    Hello to you both! Orkney cheddar is really top notch, glad you could find it. I would love to be able to nip down to the cheese shop and grab a good chunk of 10 different fresh cheese's, and send them to you, alas not do-able but if it was I reckon the video would be over an hour long. Fresh baked crusty bread, crackers, loads of cheese and umpteen different chutneys, (also pickled shallots - oh boy, I used to eat half the jar of them on their own. Home made by my Mum .) Looking forward to the next one. Stay well & safe both of you.

We appreciate the thought on the 10 different cheeses, and you're right, it would be a long video :) The pickled shallots sound delicious :) Thank you and hope you have a great weekend and a Happy Friday! :)

    I think you're taking it too literally when using the chutney and which cheese to use, just try anything you want and you'll find your favourite, I did enjoy this video and I can tell you I was hungry, by the way I haven't tried rhubarb and date so I'm glad you've tried it and I can get some now and I think the tomato chutney is lovely, I don't know about the pear but I'd like a brown ale chutney, have a nice weekend you two.

We're looking forward to experimenting with it such as with meats, in sandwiches, cheese toasties, etc. If you do try the rhubarb and date, please let us know what you think. Love the tomato chutney, wonderful flavour. Hope you have a great weekend and thank you for watching :)

    Bought a packet of Carrs cheese melt crackers for the first time this week. They are really good, they have a melt in the mouth texture, even good on their own straight out of the packet. Richard has good taste.

    There's nothing better imo than cheese and crackers....except perhaps cheese and crackers topped with chutney! I've had those crackers before, and similar chutneys, but not those specifically. We have so many different combos available here. Chutney is good with cold meats and salads, obviously with cheese, and in sandwiches, both un/toasted.
    Hope you're all well and still safe from the smoke/fires. We're having a heatwave this week. It's been 29°c here today. It won't last 😅. Have a great weekend and keep cool. 😊

    • @FinnLovesFood
      @FinnLovesFood  3 месяца назад +3

      Hi Agranda, how do you use chutneys in a salad? We can definitely see it with meats and we need to try it in a sandwich.
      Ahh, 29C would be pleasant here. We hit 41C today. We recently had the hottest 20 day stretch in history for our area. Ugh. We're looking forward to fall/autumn!

    • @agranda6379
      @agranda6379 3 месяца назад

      @@FinnLovesFood oh my goodness! And I thought it was sweltering here. That heat sounds horrendous, but as we've mentioned before, you're so much better geared up for it with your air-con at home and in stores. Phew, even so. 😅
      If you've heard of a Ploughman's lunch, that's how I'd use a spoonful of chutney on the side of your plate with cold meats, cheese, a small salad, crusty bread etc. Similarly, there's no reason why you can't enjoy it as an accompaniment to hot meats, pies, pasties too. Enjoy! You've plenty to experiment with there!!

    • @FinnLovesFood
      @FinnLovesFood  3 месяца назад +1

      @@agranda6379 I don't know what we'd do without air-con, though our parents survived in this area without it! During the hottest days it was having trouble keeping up. We keep our thermostat set at 25.5c. A lot of people keep theirs cooler, but that's what is recommended for energy savings. The air con was running non-stop and it wouldn't get any cooler than 27c in the house! Sometimes stores are too cold for me then it's a shock to go outside.
      We did a Ploughman's lunch video a while ago (that's my kind of lunch). Hope things are cooling down for you!

    Hello peeps 👋🏻👋🏻 Yummmm….. that looked tasty and yummy!
    Well, as you may already know, the origin of chutney is from India as a way of preserving foods in hot pickles and spices and the British - in the days of the Raj - also loved it and as a result, we stole the idea from them and brought it back home! 👍🏻🥺 (like a lot of the ‘borrowed’ items in our museums etc … the shame…😂😂)
    If you want to have a more rounded and substantial lunch time meal - this I what I done for family and visitors - and it has been very popular (👏🏻👏🏻me!). A change from the tired old “sammo”!
    If you can get hold of mini pittas (rather than the full sized ones) or what we have over here, a “sandwich thin” (basically a flattened slice of bread and no crusts!) …you would need two slices ☺️
    Collect the food items together what you want to go inside or on top - for me, I would choose either grated cheddar, feta cheese, mozarella etc ..chopped spring onions, tomato slices and the chutney of choice - I like the Tommy one and orchard fruits.
    If the pitta bread is still complete, slice it open so it can be filled, then carefully toast either the pitta or the sandwich thin until is it just crispy but not proper “toast brown” …whilst the pitta/thin is still warm, layer on one side, a portion of the cheese - hopefully it will go a bit melty ….then splodge on a layer of chutney…then bit more cheese (and more chutney if you fancy!) sprinkle the onions and tommies on the top, close the pitta bread up or put the other slice of thin and flatten them together….a glass of fresh fruit juice (some crisps?) - sorted!
    When I tried some feta cheese and chutney on a pitta, I could “almost” have been in Greece as I was eating it! 😲. Next time Imake one, I am going to have some tzatziki on the side and play some bouzouki music 😂😂. Today, we have the Greek weather - for us, it’s “boiling” out there! the
    Of course, you can add what you like really to your pittas etc - just enjoy a little bit of the good old Branston variants, if you can find them in your superstore!

    • @FinnLovesFood
      @FinnLovesFood  3 месяца назад +2

      We typically find mango chutney in our small section of Indian food in supermarkets. I think there may be another flavor chutney, but not much variety! We do have some Indian grocery stores in another part of our city. We'll have to check them out some time.
      Your creations sound very good. I'm trying to recall if I've seen the mini pittas. I'll have to check next time we're at the store.

      Hello @Weedle30 I know what you mean regarding Feta, I love English cheeses but when in Greece going down to the local shop and getting a lump of fresh Feta out of a bucket of water and a bag of fresh Kalamata olives just in from the next island, some fresh Oregano & basil with home made Tzatziki, I can just snack on that all day. Not so sure about the weather though lol!. Have a nice weekend.
