High Skill Low Income? How Did I End Up Here?

  • Material rich, income poor. If I'm so skilled, how did I end up here?
I don't spend enough time to go into detail but I've managed to get myself kicked out of my studio, due to lack of work, and lack of income, despite being a highly skilled crafter. Why have I never been able to accrue any wealth with all this talent?
Nothing gets answers but a theory is posited!

I am like you, people tell me "you're so talented" I tried many times to get a troupe going, but it always fizzled. Now that I'm retired I could probably do variety show busking, but COVID has shut that venue down too. I always had to work at a trade ( Mine was printing and I'm too arthritic to run around a 120' press any more). I also have bi-polar disorder which has leaned mostly to the depressed state. I now use liquid vitamin D3 (by Metagenics) which helps with that. Anyway your Rick Rubin is probably the best marionette on the planet. Disney or some huge company would probably benefit by getting you to do advertising gigs. What you need is skill or a buddy who has skill in marketing. COVID has shut down a lot of theater but a guy with your talent and Mechanical skills should be able to plug a product or service or even do TV work. Performing arts has taken big hits lately, but when you are among the best of the best there has to be somebody who needs you. (They just don't know it yet). Get busy with making when you have time on your hands. Puppeteers of America might be able to help you. Don't let go of any figures you love (I did that to my regret) unless they are copies.

How much money you need man? I am curious. I might be able to help you a bit. I am going to contact you for a job. Not a big job but, I hope it helps a bit.

Poncelopoly unfortunately I wasn’t able to hang onto the studio. I’ve been living and working out of a truck for the last 8 months.
I can still use the work but I’m no longer in a place where I can take on big jobs. Mostly I’m doing illustration these days.
My website is geahkburchilldesigns.com if you’re interested.

Well, things got a lot worse since I posted this video, but I think they’re getting better now.
