    I thought I was the only one who used FolkArt paints to paint his models, and I thought my paint jobs looked pretty good.... but DAMN! What you can do with those paints is AMAZING!

    Glad I found your video I have this same bust sitting on my desk primed but hadn't started painting it, so this was very helpful, because I too love TMNT, started reading the comic waaay back when it was still black and white and a bit violent....LOL.

      It’s a ink wash. Just watered down ink. It flows in the cracks and darkens the nooks abs crannies.

    If you are planning to paint a 3d print that has much brighter colors would you still prime in black and do a black wash or do you have another technique for more bright cartoony prints vs. Graphic novel type dark characters?

      For this I didn’t use my airbrush at all. I use rustoleum 2x black primer.

    Hey bro, did you make a new batch of wash that's darker than you did for the wash tutorial video? Im painting this bust and I like the darkness of the wash you used on this one, but it seems darker than the one you originally showed.

      Yes. I vary on the amount of ink I use from batch to batch.

    Hi, What % of infill did you use on this model? Looking at the scale, I have the impression that it is very low (less than 5%)?

      I do believe it was around 10%

    Hey man, about to do the same print did you use 10% infill? on 10% infil mine is set for 21 hours @ 75% scale of original size

    Unless I’m mistaken you used either an ender 3 or cr-10, what settings did you use, and how did you get such a smooth finish?

      I printed him on a Ender 3 Pro. I get a smooth finish from printing slow. My print speed is 20 mm/s.

      Yes its a timelapse. The extruder moves to a position in the back and the camera takes a picture.

      I have so many paint I couldn’t tell you the specific colors I use. They were all cheap hobby paints. I use folk art brand and apple barrel brand.

    The real achievement is getting this good of a paintjob using Apple Barrel paints.
    Might I suggest switching to Delta Ceramcoat?
    Nearly the same price but X2 the quality.

    What layer height did this print at can barely see the lines! Very nice job on the paint as well

      Thanks!! I printed it with the stock ender 3 pro nozzle at a layer height of 0.08 mm. I have also found printing slow helps a lot. This was printed at 20 mm/s. The prints take a long time but the results are undeniable. Once it’s done I do two coats of a filler primer with no sanding.

      I use simple acrylic hobby paints. I actually just finished recording videos explaining my entire process and what I use in a painting 3D prints series. I plan on releasing this week. Keep an eye out for more info in those videos.

      Sorry it’s been a while and I don’t know what colors I used. I have hundreds of colors and I didn’t write down what I used. It was all folk art and apple barrel acrylic paint

      @@user-ss6db7fq1y I don’t thin them as much for airbrush. The reason for thin paints is you don’t see the brush strokes of the paint and it doesn’t clump when it’s thin.

    That filament on the roll does not look like (to me) the filament on the Print.
    But great filament choice for the print!
