THANK YOU SO MUCH We're doing this for my school show and I am so intimidated by the videos I've seen of the dances- we're apparently actually using this audition dance as the audition dance. The breakdown gives me some much-needed assistance(I'm not really a dancer but I want to get in to the show and improve the small amount of skill I have)! Great work, you are my dancing savior.
PestiferousPandora'sParody happy this helped a bit! The turning section is different because I had to adapt to the skill level of my kids, but I’m so happy it helped. I would love to hear how the show went!

Dancing involves much more than memorizing a few steps together. If anything, professional dance auditions prove just that. It’s the energy in each step, the emotion of each movement, the sparkle in the dancer’s eyes. Standing out as a solo dancer, yet knowing how to blend in a chorus line.
This is SO FUN. Thank you. My friend and I tried to learn it during the intermission of the Tony Awards this year, but couldn't find the right video for us, but this is perfect! Thank you again.
This is amazing! I’ve been trying to become a better dancer for a while and I’m hoping that learning and doing this dance a lot will help me improve. Thank you so much for the clear demonstration ☺️
muscle25ftl hey! I have been in the show regionally and learned the choreography the our rehearsal process which in total was about 3 weeks. So we probably learned this choreography in one rehearsal haha. Doesn’t make it any less challenging!Breaking down a modified version for my students was a fun process.
Would love a slightly slower breakdown / talk through of the choreo!! It’s super hard to find online and even the breakdown goes so fast it’s tough to be precise when following
This is the best tutorial out there thanks so much! And this 4* year old slows down the speed using the settings just fine. Do you have any suggestions if my knees will not allow me to drop down low in the very first part of this? 😭😭
just a couple things- just be careful when vocalizing your steps because i noticed in the spin parts its two beats and you say "spin, spin," when it's really one rotation. you should also maybe not wear black because it videos when you cross your legs its hard to see which one is in front.
Just a couple of things: this is a really old video. Like, years old. It was also for kids. It was also made on like, Microsoft movie maker. It’s also free for you to view. If you want A+ quality, go pay someone.
Mini Haha oh totally. This was really meant as a breakdown for my cast of high school kids to have an at home rehearsal aide. I totally let loose more while performing :)
jaye simond I already explained that it’s a demo video for children. My attempt was to make incredibly clear movements. But yeah, thanks for coming back to the same video and ripping it apart.
rhiannonbway yes I directed and choreographed a the high school edition of A Chorus Line with children in NYC. There are many HS editions of shows now.
Ha! Thanks for the feedback. As I wrote in other comments, this was just a rehearsal demo for my high school students. It's not for performance. I hope you can add some flexibility and extension when you're dancing it ;)
During corona my dance studio challenged us to learn this, thanks!
Jordyn Burk lol sameee
That's awesome! Thanks so much for watching!
Same!

its so helpful to see it from the back! 70% of my challenge in dance is figuring out from a video if its right or left hehehe. thanks!

jaye simond yeah, chill. This was a rehearsal video for my students to work on the choreography at home.
Knowing the steps first does help a bit though

Happy i could help!

Still helpful 7 years later, thanks
Oh yes, this should be in EVERY musical theater person's audition repertoire. Thank you 😁
THANK YOU SO MUCH! Will be using this forever and ever for auditions ❤️❤️
AHH i wanna learn this so bad! Here goes nothing 😂
It's very difficult, I don't know what was thinking Michael Bennet when he did this lol
AAAAHHHHHH
Why is this so difficult ;-;
Aqua Dino because Michael Bennett was nuts lol
I am 39 years old...and I am challenging myself to learn this!
I don't know why I decided this was the dance I had to learn... one hour of practice so far, got through the steps but I'm not nearly at tempo yet.
Thank you!! I will be in this show as part of a competition and this video has helped me immensely!
Emmy Johnson love that this helped!

You can change the playback setting to slow it down. That’s what I had to do!

How was it?
Thank you this is very helpful
Sara Long so happy to help! Just note that the turn section is different. I had to adapt for my kids.

Okay I can learn jazz, I got this… But I have never taken a single ballet class 😳

Bright youth.
Is this the original choreography the original cast used??
Yup. It's in the licensing to use the same choreo. The revival even used the same choreography.
Not fully, some things are changed as this was made for the person's students
theater kids

A bit stiff. Still better than me though.

If it weren’t for recognizable music, It almost looks like that dancer busted out some Irish dance moves. Very stiff upper body.
jaye simond I already explained that it’s a demo video for children. My attempt was to make incredibly clear movements. But yeah, thanks for coming back to the same video and ripping it apart.
@@JustinaErcole children.. in a chorus line?
This is a tutorial.... plus Irish dance looks literally nothing like this (I would know, as I am an Irish dancer)
rhiannonbway yes I directed and choreographed a the high school edition of A Chorus Line with children in NYC. There are many HS editions of shows now.
this is . . . . not good. where is the flexibility? the extension?
Ha! Thanks for the feedback. As I wrote in other comments, this was just a rehearsal demo for my high school students. It's not for performance. I hope you can add some flexibility and extension when you're dancing it ;)
@@JustinaErcole well if i were going to put a performance on you tube for anyone to see, i would not half ass it, but that is just me.
@@claddagh1826 My kids found this incredibly helpful so that's what matters in the end. But again, looking forward to see you full ass-ed version.
@@claddagh1826chill. It's a very helpful, step by step breakdown of the choreography. This isn't a performance. 😂
