  • Darth Malak's tattoos and his baldness are truly iconic within Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic. However... there is a very tragic reason behind why Malak went bald, and why he chose to tattoo his head...

It always felt from the first playthrough they did an injustice to Malak charakter. He was a bad guy because they needed a bad guy. We didn't get much background other than he rebelled because of power. A typical bad guy plot.
If they added a veteran in the game, say a captain in hiding who've been there with Malak from the beginning, or even changed Canderous story telling us he was there on Flashpoint station and saw, and they explain what has been done to him, we'd got a masterful story.

@100% Star Wars You neglected to mention that Alek Squint's unnatural height, was also a product of Demagol's experimentation upon him. In the beginning of Knights of the Old Republic comic, where Alek stands next to Zayne Carrick, you can see their height being pretty close. When Carrick frees the captured Jedi along with Alek Squint Squinquargesimus, you can see his height is well one head higher than almost everyone around him, including Carrick. So there's that little persona signature of Darth Malak.

I would like to imagine with the Unknown Ancient Sith Empire that was originally planned for Kotor 3's story Darth Malak's idea and strategy of counteracting them unlike Revan was more for military conquest and through uncovering more about the Star Forge's technologies through further research and experimentations of weaponizing the Dark Side in order to further equal the plain field with the Ancient Sith on a fundamental military level and conquering the galaxy quickly while Revan was looking at it through different perspectives and methods that were more retrained and cautious unlike Malak was thinking who wanted to end the conflict quickly more aggressively and coldly logical in his mind.
People seem to perceive Darth Malak as a tyrannical idiot when they look at the Old Republic but that is not the feeling I was getting from him. I saw him more like what military general in a high central commend position would think while arguing with Revan the commander in chief.
Plus in Kotor he fully knew Revan would beat his forces and wanted time to activate the Star Forge's full potential and defenses.
I think Kotor 3 would have shown Malak as a bit of more understanding commander and warlord then what Swtor gave him this perception as.
A cruel warlord? Yes. But nessesary cruelty he only knows must be enforced by his own doctrines.
Which is just one of the many things I dislike Swtor had done to discredit many of the original ideas and narrative of the Kotor series which could have become a Trilogy.

I'd love to hear your thoughts on the Ancient Sith and their knowledge, or lack thereof about the Star Forge! Ajunta Pall alludes quite heavily to the treasure of the Ancient Sith from his era to be the Star Forge, but I have yet to see this referenced anywhere else. I don't believe anyone other than the Rakatta, Revan, and Malak had anything to do with the Star Forge, or even had any knowledge whatsoever about its existence, and yet Pall seems to state otherwise and the Star Map is located within Naga Sadow's tomb, which couldn't have been a coincidence.

I think Malak is my favorite... least favorite villain?
    if that makes sense
He is the most realistic, I can see why he does what he does, he's the most Human.
Scion, and Nihilus (butchered that) are Villain's based on Primal Urges.
While Kreya is well written, her reasons for being full on evil don't make much sense to me, I would assume she'd be more neutral.
But Malak, was a creature created from years of abuse, and just trying too fight back and insure it doesn't happen to others, in some nearby universe out there, he would have become a hero instead of a big bad.
Also, Wasn't he affected by the emperor the same way Revan was? If so that explains why he went full on evil instead of Neutral, he also has plenty of reason to hate the order, and the republic (those who sworn to protect him but failed when it mattered) etc.
    So Malak, TOP TIER VILLIAN
even if he is the least cool in my opinion, he still is the best of them

I saw him as an annoying self-centered coward that lacked any ability to properly plan for the future and only cared for immediate gains, so the perfect Sith based on everything I knew about them from the few games I had played up to KotR. Even at the highest difficulty, I stomped him almost instantly each time we fought and his plot armor victories earlier in the game annoyed me.
As for his actual lore and everything he did outside of the game, I never bothered to look it up since he felt like such a throwaway villain to me. I was sure he was a capable commander during the war since it was brought up at some point and was sure he saved a lot of people while leading them to victory but I never got to experience the version of him that didn't look grossly incompetent and shortsighted.

I was excited for Star Wars Celebration to see if they had any news on KOTOR or plans to make a Movie series or Tv Seriies.Turns out..... NOTHING. I was so disappointed.I hope they do something with the old Republic. The new sh*t is bulllsh*t with all the High Republic nonsense.

A bit unfair since Sion didn’t have as much story as Malak’s, but Traya is better than both.

He's ok, not that cool compared to the others. Somewhat of a 1-dimensional bad guy. Did bad things for good reason, and continued doing bad things.
