    Battling Barracudas in Bimini - Fishing for Wahoo in The Bahamas
    What a crazy trip to Bimini this has already been! We hit the ground running with a short boat ride over to the famous sunken ship, the SS Sapona. After spending the morning exploring the tropical fish of the artificial reef we headed straight offshore in search for some wahoo. Of course, we were both fully aware landing a wahoo in early September might be a difficult venture and we would definitely be battling the barracudas...but we also knew we had a chance at some Mahi Mahi, blackfin tuna and more!

    Nice Job Ladies!
    The Cudas put their (nasty) scent on your lures, line etc. just like Catfish do inshore.
    Best practice is to either De-scent your tackle or change out - so you stop attracting them. When you bleed the black fin you can wipe it's 'scent' all over your tackle. I know it sounds crazy but it seems to work!
    Looking forward to your next 'episode'!
    Tight lines!

    Tried planer fishing for the first time because of you two and it was a disaster:-). But I will try again...rough water and my first time so worth another shot...otherwise I will invest in down riggers. 2-3' and 5 seconds or so...so yeah... we got rocked in my 23' cc.

    Don't forget to use your good homemade hot sauce the hotter it is the better it is I usually use that about a half a cup with the marinade that's your choice if you're going to fry it up that's panko crumbs what's called that bread crumbs and we usually add some parsley time and all that then mix it up with some buttermilk turns out or zatarain's lemon and lots of lemon pepper that works too so I soak it up overnight with lots of lemon juice and buttermilk I'll talk to you later

    Once you're trolling in the Caribbean, you have high odds of hooking up on Cudas. Plenty of them out there. Matter of fact, where I live, that's the only reason some fishermen go trolling - to land Barracudas.

    Is there anything you can do to reduce the number of barracudas you catch?

    • @GaleForceTwins
      @GaleForceTwins  3 года назад +1

      Technically the answer is to troll faster but they were pretty thick here and we were already going our “wahoo speed” of 10 knots with planers. We could’ve changed our spread completely and high speed trolled (15+ knots) for wahoo but that is a completely set up and gear!

    Hi Gale Force Twins! Quick question, why do you stay in gear when you two have a bite? Obviously it’s much tougher to bring in plus if you release any fish it’s more than likely to die because it’s extremely worn out…. Thanks for all the content!!!

    • @GaleForceTwins
      @GaleForceTwins  3 года назад +1

      In this situation it was because we had a whole spread out of a second planer and other lines. Staying in gear prevents the other lines from going slack so we are more likely to hook up to another fish but also for the fish that we are reeling in…it’s the same concept. Staying tight on the fish prevents us from losing it. We very rarely have and issue with a fish coming to the boat and not surviving. Thank you for watching!! ☺️

    The rule of thumb is we only take small barracuda under 12 in 12 in or under that was the rule of thumb other than that we use them for Bailey shark bait we black tip catch a lot of black tip and a lot of nerve sharks and a lot of shovel nose we use it for baked Bailey anything I mean barracuda will catch a miniature all the time it's nothing new a lot of Kings in Spanish or the fluke the golfland has a little bit of orange a little bit of black to it the fluke aliens spotted they're they're mixed so you get a mixed bag and get a lot of croakers a lot of spots a lot of sand perch but that's sailor's choice that's fish it ain't sure a lot of shrimp you go through and a lot of craps I'll talk to you later imitation crab me salad I make little bit of celery a little bit of onions a little bit of relish dill pickle relish I use less eggs with my thing and lots of invitation crab meat and lots of onions I like it depends on the person just don't breathe on anybody bad garlic to it and all of the mushrooms make sure I had a little olive oil if you like a little olive oil add some Old Bay he's at some salt and pepper that's it and I usually add paprika
