How about making spear not equal in range to a dagger?
This^
They said they tweaked more weapons, they should've gone more in-depth.
@@lonesomegavlan7279 Remember devs like to keep some things secretly and not reveal too much so the players discover them by themselves. This is to maintain the sense of exploration and discovering, which is the core of the game. I do hope they reworked spears but I doubt it.
And maybe hold it like a spear
@@CrosswaIk That would be literally the only change they do to Spears and i'd still be happy lol
I dont know if this is a good place for a suggestion but here goes.
Can you add the Sailing skill? Maybe just increase paddling speed slightly? Or even overall speed. There is alot of sailing, especially if you play without portals. It would be nice to get a boost for doing it the same as everything else you do.
Thank you.
I like this idea a lot but if you take a look at the up date road map it goes as follows
Hearth and home
The cult of the wolf
And then ships and the sea
@@Girl-gn9mm soooo by end of year
@@Girl-gn9mm If makes sense to add in with the ocean biome, so be it.
Or make the dragon buff a passive instead of an activated limited time buff.
@@sine_0 Why does no one want to sail as you would actually have to? Reality is you can't always sail whatever direction you want. having that would be busted i think. But the sailing skill would work great. Because in those moments when you HAVE to paddle, at least you wont be stupid slow. Which, I don't really think the paddle on the Longship is very slow, it takes a second to get going sure, tis a heavy boat, but once at max speed the paddle is still pretty fast.
Like my point in that is if it was a passive and not a 5 min active buff, you're basically saying once you've killed Moder you just get to free sail wherever you want. Which takes away the mystique in my opinion. Like, nothing was scarier than coming up to the first patch of plain and not having the wind to just take off and leave whenever i want, adding a difficulty to up and leaving because the Fuling's would maybe destroy the boat. It feels like always having it would be too cheesy. I already hardly use any other buff, so at that point you'd only grab the other buffs when you were fighting a boss or clearing a camp or something. Makes Moder the be all end all (to me, who does a lot of sailing) buff to have it as a passive.
Man, I was hoping for a rework in the spear animations
Hopefully it's still in the update and they just haven't shown it!
@@quicksandriggs hey I watch your vids
@@ragnarlothbrok222 Thanks! Hopefully they are helpful!
@@quicksandriggs yes very!
I am subbed :)
Didnt show at this video, but older videos is clearly visible. I got hmy hopes on!
Now, I may be finally convinced to build and use a large axe. I'll name it, "Hugh Jaxman."
I will admit, I laughed!
I'm stealing that name for the future. Thanks!
wait you can name weapons? how? I didn't even realize
@@BringDHouseDown Don't get too excited, friend. I've named a few cars I've owned in the past as well. I just name all sorts of things. Doesn't mean anyone else knows about it though.
Mogul Khan
woop woop! axeman cometh!
I'm actually gonna make an effort to try out many more weapons in the new update! I was all about the bow and the mace before haha
I dont understand. Why do "tweaks" continue to be the highlights of the update?
I guess they don't want to outright spoil everything. I'm pretty sure that axe is new
They want players to discover the update for themselves.
@@Kathrynerius lol if that's the case I will stay off all discords and other social medias valheim related. I know for a fact ppl will go an fly around the map the first day to check and share the spoilers
@@likethislikethat916 I'm doing the same, lol.
Because they are inept developers who never expected to make millions of dollars
I'd like to see a duel wield build at somepoint if possible even if it's with daggers 😁
dual wield axes like a real berserk viking or dual wield sword and axe
@@johannlehmann2358 you said it brother 😈
yes yeees we need dual wielding
I think dual wielding should only apply on the secondary attacks making it more unique too like for daggers a double jump strike or with axes it’s a flurry of attacks and sword a double stab
I've been really hoping they add more light armor sets. I want to be fast and crit stabby without getting one shot by everything. Plus only having troll armor is pretty boring
That purple axe looked sick ~!
Finally a use for crystal?
@@silverfawkes1219 dragon egg?
Looks like some new weapons as well as that pinkish crystalline axe looks pretty new.
looks like the shimmer of a silver battleaxe bathed in blood
These spotlight videos are great. I took a break from Valheim a couple of months ago but now I cant wait untill the 16th!
Love the updates and am really hyped for H&H!
But where is the hitbox adjustment for the spear??
Edit: spelling mistake corrected
Agreed! Hopefully this isn't the entirety of the tweaks they are making, Spear definitely needs some love!
It's a spotlight series, not an "exhaustive list of every single change" series. That doesn't mean your desired spear change is a thing, but it does mean it might still be.
I really like these. If you could find a way of bringing a spotlight to further changes after the release that would be amazing.
This is AXEtually a good tweak :D
Stop
I wonder if they've adjusted the sledgehammer as well I never used the battleaxe but the hammer seemed pretty underpowered to me especially considering its crafting requirements
Sledge is perfect for mobbing during bonemass but definitely needs a second attack. It's perfect for 4+ enemies because it doesn't have a multiple target modifier
But it's iron so it's useless after bonemass you literally just use it for the swamp. Not gonna be useful unless they make a higher tier one, which if they made a crystal 2 handed axe then they might
That new two-handed axe looks AWESOME! Cant wait to give it a try!
my guess its what the crystal you get off golems will be used for.
I hope you upload that house build video you posted on Twitter in RUclips too, for more visibility
Love this game so much. Thank you Iron Gate for caring about your game :)
I like all the changes you've made, keep it up!
Any spear tweaks? I feel it could use more damage when thrown. Its a hefty sacrifice but would make it worth putting points into and rewarding for those who refine their aim
They're actually holding the two-handed axe with both hands while walking now, i love it
Looking forward :)
Awesome can't wait to try the 2h axe! Also i love these small video updates!
tried it on my last playthrough on a server with frieends, hated every single moment i had to wield that crap... seems i'll have to give it another go, just fixing the wind up time on the first hit would make it usable at least
@@Harakanis yeah definitely, I don't mind it being slow cause it being a 2h and all but as it is right now it's terrible, but it sounds like some nice changes that might make it fun. Plus, that purple axe though!
Keep up the good work, it will only get better from now on.
Is this purple axe a new weapon? Only 2h axe I know is the iron battleaxe
I know you guys probably have a suggestion tab somewhere, but I'll pop my two most desired features to hopefully come:
#1 I know it wasn't a popular approach apart from an axe, but can we see more two handed weapons with different metal variants too ? (Copper, Iron, etc) not every two-handed weapon has to have a representative in each metal type, but would be nice to see a larger variety. Even more so, a two-handed sword or a mace. While sacrificing protection, the power to stagger and deal more damage on swing is definitely a better approach for me, and obviously the different weapon types (Sword, Mace, Axe) to have different swinging speeds and whatnot to make things more skill based and worth knowing what skills you're training for. I was sad with the initial choice for the two-handed weapons currently existing, but I do hope in the future we will see more weapon variety!
#2 I'd really like to see bigger ships having more advantage than smaller ones, or more specifically, it would be nice if people sitting down on benches could help you row faster instead of just sitting idle on the ship. Obviously, to balance the game, it could have positive and negative sides like, less crew means less row speed for bigger boats and the opposite.
I know it's not a suggestion tab, but hopefully you guys read comments and take notes on what people write on all social medias. I'm really hyped and excited about the game, and I do hope you continue your hard work to make this game greater!
I have a suggestion, i posted it on the suggestion tab in Discord, but maybe here it will get more traction.
When Deep North will be ready, and there will be mammoths, or any horned mobs, implement a very grinding crafting of a War Cry Horn.
I'll sing in that horn day n nite, now it's up to you if that War Cry actually gives any buffs or not, but seems very Norse like.
[Spear Weapons] - Tweaks spears attack animation to look like a onehanded Atgeir and put it in same weapon group
[Sword Weapons] - Create twohanded swords
[Mace/Hammer Weapons] - Create common attack animations to twohanded hammers, with ground shake being their third special attack
[Axe Weapons] - Create a third special attack to onehanded axes
[Knife Weapons] - Keep that way!
Knifes should be able to dial wield but should only affect the middle click so it’s a stab stab jump
What on earth is that purple/pink looking battle axe??!!!! New weapon confirmed?
Yup, and prolly made of the (still) useless Golem crystals
@@fcandias useless mistlands, deep north, ashlands biomes, useless flametal+ore, useless Yagluth thing
It's an early access game, none of it is implemented yet. It'll be "useless" till it isn't. Literally 4 people working on this
@@fcandias My thoughts exactly! Can't think of any other material, nor a material they could add with the current biomes unless suddenly we are getting glass?
@@echo5827 The game is far too big of a success for them not to be hiring more people.
Finally the battle axe is now usable!
Spear needs to be reworked.
Is there any plans to revisit the combat system? Im finding the melee weapons dont have much vertical range to their dmg hitbox, as a result you can be right next to an enemy but if its elevation is slightly off its impossible to hit. This is especially a problem in crypts and infested mines on a melee only play thru certain enemies just grant temperary imortatility because they are 3 pixels too high 😂 pls
Nice, can’t wait to see all the new content, kinda glad you’ve only showed tweaks and stuff so far so that we get to find the new content ourselves
@@tron-8140 L
I haven't used that axe before, but I do hope we get more axes down the line. I like me big slow heavy hitters!
Can you please add spear location on the map after you throw it somewhere.... that would be awesome!
can't wait for the update :)
I have a private server with friends but have had some issues. My friend made a large hole going around his house and it’s lagging the server to the point we can’t play. Could there be a patch or fix for this in the future?
i think the only way to fix this is to move out of the rendering distance. Remember that every thing you do creates an instance that takes up precessing power (like: removing trees, pave roads, create trails, lowering/rasing ground, bulding structures)
So keep the terrain modifications to a minimum.
When can we tame the dragons/wyverns?
I am excite.
How do all these weapon tweaks interact with triangle build pieces tho?
i feel like there's alot they're hiding :p
Oh they are. There's also new shields they haven't shown here yet-
@@Axiarus probably too steam
Do i need a new server for this patch?
will you add more creatures?
So excited!! Axe smash!
Will there be more additions that aren't included in the update videos?
They have said that they are only showing a part of the new material and leaving the rest for players to discover themselves, so yes.
Yup, they've said they don't want to show off everything so that we can discover things
That's great news 😀
Is there any truth to what my mate told me about full server restarts on the 16th or is it just a load of crap? Iron Gate TY for this awesome game i love it and keep up the good work :D
You don't have to worry, in their Q&A before they told us that they are working on updates and changes that don't require the servers to be restarted and they intend to continue on that road as long as the programming allows them to but if at any point they figure they need to to a server restart they will prefer to let the player create a new seed in the new version and keep the old seed with content supported before those changes.
I wouldn't hold Iron Gate to always providing an upgrade path for worlds - but your mate may also just want to rest and start fresh too. Ask them which they mean.
@@rossk7927 And considering the game is only maybe 3/4th into a year of early access, there's likely going to be a handful of updates that'll break old worlds eventually
hell yeah, a greater axe? cool! I can't wait to use it!
Woo!
Please add a 2-handed Claymore! I wanna wield a big ass sword :(
Hype!!!
Need farming skill: place 4x4 or 2 x 10 grids. Reduce stamina drain when farming...quality of life changes please.
Love your game. Keep making more of game. Big thank, have good.
Cant wait til 2025 when we get the inventory and mist-lands update!
I heard 2032 will be the Seeds of Love update. Birch, Oak & Ancient seeds!
Just want to play it now..
Humm, is that a new pickaxe I see? Or is it an axe - I can't tell which end is the sharp one! That purple tool on the player back isn't the two handed axe, you can see the model is clearly different, they simply didn't have the tool/weapon in their hotbar and there was a cutscene between walking up the hill and using the battle axe in combat.
Could this mean new ores too? Maybe, maybe not... I guess we'll just have to wait for the 16th!
looks like a crystal axe. finally a use for crystals
we just need more variety of enemies, more biomes and their unique characteristics, more variety of equipment and other items.
Their intent is to work on the next biome immediately after this, the Mistlands. They initially released a roadmap that was like 4 years worth of content, which has currently been refined to their current roadmap with immediate goals for updating the game. There is still tons of content that they plan on adding, that will likely take them many years to get to us.
My hope is that the one-handed spear hits more downward like it seems to :)
I am still confused. why only 1 min? Why isn't there a complication? and can we get like a video with the dev team talking about what is the plan going forward?
New battle-axe? don't remember seeing any sort of crystal weapon before.
Great, so they're fixing some issues with the greataxe but how about adding a blackmetal variant? Kind of lame it's only available in the iron tier right now and still doesn't motivate me to want to use one, even though it's the most BA weapon out there.
there appears to be one made out of crystal in the video.
@@crimsonthunder1178 I hope it's a higher tiered version of the greataxe! Oooo, maybe they gave the crystals you get from stone golems a use now?
Finally!
Yay hopefully I can be the war axe viking I wanted to be now!
Same. Made no sense to me that swords were as powerful as they were.
The way you walk/sprint with it is still not the way most of the players want it to have
What's that purple axe?
That look so good, this update will be amazing. Plz make some changes on spears, it's melee attack range is a little short.
what will be amazing? be able to use a new weapon? against what? its still exactly the same.. kinda dissapointed
is no one going to talk about that purple axe
Was just thinking that
and that new monster. i thought hearth and home was just gonna add building/food content but this is a welcome surprise
@@khalduras784 I see no new monsters in this video.
@@ex_0LL same the fenring has always been there
@@overwatch7100 damn. i never encountered it and i already killed moder
Anyone remembers the 2021 roadmap they showed when the game released? They barely checked one promise on that list.
*Day 217:*
Wonderful work as always!
Playable Fuling when?
Favorite game
YES! 2h axe buff!
I was so sad that my proper dane axe was...so underwhelming. Would have wished for a full on rework of the weapon, but hell, this is better than nothing! :D
Gonna gather my friends again and set out to Valheim when the update comes!
"Tweaks to the bow, to make it less overpowered."
Damnit they knew. In all seriousness though, it looks a bit more sane now, animation canceling in the current version can achieve a ridiculous fire rate as early as the 60's.
Lets add an oil which can be used on outdoor floors, so they don't take weather damage anymore!
Or make rain damage wood till right before it changes color
*AXE BRINGS THE AXE!*
But we still can't retrieve arrows can we?
The one thing no one is talking about but I really would like to see is map generation update. And one thing in it is very simple to do - just have more choices of what noise area to select for landmass generation so we don't see the same shaped islands over and over again.
still waiting for berry bush planting/moving.
Чо так мало контента за такое время а?
(idly strokes the rim of a big bottle of Viking Blud mead) Soon... o_o
Until the advent of the compound bow ( the bow that you see several strings between pulleys) holding the bow drawn is the thing that drains you because it's held at the maximum force. Not just due to keeping with reality but I think it would make for more interesting gameplay if the time you spend aiming has the cost forcing a choice between a good shot and less stamina use.
I'm anticipating this change will make it too easy. The bow is probably my most use weapon over all.
I'd like to see a feature/setting introduced allowing for hardcore mode in which you die and the game ends. Without the actual setting it's too easy to go "oh well" instead of losing.
Wait was that a new axe?
Wait tf is taht big ass axe with the purple crystal?
I wish you guys would add more npc invasion mechanics
how about increasing the data send limit on dedicated servers i literally cant play with 3 or more ppl in 1 spot because its getting overloaded. 1 of us 3 sees the npcs moving and attacking the other two just dont see any enemy while they get killed from invisible sources. great that you overhaul things but please dont forget multiplayer aspects as those are the most important things in my opinion
Is that a new axe with ice?
Axelent news!
No atgeir tweaks? :(
nice they showed a new two handed axe i hope they add
in two handed swords
Hi Iron Gate! Did you know that vikings relied mainly on catching whales in theirs life? I think its not a bad idea to make whales a part of yours lovely game :)
Excellent preview. More games need to learn from it.
Hopefully wolves can sit and lay down they been looking tired. Awesome game hope for boat lodes of viking content.
What about the spear
Were people complaining about the bows?
I was hoping for more moveset changes, but this will suffice, for now.
what about my horrible polearms that have no late-game use other than for farming?
Bows are broken unless your bow skill is at least 40 or 50 now. new updates here rely way too heavily on skill levels being high, need to change how much skills you lose on death or remove it entirely
Did they slam the nerfhammer on wolves? They needed it so bad. Wolves are stupid op in this.
2 hand axes when?
Really hoping the patch consists of quite a bit more than just what was showcased in these spotlight videos. Extremely underwhelming for 7 whole months.
So you're doing nothing for the one handed axe then I guess?
Still no secondary attack on it.
No dagger update? The range is so bad. :(
