    An amazing tutorial Michelle, thank you. I have to admit the instructions confused me when it came to attaching the sleeves but your sewalong is so clear that I now have a completed bodice. Thank you 😊

    Michele, this is a fabulous and detailed sew-along. And oh my Lord you did an incredible job of sewing. It sure is a labor intensive dress to sew but your camera angles were spot on. I loved the close ups you did when you were showing us how to attach the sleeves to the bodice. I seriously think I could construct most of this dress by your video alone. Thank you so much for all the time and effort you put into your sew-alongs . And the part where Bentley was voicing his opinion was adorable. I just love your cats. I now have a miniature Bentley. He is a very light blonde Tabby and I named him Buster. He is very vocal and so smart. I did a little research on Tabby cats and had no idea they were so smart and affectionate. I will say I've spoiled mine rotten but I don't mind a bit. He knows he's loved. Again, your Mabel dress turned out so beautiful and you look great in it.

    Haya hun. Wonderful tutorial 💙Funny thing is today I thought of you when I filmed about my Mabel makes (vlog out tomoz) When I told you about the front tie not being functionable, that is why I opted to make mine functionable & omitted the front elastic ☺I also dislike the seam down the front which is why I cut mine on the fold 🙂I am thinking of maybe doing a vlog of how I do it, then link your fantastic tutorial for people to go watch, yay 🤩Now you have the shirring bug, you will want to shirr more 😍Awwwww Misty & Bentley 😺😺💙💙🐾🐾Really liked everything you were wearing 🤩The fabric you chose for your Mabel is beautiful 🤩You look amaziiiiiing 🥰Hope you have a lovely time at the reception 😀Thanku 'sew' much for sharing, all your hard work & time bringing us your sew along. Give cuddles to your fur-babies for me 🪡✂🧵🙂xx

    All you have to do to lower the waist is add about 3-4 more rows of sheering to the skirt. I've done that to a rtw thrift store dress for my g'daughter. It's easy peasy to add the extra rows. Just unpick a couple inches of both sides below the last row of sheering.

    Thank you so much for this! I have been crossing my fingers someone would do a really good Mabel tutorial for weeks now! This is very helpful as I begin my first Mabel in dress form. I have sewn two "wearable" Toile blouse versions.. one just felt too short on the bodice (I'm 5 ft 4) so I lengthened the second by almost two inches and much prefer it. Hoping my dress will work. Thank you again for your invaluable Mabel sew along!

    Thanks for sharing your sew-along! You are sooo good at explaining everything you do and why! And you look so lovely in the dress, it’s so romantic and feminine! I was also thinking (as another comment) that there must be a way to avoid the front seam and also make the tie string functional. Another change I thought of when you were struggeling attaching the bodice to the skirt - why not cut out the bodice and skirt as one piece? And then draw lines with chalk where the shirring goes. In that case you can do the shirring last of all and place it after trying the dress on, tie a ribbon round your waist an make markings. You would get an even smoother feel round the waist when you’re wearing the dress as well.

    Fab tutorial Michelle! I’ve just about finished my version and your help was much appreciated 😊. I feel like mine feels loose on me and will probably use shorter elastic for the sleeve head and top of the front bodice next time. I was worried the waist would be too high so I just used 3/8” when adding the skirt to the bodice which seems to be ok for me I think. Yours is absolutely beautiful! Xx

    I completely laughed when you tried on the skirt part. I laugh now even thinking about it. The waist not hitting you in the right place is a bit disappointing. I am 5'10" and I always add one inch of length to my bodice pieces for anything I see drafted for 5'6" after making several dresses where the waistband floated above my natural waist. The dress looks beautiful on you though!

    • @SewingBunny
      @SewingBunny  Год назад

      Thank you! I trace my patterns as I don’t want to cut out the main pattern and then find that I need to make an alternative size either for myself if my body changes or if I make for other people. It also helps for me as I often grade between sizes and I find it easier to do using tracing paper. Lots of people cut the main pattern out but it is my preference to trace x
