My Dad drove this stretch as a kid in the 1990's going from Austin, TX to New Haven, CT. I haven't seen it since with my own eyes, grateful for this video.
Richmond is quite big even here in Virginia. The view of the james river is definitely beautiful here especially in the back roads of interstate 81 here in this state
Lived in Richmond for three years, I’ll always associate this drive with going to a dispensary 😂 becomes a damn video game when you get north of Fredricksburg
When visiting my family in Maryland the Indian Head exit took me near their house, sadly they both have passed away, but those were great stressful memories driving on that Beltway from Pittsburgh to Maryland.
Ugh. Living in Richmond I can vouch 95 from Richmond to DC is the worst god awful stretch of road I’ve ever driven on. It worsens 10 fold around Fredericksburg and from there…well good luck lol.
Am I familiar with this! An afternoon run; you can see southbound I-95 is normal for that time of day (parked). The Mixing Bowl wasn't too bad at all; better than the old ramps. Many familiar places from the Occoquan to Ox Road to the parkways. I used to stay at my sister's and use Metro; the one place I would leave my car. Not just for traffic; no parking either.

I'm surprised no one has talked about Kings Dominion yet (24:25) . I love going there 3-5 times a year. (I go southbound 95 from MD and I love that stretch of road) It's a very cool park, with lots of cool rides there.
0:12 I see the familiar pack of cigarettes tower. It’s how I know I’m not in New York anymore, Toto. 😂 Sadly, that whole Alexandria traffic looks all too familiar.
I don’t think we ever got your opinion on reversible express lanes Mileage Mike. How do you feel about reversible express lanes on I-95 and I-395 in Virginia verses the express lanes on I-4 in Orlando Metropolitan Area?
I think I mentioned them on that video about I-95 in Virginia but overall they don't really work well here. This segment would be more ideal for a NJ Turnpike style setup or the Orlando type. They probably went with this due to the cost of acquiring land next to the existing roadway.

I grew up there....Richmond has a pretty impressive skyline for a medium sized city

I lived in dc about 12 years ago and the traffic near alexandria was actually horrific. I can't imagine how much worse it's gotten
I love Highway driving very peaceful.
The scenery here is beautiful.

I’ve been on this stretch before
My aunt live in Richmond VA
One of the most dangerous and congested stretch on the Northeast corridor
between Baltimore and Phila is pretty bad on the weekends too.
@@arc8216 sure is man
Oh yeah, especially after the beltway split but it does start as far south as Quantico.
Virginia is part of the South, not the Northeast

This is Virginias version of Ontario’s 400, a popular getaway route for holiday travellers.

Almost got rear ended on the ramp from 95 N to 64 E
0:01 This was my first introduction to modular glare screens.
I actually live between Baltimore and Philly. Chance to finally meet you when you’re close lol.

Always traffic on interstate 95 north going towards Washington DC 🌹🌹🖤🖤
I'm from Newport News Virginia 🌹🌹🖤🖤
right at the start, the Big Cig!
This is one of the hardest segments I usually experience because of all the congestions and constructions.

@@MileageMikeTravels Thanks for your opinion.
How about a 4 north and south expresslane? @@MileageMikeTravels
3:05 The US 33 shields here have been erroneous for over 40 years. They are supposed to go away soon though.
Are Germantown, Waldorf, and Glen Burnie, MD next?
No. Didn't film in Maryland this time.
@@MileageMikeTravels, so are Salt Lake City, West Valley City, West Jordan, and Provo, Utah, next?
ah, it's the final stretch when coming home (from the south. OBX, MB, or Florida)
