Hi Konstantin, I was watching during your Premiere but couldn't leave a comment. I am glad that you both made it with all of the challenging weather. In a comment I left on Phillip's channel on the Part 1video, he mentioned this part of your trip was challenging and that is an understatement. Really liked the Runway lights in Hannover. They even have night approach lights leading up to the actual Runway. They say that the weather in Iceland is always changing and can be challenging. That was some crazy weather so glad that you got to your final destination safely.

These are called ALSF-2 - Approach Lighting System Sequently Flashing, good for poor visibility landings since at certain point (altitude) you have to transit to visual references to land and airplane. There were occasions in aviation when pilots landed on a road instead of the runway due to poor lighting systems. 🤦♂️

You can see the blurred out instrument quite clearly in the top-right of the screen at @14:38. It is the RPM indicator but it appears as if one of the hands is INOP (?). The other hand is showing 2650 or so.
@@socalfun64perhaps because it is not legally allowed to fly without two operational RPM indicators! It's on the Minimum Equipment List (MEL). Which means he could get in a heap of trouble in Germany!
The T-Bone is my all time favorite A/P. I'm a little partial to the J50. This one is nicely appointed with the avionics. What a pleasure to be able to fly internationally. I have been to several of those destinations, never Hanover. Looking forward to more adventures!

Loved watching these and some of your other videos. My family travels most everywhere by Twin Bonanza (1957 D50). About two years ago my wife asked "What would it take to fly the T Bone to Europe?" I explained the challenges of the Bluie West One routing but she seemed undeterred. Now I can show her a great video :)
Cold? I know two guys that took a Cirrus across the Atlantic in February. Between Greenland and Iceland, the right door popped open. They, of course, had their dry suits on but it got so cold in the cabin that the coffee froze in the thermos bottle. Then, the magneto was giving them trouble, so the plane had to wait for a new mag to arrive. Each time the big hangar door had to open to put the plane inside or out, they charged $1000. One of the two guys hitched a ride the rest of the way to Denmark in he back of a new Citation Mustang. BTW, I used to build IGSO-480 Lycoming engines, like the two on that Bonanza. The nose reduction gear case had close to 500 bits and pieces in it, counting the individual needle bearings inside the spur gears.

Nice and adventurous flight! Professional flying and good common sense. Why was the EFIS speed tape not working on the leg to Iceland? I have a GFC500 autopilot in my aircraft and a clogged pitot tube would get the stickpusher to activate! The carburetor temperature and the RPM's didn't seem very reliable neither. Any way, good job! By the way: we share the same birthday.

This plane is not pressurized. Therefore you need to use supplemental oxygen above 10.000feet since the air is less dense there, containing same amount of oxygen as on the ground, but because it air is less dense - you can’t breath in/out the amount needed to extract that oxygen.

In a twin engine airplane if one engine loses RPM they will go out of sync and it will vibrate enough to tell you that you will soon be swimming. 😊 and a lady like this one has obviously been very well maintained. I feel for you with the discomfort from the O² cannula. I recently spent three weeks in hospital with one of those stuck up my nose. I was very happy when I was able to finally get rid of it.

Never heard of a twin bonanza, I thought Baron was the twin bonanza. And apparently it is. Baron replaced it in 1960. What is a bizarre failure of piston twins is that they consistently use very close to double the amount of fuel as the single despite the cabin being the same. That is just fantastically offensive.
Its a Beechcraft, but not a Baron :) Baron replaced Twin Bonanza, you are right here. Multi engine concept gives you a chance to get yourself safe to land, shall the engine fail at night or in IMC - not more than that; and a little bit of a speed and payload :)

Good question. In the CRJ i believe there is a restraining mechanism for shoulder harness, you might be able to out it in, but if you do not latch it to “tight” - it will be loose. Which occasion are you talking about?

Wearing the survival suit is not terribly comforting. Seems like planning to ditch. The heat should operate like automotive heat. No additional fuel consumption.

Maybe one day! We had one plane modified and flown but i had to hire more experienced pilots for that route.

we used no heater to save fuel, so even though we had lots of clothing, the temperate was around freezing in the cabin

No mixture as it's a H50 with analogue fuel injection, temperature and pressure compensated.
