@백승민 I actually love Frontispice, the ending chord sequence reminds me of Messiaen. I always thought it was a cool piece because it's completely different from anything Ravel wrote. With that being said, what's the reason behind him writing it? I wasn't aware that there was a reason
I believe there's actually five in total: this one, the minuet from Sonatine, the Menuet (sur la nom de Haydn), the Menuet Antique, and the Menuet from Le Tombeau de Couperin. He also orchestrated the Menuet Antique and the one from Le Tombeau.
@@OwenKeith I bought Ravel's 'Music for Piano' published by Durand but the Menuet Antique doesn't appear to be present. Don't know why but quite annoying.
@@solarean Either he's trolling (most probable) or is a 13 years old who think that his taste of music is superior to the majority and fully believes that the music he hears should be heard around the world much more often. No shame, I have been that kid before.
Just downloaded the sheet music today. So, this is a new miniature piece (for me) and it is a gem. Very nicely played. I might have added just a few small pauses.
where do i find the sheet music? i'm just working on menuet sur le nom de haydn; this is a nice companion piece -- short and sweet. the two together will work
Sally House Heinsohn Note that the score on IMSLP is different then what’s performed for some bars, also in Chamayou’s performance. I don’t know where the eiditon they used can be found so just take what you like from either.
Literally everything Ravel wrote is just perfect. I have yet to hear a bad and unenjoyable Ravel piece.
True
Agreed
Frontispice might get you unenjoyed, but when you know why Ravel composed it, you get to enjoy Ravel better than ever

@@Smin-f3h Hello ! I would also love to know the reason behind this spicy Frontispice piece ! ;)
Thanks, i wish you a good day/evening
Wonderful ninth chords fill my heart!
Best harmony in my opinion, and Ravel truly loves it too
Finally someone said it! I love minor 9ths as well!
this piece is new to me! I thought he composed only 3 minuets for piano solo but this is another one

This sounds a lot like Poulenc! Can't believe I found a new Ravel piece. It's sweet.
oh, that explains why I don't like it. Poulenc is the only composer I fully don't like at all
@@helvete_ingres4717 well i feel sorry for you
@@peabrane8067 don't; I have superior taste, Poulenc is a composer who made completely trivial music, even more so than Tschaikovsky
@@helvete_ingres4717 nobody has “superior taste” the sole concept of that is completely ridiculous.

Very beautiful! Thank you for uploading
I'm learning this Minuet right now. I can tell you that at 0:31 it should be D#, but it's playing D♮. I don't know who's right, but D♮ sounds better
It is a beautiful minuet. Congratulations for your work!

@Ethan Mitchell thanks for the appreciation! :D
Bar 17 I see a d# and listen a D natural. Mistake in the notes or in the performance?
0:10
Dies irae. Probably not intentional though.
WOAH HELLO ENDING
Minuet in name only

It's available on IMSLP.

bar 20 it seems you hit an E on the right hand upper octave instead of F#
0:24
Fyi this edition has a different melody note in bar 12 (at 0:22) - Salabert has an E.
Bar 20 melody written as F# D#, but the pianist played E C# 😢
ugh, the melody mistake in bar 20 really messes me up😢
He doesn't play what is written....
None of them do, for some reason. Maybe the edition shown in the video is errant.
Yep bar 20.....not as written....odd
