Back in the late 90s, my boyfriend and I flew to Bimini and camped out on the beach for 3 weeks. It is a beautiful little island and the people who live there are awesome! It was a crazy, wonderful experience, the only bad thing was the tiny gnats that would swarm us early in the morning when we stepped out of the tent...we had to run straight to the water when we got up every morning 😂 The conch salad that was served at one of the bars we went to was so delicious! The beach was so beautiful and the water was crystal clear...it was an amazing experience that I'll never forget!
We will be going back to Bimini in February. We will check out Derrick. We rented our golf cart from M&M. They ride all day in case you need assistance, just stop them they will help guide you and got you back going when your cart broke down.
Lol... we started walking and a guy with a gas can pulled up in a scooter. Apparently they cruise around the island looking for broke down carts all day long.
I will be there he first week of April. For sure wa re renting sa golf cart. How do i I find the Derak at Joes Conch shack I want the Conch salead and I want to try and clean one.......
Joes is right on the main road you can't miss it. The island is not big. Just ask anyone along the road and they will point you in the direction. Tell him you saw him on AlongForTheJourney.... we will be back soon. And get the conch fritters too they are incredible. 👍👍👍

If you just want a beach and pool the resort is really nice... but your not going to see what bimini is all about and see there culture. You can go to that resort beach for free right next to it which is what we did.. but the other side of the island in the gulf cart was breathtaking. You can do both for sure too its not a big island.
Can you drink in public? And can you purchase bottled alcohol to bring back with you into the States? Asking for a friend. We going next week from Ft. Lauderdale using the Huge ferry
I was there last week & met Derrick. I asked him for a conch shell & he happily obliged me. I got 2 of them. I tipped him $5. The cruise ship I was on (Carnival) would not let me bring the shell onto the boat & told me to throw it in a trash can. I threw 1 away but kept the other 1 (it was in the bottom of my bag). Upon returning to Port Canaveral, they didn't check bags, so I was able to come home with my 1 shell as a souvenir.@@AlongForTheJourney
I’m so glad I will have the opportunity to stop there on my next cruise. Cruise is the best as a teaser to see many places that later we can choose to fly to and stay longer if we like. It’s unfortunate that it’s only a quick pit stop at each port. I wish the ship did overnight. But so glad nonetheless for the short stay experience. Yay!!🎉
Ok so I’ve been to Bimini. What you’ve done is misrepresent it. Bimini has nice water, ok beaches but is definitely not paradise. And I’m sure you would never wish to live there. You falsely made it seem way better than it is. You failed to show and mention how run down it is: littered with trash, stray dogs wandering about, broken down cars, golf carts, bicycles everywhere. Dilapidated homes a couple boarded up, but many just rotting and abandoned. Yes, Joes is ok and a couple other bars too, but let’s face it and be real. They are all pretty dumpy. The place is a complete mess that is piece- mealed together. You are not being truthful.
This must have been yout first cruise. Don't trash this island without trashing your home town. Every Caribbean and bahama island has poor areas. My hometown and your hometown has poor areas. That's the world. But take nothing away from Bahamian people they are the nicest on the planet. This island has its beauty and joes food is fantastic. I've had conch fritters everywhere and they are some of the best. Wake up and smell the roses pops ....learn about there culture and there lives or stay in the ship. Read the comments on this video people love this cruise port. Stop being a pessimist.

I just went in June and I have fun. I stayed in a Airbnb I was able to walk to the beach. I took the fast ferry from Fort Lauderdale to Bimini m.
