Can't believe that this only has 51 views a month after posting! I played all 26:53 minutes and learned much. Learned that a side-by-side installation has a completely different purpose than the replace-partition installation. I've been stuck in a replace-partition mindset. So far, replace-partition does not install the Grub2 bootloader for me and I'm guessing that is by design. Is it a feature rather than a bug? Perhaps. A lightbulb turned on for me when the speaker mentioned that the replace-partition option is for people who wish to try and test different installations and different distros very quickly. Not me. I merely wanted to dual boot with pre-installed Windows 10 on an Acer Aspire 5 A515-51-58HD laptop manufactured in January, 2019. I downloaded a pre-release version of Debian 10 (Buster) and it had Calamares on the live CD. I'm grateful for this as Calamares is the only installer that recognizes the internal hard drive on my laptop. Could this be because the laptop comes with some sort of "fake RAID?" I'm still trying to figure out whether or not this is the case. In any case, Calamares recognizes both my internal hard drive and all its partitions, something neither the standard Debian installer nor the LInux Mint installer seems to be able to do. So, I have great hope that Calamares will ultimately succeed in installing Debian Buster in a dual boot configuration. Will try again, this time with the side-by-side option. I've been stuck too long on the replace-partition option and this is clearly not working! Thanks for a great video and fabulous Calamares software. Much to recommend here.

The only weakness in Fedora is that they have not adopted Calamares. They have the monstrosity called Anaconda.

Calamares fails to partition errors occur with most of the install attempts I make . I think an expert mode option would be helpful ..
