Om Dum Durgayei Namaha
The Goddess Durga is said to have the combined powers of Lakshmi, Saraswati and Kali. This mantra is often used for protection against internal or external negative forces.
Simple Translation
"Om and Salutations to that feminine energy which protects from all manner of negative influences."
Goddess Durga is the mother of the universe and believed to be the power behind the work of creation, preservation, and destruction of the world. Since time immemorial she has been worshipped as the supreme power of the Supreme Being and has been mentioned in many scriptures - Yajur Veda, Vajasaneyi Samhita and Taittareya Brahman.
The supreme soul is otherwise called Shakti (power). From this power, generates all forms of knowledge of the world and it is accepted as vital cause of creation, existence and destruction. According to 'Shree Durga Shaptshati- Rahasyam', the original power is Mahalaxmi that created three pairs of Supreme Powers. They are Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva as male and Saraswati, Laxmi and Parvati as female, and they married respectively. Maha Saraswati is well known as Brahmani, Mahalaxmi as Vaishnavi and Mahakali as Maheswari. Durga Shakti is the original cause of all the present or past worldly occurrences. Durga Shakti is called as Adhyashakti, Paramatma Shakti or Ati Prakrutika Shakti. She is creating and controlling other two powers: Natural and General. Natural Power is called as Atma Shakti, Prakrutika Shakti, Pancha Mahabhuta Shakti etc. This Shakti creates and controls the General Energy. General Energies are called Jada Shakti or Tamashakti. By the blessings of Durga Shakti, the mother of the Universe, man is able to get his emancipation or salvation and indulge in enjoyments in performance of his daily activities. So Vyasadev, the eminent poet of "Devi Bhagwat", has aptly described "Rudrahinam Vishnuhinam na vadanti janastatha Shaktihinam Yathasarbe probodhanti Naradhamam". The powerless persons are despised as mean persons. So, by being devoted to the Supreme, we should be strong and powerful by her grace.
Durga beej is Doom but when any mantra is recited, the tone can be changed a little bit based on the music and emotions of the chanter. God is concerned more about the emotions of the one calling him or her rather than the pronunciation of the actual words. For me, when I think of durga, I think of Power. Hindi word for power is 'Dam'. So the words can be changed based on the emotions you carry when you call the gods. Hope this helps !

I was just walking a trail in the woods where I have been walking for 20+ years. I asked Mother Durga to give me a (NATURE) sign if she was available for me to pray to, and had Grace for my life. To all brothers and sisters who have asked whether or not this mantra (or any other mantra for the matter) works on him or her if he or she is a non-Hindu, the answer is an absolute yes. Hinduism has never centered on the human race. It has always been about the human soul, mind and consciousness. The only criteria for this mantra is your living, breathing self and your belief. This Mantra works... very quickly. I was in an environment that was not only haunted, but around another person who was in a negative head space. I am chanting this everyday 108 times. After reading Raghu's comments I will increase it to 1108 times a day. Benefits are there in life and career. Negative energies are getting removed. Lots of blessings you will feel in your life.

I can say for myself that these prayers are powerful. In *August 2023* the *day after* I started to pray to Maa Durga, I suddenly won *a free degree course* to study at a college of my choice. My name was chosen at random out of over *1,000 students* who had also entered this competition. It came at a time when I had no money for my degree tuition fees. I am still struggling financially but I do live in hope for now.

I chant for peace and freedom and good health to be restored for myself and all who come to this page who have been afflicted with toxic situations.(The chants work, there is some improvement, long way to go but it is helping indeed.)

But what I like to say is, that we have (Suriname Hindoestanen) friends. For over 40 years. Me and my parents as well, we have a lot of friends from all cultures. It is imperative that I listen to this or the Kali mantra, more so the Kali mantra to destroy enemies and their wicked doings, because my light irritates their demons. These work BIG TIME. I listen to this or the other Kali mantra just about all day, and definitely all night on a loop, until I wake up; and I sleep in peace. Yesterday 08/09/2020 I chanted along the entire hour and before I got to 30 minutes I felt a feeling of well being and joy all together and believe or not clients started calling. Perhaps I am wired differently than others, but as soon I started listening or chanting wonderful things happen. I just finished another hour and my whole body is vibrating so good. Yes I understand this I discussed it with one of my very understanding friends. The knowledge is money and I am holding the money out in my hand but nobody is grabbing it lol.
I used this mantra to protect our new home from negative energy and ill will of others. Especially the neighbor. He is scaring me and he and his friends drive by at night trying to intimidate and circle around. I pray and meditate to the mantra with the intention of safety and protection of all that dwell and are welcome to enter here. I used blessed rock salt and did a sage cleaning. @Marina Hanna you sprinkle the salt over doorways at the front and back door, and also around the porch. It creates a "protective ring". But it has to be blessed salt and a neat short cut to get this salt is getting Morton's Kosher salt.
I’ve learned that it is key to do this daily until you are constantly in a state of confident protection. The attacks are consistent so I’ve learned to stay very vigilant with this Mantra, I shared it with my father and he reminds me of the power of this mantra regularly as he uses it as well…. Wow, my mind is BLOWN! I was really suffering from severe tooth pain-I’m getting a root canal done tomorrow ): I accidentally chewed food on that tooth and aggravated the hell out of it! The pain radiated throughout the right side of my jaw and went up to my right temple like a splitting migraine. Literally felt like my head might explode. The pain was so unbearable, I was thinking crazy thoughts to end my misery-yeah, i was desperate for any sort of relief in that moment. I brushed my teeth, did a warm salt water rinse, followed by a hydrogen peroxide rinse, then used an all-natural sensitive mouthwash, and finally applied clove & peppermint essential oils, This entire routine helped me relieve or totally rid my pain every time! NOT THIS TIME! My tooth showed no mercy as I nearly lost my mind. It is the absolute WORST pain I’ve ever felt in my life! I noticed my headphones nearby and played this video-took 2 hits from a blunt-AND I WAS REBORN! (‘: Wow, I feel like I’ve transcended from my suffering body and I’m floating somewhere between worlds. I don't think it was a coincidence that a customer made a reservation to our hotel after listening and chanting to this. We haven't had any reservations for a while now due to covid. We were feeling down..
