Relating to the sponsors and stuff they were talking about at the beginning, this is the transition into esports actually being accepted by the world. Any major sports team has a million things to do with jersey, stadium, hell even beverage sponsors. Events like photoshoots, live streams, done independently from your normal schedule. Along with other stuff outside of what you would normally be expected to do as a player. Now, as they said, more money is being injected into it and players are starting to realize they have requirements to fill outside of just scrims/playing the game. Most teams every now and then would do some sort of sponsorship, youtube video etc. But with additional sponsorships/more money the end product has to equal that. This will only grow over time as esports become more widely accepted. Considering esports teams have the smallest rosters of any team sport, this generally means most if not all of the team will participate in sponsorship events/responsibilities. You can argue that this will hinder their performance, which very well be true. Successful teams will walk this line to boost revenue while still having players that aren't burned out.
100 percent tru. I know players don't like it, and don't wanna do it, but this is legit the price that is paid to improve the image and branding of this sport all together. As the brand gets bigger so will the requirements to participate.
They need to focus on branding the teams better than the players if they want to take the load off of the players. Having some unique aspects to your team as a brand is what will make players not feel that drag from sponsorship stuff. Take the 100T stuff, they don't need the players to do promotional stuff when 100T is a bigger brand than any of their players when considering for a broad market(not counting stuff like closer being super popular for the Turkish audience). So 100T can get their influencers together to promote the absolute shit out of anything they get sponsored for and hit any quotas necessary. Compare that to Dignitas. What the fuck is Dignitas. I only know anything about them because I was a Scarra, QT and Dom fan.
NA players burning out? LOL after 2019 when they switched their scrims to a single block of BO5 I doubt it. If anything, they seem to have an ample amount of free time.
@mcchickenz Only a few teams are hence the complaint about champions queue and how players are doing alternative ways to practice like fudge practicing 1v1s and still getting dumpster in lane.
Then the players need to choose the money or the convenience of only playing the game. They want big 6 figure salaries from teams that, on average, don’t profit from esports. Where are they expecting that money to come from? Can’t have it both ways.
Not really? The way it happened is just unlucky for Jensen more than fucked up by TL. And I think DL is wrong about Steve not replacing Jensen if not for the role swap talks, and rightfully so. Skillwise Bjerg is a slight upgrade if not a sidegrade to Jensen, but I still think he brings more value to the team in terms of leadership, game knowledge etc. There is also the fact that Jensen is a volitile player that can be hard to work with (doesn't seem like there was ever any significant issues with that on TL tho) But the real kicker is the timing. TSM's reputation was in free fall, so there would probably never be a better chance to take Bjerg away from TSM

I’ve gotta say, mandatory workouts will 1000% have a positive effect of performance. Being unhealthy will straight up make you perform worse. it’s good for your health, both physically and mentally. It builds a foundation of responsibility and honestly should remain a part of Esports.
It should be a mandatory log time of 2 hours per week for exercise. Not mandated 1 hour every morning every day. That can be draining and result in mental fatigue. The players should just be told "log 2 hours of exercise minimum per week" and thats it. They can divy up those 2 hours however they want, as long as it gets done.
@@Kaidyn04 sure, but that’s irrelevant to the fact that it does have a positive impact on the players and should likely be something that’s part of their day. I’ve personally ping ponged with my health and anecdotally I can say that I perform better in all aspects of life when my health is in check.
Doing workouts has good effects, but the intensity and frequency should be subject to adjustment - like if anything there are tradeoffs and a sweetspot they should try to figure out. An issue I can see is if player comfort is not taken into consideration and adjustments are not made because the "System" takes priority - both the player and team have to be willing to make compromises. Nothing feels as bad as being an employee of a company that doesn't listen at all.
You play League as a job. Workouts are not related at all. It can be highly encouraged or have 1 team workout a week or such...but mandatory defeats the purpose of having workouts personalized to you (Time, type, intensity, frequency, length, etc.)
@doublelift I thought about the two mid jg thing with C9 and it was more so that Jensen and Blabber are volatile in nature and can easily destroy or be a bit reckless and make some mistakes from over aggression and into certain teams they expected it / knew how to play around it but with Sven golden glue you get hella stability and two rocks that can’t be shut down but will still punish or play correctly and ensure that there is more control for everyone on the team Bc they can be crazy play makers who didn’t lose lane and were impossible to topple at least that’s how I see it
Hi Doublelift, I had a bug where I played a ranked game but received zero lp after the game. When I was in the after lobby it said my lp was processing and it wasn’t loading and I thought ok I’ll just leave the client get my lp but weirdly after playing another rank game I gotten lp however my lp gain from last game hasn’t gone through. I tried to report the bug to riot what happened but I don’t know what to do or if they can contact me about the situation and fix me gaining lp. What should I do?
When you have no routine it's easy to fall into a endless cycle of doing nothing and letting life fly by without you and just wither away. Most of us have been doing it ever since covid19 or us that are depressed or suffer bad anxiety.
1:26:00 Palafox actually thought he understood Zoe matchups better than Nisquick 💀. If Nisqy ever got a worlds skin i feel like it would be a toss up between Zoe and Cassiopeia.
I find it so interesting that eSports are trying to inculcate how other sports function. In football, it's understandable why there's mandatory work out and diets since you use your physical body a lot. But surprisingly, the English premiere league teams didn't have those type of routines until the late 20th century ( I think, just want I know about Arsenal's history). This is one of the of more drier podcast episodes, but the topics are captivating af.
A big problem with LCS as well is none of the players really stream that often/not super entertaining to watch. It's still doublelift/sneaky/T1 that are like the staple NA league streams and it feels like they aren't promoting the game as much anymore in NA. Also the fact that LA has to play on minimum 60+ ping in the REGION YOU HAVE YOUR PRO PLAYERS IN LIKE WTF
In an ideal world, Jensen signs a contract for summer split because I see the 100T roster blowing up (cept Ssum and Closer) after worlds. No disrespect to Abbe, but Jensen added to that top side map would be insane. Wishful thinking!
Workouts and exercise are good but for gamers idk if high intensity half an hour or a full hour everyday idk if that’s the best obv there’s gonna be breaks for game and traveling
C9 Went thru extremes it seems, cause the time right before the benching it seemed like c9 was the meme team with a very laid back approach and sneaky/jensen ran the show. Then as a sign of power jack went to a extreme and implemented the system.
Players complaining about how teams run things, but they still aren’t utilizing their players Union to force these teams to collectively bargain to their demands.
for sneaky to come back he would have to put streaming and stuff back burnered and need a top team. i think if a team agreed that if he made league primary again giving him adc on a top team for the next split he could. but honestly it seems like he has settled well intro streaming from the view of a viewer. Same thing goes for other pros from the past 2-3 years who still hover around league without a team. tbh i think if there were a team or two in an amature league that was allowed to stream their own games comprised of all semi retired pros like sneaky, dl, meteos, nisqy, jensen, zven etc and they just took games half seriously that would be hype. allows for regular streaming and whatever outside of an org, provides experienced opponents for people trying to make it to scouting/academy. could be some amazing weekly content.
Love the podcast, but you should close the league client for these. I kept thinking I was getting messages and stuff on my client, but it was closed lmao.
If a team was made up of only Turkish players with BrokenBlade, Closer, Nisqy, Luger, and some Turkish support they would actually be like top 3 in LCS or LEC.
i feel like blabber eventually falls in to that trap you have when you stomped a game before and then you continue to play like an aggressive asshole like your still fed as shit but then get punished. it feels like he goes like 4-8ish games stomping easilly gets used to it keeps playing like that gets punished and has to readjust and while hes kind of getting back in form over a couple games his team omega mental booms.
There is no way the median is 400k in NA. There are 50 players in NA, if even 1/4 of them were on 400k plus the Riot salary that would be outragous money. Plus these teams have dozens of staff/coaches and academy players. Also a couple workouts a week is defo positive but 1 hr, 5 days a week is gym rat stuff.
1 hr 5 days a week is not gym rat stuff. It’s a few exercises every day. Also, there are players on million dollar contracts that bring the average up. And there’s a minimum salary the LCS offers so the base pay is already close to 100k
@@eFrog27 the people with big salaries do bring up the average, but he referenced median. that means 50% of people get paid more and 50% get paid less.

Question on contracts and buyouts: Do these players still get payed after being replaced ON contract? It seems so one-sided for these buyouts to keep them off teams. I think these players wouldn't complain if they were still getting paid like they should be
A buyout is a buyout because you're buying them out of the contract. You pay that to get out of the contract legally without being sued. So the org doesn't have to pay the full salary but pay an already agreed-upon percentage of the salary. That way the org saves some money and the player is free to pursue contracts with other teams. Buyouts are in most sports contracts. They usually protect teams more than players but players benefit from them quite often too.

Guys can anyone explain what were they talking about when they mentioned the Damonte thing at 25:50 ?

I’ve gotta say, mandatory workouts will 1000% have a positive effect of performance. Being unhealthy will straight up make you perform worse. it’s good for your health, both physically and mentally. It builds a foundation of responsibility and honestly should remain a part of Esports.
It's not more important than actually playing the game and learning more than a 3 champ pool though
It can be highly encouraged or have 1 team workout a week or such...but mandatory defeats the purpose of having workouts personalized to you (Time, type, intensity, frequency, length, etc.)
i love the podcasts, my favorite thing on your channel ngl
LS kicked for not doing push-ups confirmed
@doublelift I thought about the two mid jg thing with C9 and it was more so that Jensen and Blabber are volatile in nature and can easily destroy or be a bit reckless and make some mistakes from over aggression and into certain teams they expected it / knew how to play around it but with Sven golden glue you get hella stability and two rocks that can’t be shut down but will still punish or play correctly and ensure that there is more control for everyone on the team Bc they can be crazy play makers who didn’t lose lane and were impossible to topple at least that’s how I see it
As a TL fan I wish they just kept Jensen and ran with it instead of picking up Bjergsen
I agree I think Jensen is more clutch but bjergsen is more consistent.

AWESOME guest choices!
When you have no routine it's easy to fall into a endless cycle of doing nothing and letting life fly by without you and just wither away. Most of us have been doing it ever since covid19 or us that are depressed or suffer bad anxiety.
Can you upload these to Spotify
1:26:00 Palafox actually thought he understood Zoe matchups better than Nisquick 💀. If Nisqy ever got a worlds skin i feel like it would be a toss up between Zoe and Cassiopeia.
Doublelift and Jensen in EU would be so fun to watch
jensen clim perkz on last summer playoff and clim humanoid on world
Another banger episode!
No champions queue or NA to EU work ethic convo?
love this podcast sm
C9 Went thru extremes it seems, cause the time right before the benching it seemed like c9 was the meme team with a very laid back approach and sneaky/jensen ran the show. Then as a sign of power jack went to a extreme and implemented the system.
Jensen and Larsen must be freaky Friday twins
banger show! more episodes, please!
Players complaining about how teams run things, but they still aren’t utilizing their players Union to force these teams to collectively bargain to their demands.
great ep!!!!!
Can't wait to clap Faker :D
for sneaky to come back he would have to put streaming and stuff back burnered and need a top team. i think if a team agreed that if he made league primary again giving him adc on a top team for the next split he could. but honestly it seems like he has settled well intro streaming from the view of a viewer.
Perfect timing I just got off work and finished getting high
Can we get Diamondprox, Bausffs, Chaox and Theoddone next?
Love the podcast, but you should close the league client for these. I kept thinking I was getting messages and stuff on my client, but it was closed lmao.

Danish people are the korean of eu in terms of gaming. correct if im wrong
Imagine Jensen had been ADC - like g2 did with caps + perkz. Would had been insane TL combo... Seems so stupid to me they didnt do that.
You’re delusional if u think Jensen role swapping adc is better than hans sama, love Jensen but this ain’t it
If a team was made up of only Turkish players with BrokenBlade, Closer, Nisqy, Luger, and some Turkish support they would actually be like top 3 in LCS or LEC.

i feel like blabber eventually falls in to that trap you have when you stomped a game before and then you continue to play like an aggressive asshole like your still fed as shit but then get punished. it feels like he goes like 4-8ish games stomping easilly gets used to it keeps playing like that gets punished and has to readjust and while hes kind of getting back in form over a couple games his team omega mental booms.

It's the orgs not riot who pays the players
1 hr 5 days a week is not gym rat stuff. It’s a few exercises every day. Also, there are players on million dollar contracts that bring the average up. And there’s a minimum salary the LCS offers so the base pay is already close to 100k
@@eFrog27 the people with big salaries do bring up the average, but he referenced median. that means 50% of people get paid more and 50% get paid less.
@@eFrog27 median salary not average. It means the 25th most paid player is paid 400k

The only chance NA ever had at winning worlds was season 1 and the only chance at winning MSI was when doublelift lost in finals. NA needs to stop filling teams with burnt out imports and focus on young american challenger players and training them into gods for when they turn 17 18 and then are ready to crush the world.

Question on contracts and buyouts:
Do these players still get payed after being replaced ON contract? It seems so one-sided for these buyouts to keep them off teams. I think these players wouldn't complain if they were still getting paid like they should be
I think they still get something, but way less than if they play. Depends on the contract tho.
