova and jazz records, then decided to see what would come of mixing all these in a recording studio. From this, the duo was born and their self started label Eighteenth Street Lounge Music began to emerge on an international level.
The duo caught the ears of underground DJs with their first two 12 offerings, Shaolin Satellite and 2001: a Spliff Odyssey and with their 1997 debut LP, Sounds from the Thievery Hi-Fi, they had already begun to define a new genre of electronic music and connect with an international community of like-minded souls. Though the terminology has varied (downtempo, chill out, left field and a myriad of other permutations), they have maintained their unique musical standards for the duration of their popularity.

oh la la
The "Too Many White Boys" line is from Common's song "Resurrection '95".
"Don't watch the bulls as much, they got too many white boys."
the speech in it sends me deep man. it took me ages to figure out what he means. seek detachment, fight without desire!!! :D love it,,, not sure about the dig at white people tho, that would be discriminative. no need. cant judge a race, theres arse holes and angels in every culture and colour. :D x
Daniel Percival its "art without desire"
I think the words are " Ya got two white guys" and it's saying you got two white guys making cool shit!
It definitely is. Sentence came from Maha bharata, when Krisna talk to Arjuna before going to war. "Victory and defeat are the same, Seek detachment, fight without desire..."
Ya reckon they had a smoke when they wrote this and found Jah? lol hmmmmm great tune
those were the days (years) when good music has been coming out so quickly...

Two white boys made it so I guess no :)
"Got too many white boys ..."

@@Destroymaster100 did you #UmActually lol nice
@@KCHunter idk about um actually but actually yeah. its fact what i said.
@@Destroymaster100 don't think anyone is disputing the correction, I am wondering about how hard you're patting yourself on the back though :)
How can you justify the beginning words with the anti white rhetoric. Ruins the song for me. I'll find better.
