This is the trial that goes on in Pink's head when he finally realizes that he needs to tear down the wall that he has built around himself. PLEASE react to the entire album...WITH the lyrics. It is a true masterpiece.
The DVD of this concert is amazing and has a little history of the wall. This concert is located at the wall as soon as it came down and they removed the mines. It is an amazing work of art
If you haven't already watch the film 'The Wall' to see the full impact of this awesome rock opera. Love the reaction and always love Floyd. As I've remarked on many reactions "Pink Floyd are deeper than the Mariana trench, smoother than a quantum stabilized atom mirror, cooler than an iceberg in a river of liquid nitrogen, more soul than a chorus of Angels and more zen than 1,000 Buddhist monasteries." A true legendary musical force!
Glad you are enjoying the wall
If you are to watch an entire performance of the album, then it should be Roger Waters latest live version. I was lucky enough to see the wall performed live 6 tomes in all, and Rogers last full version was absolutely incredible.
Roger waters' live concerts of The Wall album are truly amazing.
This trial is the beginning of the end of The Wall album, it’s summing up all that’s gone before contributing to Pinks state of mind culminating in the last simple song to finish that album. PURE GENIUS!!!
I TEARED UP TOWARDS THE END THIS IS AN ALBUM ABOUT MY LIFE
It's like opera because it is indeed opera.
After Roger Waters left PF in the early 80s he was asked in an interview if he would ever perform THE WALL again, he said when the Berlin Wall comes down. In 1989 he was asked the same question, and this was the result.
The stage was over 600ft long, with a wide space in front, many famous artists playing, and RUSSIAN military also taking part.
Many WW2 unexploded ordinances were removed from what had been "NO-MANS LAND" for many years, and the crowd was over-run by East Germans, resulting in over 250,000 people watching this concert.
I know, because i was there for an unforgettable experience
I was there too, and as a german growing up in the eighties in west Germany and a big Pink Floyd Fan, it was a very special event. When Waters said he would perform The Wall, when they would tear down the Berlin Wall, everybody thought, okay this will never happen. The rest is history. I like your reactions (especially Rammstein) Greetings from Germany !
its theater, its art, its brilliant, ,the whole wall show floyd and rogers is one of man kinds greatest shows of all time EVER, no one ever thought up anything like it until the floyd came round...
I would advise to watch Roger Waters The Wall DVD which is the concert and also goes into Roger’s back story. That wall is built in the first half of the show and knocked down at the end it’s a true spectacular with all the projected images. Saw it live twice epic.
listening to one song from The Wall is like watching one random scene from The Shawshank Redemption and trying to figure out why Miss Fuzzy Britches is hiding a hole.
You really should listen to the entire album first. Can't emphasize this enough. As stated previously, the wall was an actual 35 ft tall wall built during the course of the show that eventually walled off the band from the audience. It is probably the most elaborate Rock concert ever conceived and performed. Roger toured with it as late as the 2010s... most likely somewhere in your neck of the woods. If I recall, the wall built for this show at the site of the Berlin Wall was just over a city block wide and was performed in front of 350,000 people! The staging for the wall Berlin took two and a half months to construct. The phrase "go big or go home" had to have been invented for Pink Floyd. 😏
100% agree.
First of all, I love your Pink Floyd reactions, you go to the point in every single song and this is amazing!
You wonder what happens after the wall tears down? Well, after this there is one more song, the last one of the album, called "Outside the wall". A really sweet and emotional song, you should react to this too, definitely!
The Wall tour that was taking place back in 70's had the same concept: an artificial wall was actually built during the concert, hiding the group behind it for a quite long section of the concert. After the song The trial, you already saw what was happening... In each and every concert!! The same happened here in this gig.
In the version *_The Wall Live in Berlin_* In addition to *_Outside the Wall_* it's also sung *_The Tide Is Turning_* (*) and it doesn't seem at all out of place "in that context and on that date". Unfortunately, today is something completely different ...

I love your reactions. I wish you great prosperity and success. Your analysis come straight from your hearts, and that my friends is priceless…..this concert is epic
Must watch the whole concert
I was there, with three buddies of mine, at Potsdamer Platz in Berlin on 21st July 1990!
We actually arrived the day before and made our makeshift home on the nearby camping ground, from where we could also listen to the soundcheck runthrough of the show. 😎
The experience I had is indescribable, a once-in-a-lifetime experience! 😀
Thanks for reacting to this grand finale of the show! 😘
Greetings from Germany! 🤗
i saw the original stage performance of the wall by pink floyd in 1980,and it's still my #1 concert ever. in that show, and other live performances since then, the trial is presented as animation projected onto the wall. the same animation can be seen in the film version. roger waters provided all the voices in the live shows, singing the various parts standing at the base of the wall. for the berlin show guest performers played the roles of the teacher, the mother ,the wife and judge with roger singing "pink's" part off stage.
the whole wall concept started when roger had an incident with an unruly fan during the animals tour in 1977. he felt there was a wall between him and the audience who would rather scream and shoot off fireworks rather than sit and listen to his music. he thought it would be great theater if they would physically construct a wall on stage to let the audience feel the kind of separation he had with them. from there he wrote the story of a rock star losing his mind and constructing a mental wall to shut out the world.
it is a story with a beginning, middle and end so listening or watching it out of sequence is doing yourself a disservice. kind of like walking into a movie or opening a book halfway through and trying to figure out what is happening.
My intro to pink floyd was a VHS recording of this concert in Berlin. It changed my life forever...
you really must watch the entire show to appreciate what went into this MASSIVE production
Kind of reminds me when former American president Ronald Reagan when he was in West Berlin standing by the Berlin wall and gave his famous tear down this wall speech challenging Gorbachev to tear down the Berlin Wall.
His last wall tour was visual stunning and spectacular.
‘The Trial’ is wild😅 Definitely the most theatrical song on the album (it is on The Wall album) and one that works a lot better within the context of the album.
Roger wrote this album as a 2 part play. So, if it ever gets to Broadway, it will be very much like this. Pretty sure there were 300,000+ people there in Potsdamer Platz.
They actually build the wall during the first part of the show. As others have stated get your hands on The Roger Waters the Wall Live DVD. There is a couple of parts on the show that will bring you to tears and leave u numb.
one of my turns from this concert is great
I was at that concert as a kid. I had to get the Royal mail train home.
listening to one song from The Wall is like watching one random scene from Forrest Gump and trying to figure out why life is like a box of chocolates.
Od samego początku i przez cały koncert na scenie wzniesiono ozdobną ścianę z bloków piankowych, która na koniec koncertu symbolicznie się zawaliła.
I was there, it was an amazing concert. A celebration of the fall of the Berlin wall 6 months after it fell.
This is from 'The Wall', it's part of the whole story of the album. In this particular concert, most of the people are very well known musicians playing parts. You need to listen and understand the album, 'The Wall'. Or perhaps look at the movie that was made starring Sir Bob Geldof.
Brilliant ❤
incredible version of comfortably numb from this concert, well worth a watch. We foget how important Roger Walters is to Pink Floyd.
Ich war dabei
Das Konzert war einfach unglaublich.
Dort wo Geschichte passiert ist
On the "The Wall tour" 1980....the band build a WALL on the stage, Pink Floyd plays behind.... :)
This is pure genius..
We saw Roger Waters concert the wall in Mexico a lot of people under eight Roger but he’s one hell of a musician, writer, and thinker. i’m going to recommend a song soon by Roger Waters. Actually, it’s a video called leaving Beirut. it’s kind of like the wall I think it’s his best work
Artist Gerald Scarfe a political cartoonist created the album artwork, He created all the characters - the wife, the mother, the teacher as semi-cartoon figures.
Yes, he draws in caricature which is what gives them their exaggerated physical appearances.
Please do full albums, cut them into pieces, the experience will be on another level yet.
Wait till you get to watch the movie "The Wall". You are on for a great time. I hope you both sit down without the world watching and have a really experience without anyone's distractions.❤
Watch the entire concert. Packed with the best musicians and singers.
Roger Waters is God! 😉
I have seen the show.....there are no words! But you should listem at the entire The Wall studio album (or at least One side at the time, cause the Songs flows One into each Other). It's a mind blowing concept Album! ...and then you Will be ready for watching the film, released a Little bit After the great success of the album). Great Job guys! A hug from Sicily!
Have you not seen the whole concert of this, from the beginning? Then you'd understand why the wall in this concert was gradually built.
this song is one of the last songs of The Wall concept cd
The album, the songs, why this wall was built and the reasoning for the date and location of this concert will all make sense if you watch the movie, Pink Floyd The Wall. It would be great to see it as a reaction video
🖖... almost there ....
At the time they did this there was a big thing on the news. He was bragging that they had the largest reflector screen money to buy at that time.
Roger wrote The Wall with a know album, live show and a film in mind. It’s very theatric towards the end of the album and this is the best way to listen/watch the end of the album.
The judge is the actor Brian Cox, the solicitor is Tim Curry (who was the clown IT)
and the wife..... Ute Lemper?? I think
Actually, the judge was played by Albert Finney. Sinéad O'Connor performed "Mother".
@@esq315 "Actually"? In these show! 1990...! Sinead passed away this year....
@antoniocarlin5026
When this was performed in 1990, Sinéad O'Connor performed the song "Mother".

You guys need to watch roger waters the wall(2014)video its only the wall from begining til the end of the album
YEESS!! This should be an interesting reaction. The Trial is a great song. Some might blow it off as a weird tune but the composition, instrumental arrangement, vocalizations, etc. are things you would see and hear in an opera/theatrical performance but the fellas from Pink Floyd got one into a rock album.
Context on the song: This song comes in as one of the last few songs on the album. Pink has determined that he needs to "stand trial" for the wall building he has engaged in his whole life. He is to be tried by "a jury of his peers." The peers turn out to be the people that helped him build the wall. For Pink's crime of wall building, the judge("worm, your honor) ultimately sentences Pink to be exposed before his peers and have his wall torn down. Kind of ironic (and I think intentionally presented in that manner), usually a person being tried is going to jail or to be free, Pink's verdict will determine if he gets to stay in the comfortable prison he has built for himself or will he be forced to vacate the comfort of his wall. Instead of demanding Pink be strung up or executed, the gallery chants "Tear down the Wall"...for Pink, being exposed and vulnerable is a far worse sentence than being sentenced to death.
The music in this tune tends to throw the listener off balance, disorients, and is circus-like. This has to be Roger Water's intentional delivery of what Pink's mind must be like--an out-of-control circus. The symbolism of the music and theatrics as how it relates to Pink's situation is what makes the tune a top-shelf tune.
The version set to music by Roger was totally discarded:

This is the only track for which, in the end ..., the credits were granted to Bob Ezrin (the producer) a deep connoisseur of musical history who 'has drawn' from the music by Paul Hindemith, Kurt Weill and Hanns Eisler designed for Bertold Brecht's Epic Theatre.
@@Enrico.Sbardolini Awesome bit of info!! Of all the reading I've done on these guys, can't say I recall that bit of info!! Thanks for sharing.
You need to watch the film "Pink Floyd: The Wall", in its entirety and not in pieces. Truly the greatest masterpiece of rock!!!
Saw this 5 nights in a row..1980 Earls Court..London...The Floyd.. The Wall..Please do watch the whole thing...Peace.
Always enjoy your reactions guys! This reminded me of a grand London West end musical, not really my thing but superbly done. I'm a big fan of PF however I've only recently listened all the way through the Wall album and watched the movie. I like the music and found the film impressive but a difficult watch which I guess it's bound to be! I can empathise with the loss of Water's father in the war but I find the whole rock star struggle with fame and riches difficult to relate to.
PS I think what was going through their heads is a personal story and societal perceptions. The wall has many bricks from social pressures, fitting in with your peers, an overbearing mother, the loss of his father, school moulding people to become constructive workers and drones, self-doubt, criminality, the rise of fascism and so much more. The wall builds up around us all stopping us from truly integrating with others - mainly due to societal pressures, the nature of competition within the system, peer pressure, personal resources and freedoms etc.
This is Rogers thing. Best.
This song/part, is on the album. You'll have to watch the whole concert, either this one, by Roger, or the Floyd original. The whole idea of 'The Wall', came about during a concert, where Roger was so pissed off by some of the crowd, that he said he would have liked a wall between the band and the audience. And the rest is history! And now, as I've just seen the end of your reaction, if you watch the live concert, you will see the wall being build, brick by brick, each time something 'bad' happens in Pinks life.
Watch this entire show.
There is one more song, "Outside the Wall" 😃
The Wall was there it had a few holes in it , I still live there,
I forbid you from watching The Wall out of order. It will make more sense if you start from the beginning. Like a book. 😅😅
The trial was internal. Inside Pinks drug infested brain. The wall was physically built in front of the band…..you just need to experience the entire album to understand this finale
Watch the film, listen to the whole album. Those would be great reactions
It's a shame you didn't get the last track in "Outside the Wall", a short 2 or 3 minute piece that closes out the album and concert. kinda left hanging without it. 🙁
Please react to the whole album😢
you really need to either watch roger waters the wall concert....or the wall in berlin...but the entire thing....or...the movie...then it will all make sense. .
you must see the movie
NEXT: Cindy Lauper "Another brick on the wall" or Sinead O´Connor "Mother" Same concert...!!
On this album, you can see exactly how much Roger Waters alienated himself from the rest of the band, even knowing the enormous creative difficulties that went into making it. Rick Wright had long since been fired (he had no creative input on this album), and he and David were unable to collaborate at all (if it weren't for producer Bob Ezrin, the iconic Comfortably Numb probably wouldn't have even been made). Waters had completely isolated himself by this time, and his megalomania began to show. This megalomania is evident throughout the album. Neither Gilmour nor Mason were at all happy about it, knowing that it was very much a departure from the traditional Pink Floyd output of the previous years. During The Wall's tour, they didn't even sleep together - Waters flew to the gigs alone by helicopter, the others usually arrived by car. The production and preparation of the tour cost more than they made, so ironically the only one who made any money on this tour was Rick Wright, who was brought in as a hired musician with no claim on the profits from the tour! In my opinion, Waters has built an imaginary high wall not only to the rest of the world, but to the rest of the band. He is without a doubt a brilliant songwriter and lyricist, but as a person he has let me down, and not just because of his treatment of other former friends...
By the way,, it is noticeable that even a brilliant poet and lyricist and the best songwriter may not have brilliant success. Waters alone without the others is half-assed. His solo career makes that clear. Without David, Rick and Nick, he was never able to achieve substantial success either artistically or commercially - his albums after leaving the band were rather weak. Unlike the rest of Pink Floyd who, even without him, were quite successful, even with the critics...
That wall was 160m long, made up of 20kg bricks.
Next react steve vai for the love of god instrumental only 😊
Guys, I understand that you should give priority to those who pay you for a reaction... but I think that this is not the right way to approach The Wall... You should listen to the original work FIRST and THEN the subsequent and alternative versions.
In this case you would have done better to see the film THE WALL first, where you see the entire path that leads to the ending of The Trial. This is just my opinion, of course.
You are always great, keep it up. Bye!
Arriving at the trial without having examined all the 'investigation', all the 'evidence' and all the 'testimonials' is not particularly correct. Will you ever listen to this entire OPERA? There is a "final" after this trial …
In the merits of the "sound" of music you should know, such as Bob Ezrin (producer of The Wall), the history of the Epic Theater by Bertold Brecht and the history of the music that Paul Hindemith, Kurt Weill and Hanns Eisler composed for it in the years of the Republic of Weimar in pre Nazi Germany.
Pleas domenika react band camel
