I've quit alcohol since a few weeks now, and this channel amongst other buddhist channels has helped me with this. It is not easy(I am sure I will keep it up) but video's like these keep reminding me, and I am also of course reminding myself.

The questions and your answers about back pain helped a lot. Thank you for answering and to the person who asked them. I have the same problems. I have quite a selection of meditation cushions and a meditation stool. None of which have worked in stopping my leg from going numb or my back from aching. From today,I will sit directly on the floor and in the position you have suggested and see how things go. Thank you 😊🙏🌹🙏

I'm rather a liability, mainly because of intoxicants. I feel like I have the wisdom to quit, but not the will or strength too. How can I practice Seila and Samedi to build courage and commitment?

Phra Dan I have a question about the absorptions, the subject of Vimutti, animitta ceto vimuti specifically. How do we practice signless liberation of the mind? Thank you 🙏

Hi, is it true that Thai monasteries are more specific about who they let into the house if they intend to become monks. like they require accurate medical history, health certificates, if there is even a small indication of even depression, they won't accept you in? And is there an age limit of about 50 for most monasteries in Asia?

It can be useful to have a small cushion to support the tail one area where one sits half on it so the hips tilt forward and this can help with posture.

Most spiritual traditions, and even some schools of Buddhism, recommend some sort of Mantra or Kirtan or Singing, and also Statues and Paintings or Visualisations. Yet Theravada Buddhism seems to discourage or adapt them in least amount possible. Probably you Bhante are not so qualified to answer why other recommend use of Mantras etc. but can you answer why does Theravada school not use them? Is it viewed as something wrong? Are they creating a sort of distraction?

I have a question and it's not meant to be a rude "gotcha" question, but what are your thoughts on self-defense for the sake of yourself and your loved ones? If a person or animal, god forbid, were to attack you or someone you cared about, I would expect defending yourself by hurting/killing the attacker to be a contradiction to your pacifist philosophy. However, in my mind this type of self-defense is a form of keeping peace. In my opinion, to do nothing and let the violence continue would be to let evil triumph. What are your thoughts on this as a pacifist monk and how would you handle yourself if in order to defend, you had to attack (assuming running and asking for help is out of the question)? Apologies if this is graphic or slightly upsetting and I hope you're NEVER put into this situation, but I've always been curious about this scenario.
Much peace and love EBM. I'm always fascinated to hear your thoughts on different subjects.

    Dear Phra Dan,
The Buddha's body died after he knowingly accepted and ate expired fish.
Should we follow in his example and always accept others' kind gestures even when it would seem logical to refuse?
Thanks for your precious time 🙏

How can one gently, shortly and appropriately answer to someone in Europe "what is Buddhism"? Especially if someone is initially not very spiritualy inclined, and knows nothing about it or Eastern Spirituality. Or a teen or a child. Sometimes when I straight say it's the Way to the End of Suffering and so on, people imagine that's an extremely austere, gloom practice, like a kind of self-mortification.
