I can't imagine how much time it took to be able to create this video (composing and memorizing all for playing and recording and then adding the funny comments...). That is a BIG gift!
I'm going to play the 'Mozart' version as some incidental music in church just before Christmas. Those folk who are too old to recognise 'All I Want for Christmas' will enjoy the classical music , while it will put a smile on the faces of those who do realise what I'm playing! Thank you for the inspiration!
I am not a musician but I love and listen to all these composers. The cheeky commentary is brilliant and breaks open the musical content to help me understand
Not everyone can really pull this off convincingly as good as Nahre Sol. You absolutely did. Captured the composers so perfectly and really came up with inventive variations on the melody and harmony!!!
@ I agree that the animation and humor is uniquely entertaining compared to a lot of the other videos in this format!! I actually noticed and thought to myself “wow… somebody spent hours animating all these little graphics….” while I was watching. But I’m very partial to Nahre’s composition skill and style 😊
I‘m OBSESSED with this style of video ♥️ As soon as you started playing Tchaikowsky I was like “this sounds like nutcracker“ and then came the sugar plum fairy 😂 And you’re so real for Bartoks “ugly ass chords“ lol. Rach was perfection, he‘s one of my favourite composers ☺️ so ✨dramatic✨ I can‘t imagine the time and effort you have to put into composing, practicing, recording and editing this, so thank you!
My God this guy is genius! Love love love this! Equally amazing composing and narrating skills😁 its also a great fun way to learn styles of composers!!! Who is this guy??? Teaching somewhere improv? Or composition? Id take his class! 😊 thanks for such sofisticated fun. Gonna watch one more time. And then maybe few more😍 Genius!
I think Mariah Carey can do what she wants. I agree with you that Josep did an amazing job. But I think it is a little bit humiliating that this song is next to I am a barbie girl and angry birds. Also the description says not a lot more about the song than that it is a pop song. To me and to many others Mariah Carey is not just some ordinary pop singer, but an icon with an inhuman talent and All I want for christmas is you is more than just a pop song. To me at least, and I know I am not the only one. I think she deserves more praise than this! We are lucky to have Mariah still in our midst and for the huge amount of impeccable work she made which is still growing.
@@MissMichele1993 I see your point and yes, Mariah is an icon for sure with All I Want For Christmas being one of the most beloved festive songs nowadays. But if you view the song from a classical, strictly analytical aspect, then it is still a pop song in the end. That does not mean that she is being disrepected here, and her popularity is probably bigger than entire hours of classical music alltogether. But a pop song stays a pop song, no matter regarding its popularity, and it is simply incredible how much Josep developed her song by using all kind of various classical composition techniques. Again, I am not saying that this video will become more popular than Mariah’s original, but quality should not be solely measured on popularity either, and the quality here is undeniable from classical aspects, surpassing Mariah’s original rhythmic-harmonic-melodic structure.
@@jiangyilin_official Hi, I did not mean to compare his piece to the original song, but to compare the song choices for his covers with each other. And piano skills and singing skills are very different skills and in my opinion not really appropriate for comparing. Some people will always say classical music is better. This is just an opinion (as is mine of course). The skill used in the songs Mariah sings is not often (or ever) duplicated with the same quality by someone else (also she wrote all of her songs except the covers). I think she deserves some respect and you can't put her songs in the same lane as I am a barbie girl and angry birds. As you already understood, I am a fan of her, and you are probably a big fan of classical music. Let's agree to disagree (if that is still the case) and enjoy music. Music is amazing!
The Brahms and Bartok were my favorites as most closely approaching the original styles of those guys. Wish there had been Chopin and Philip Glass versions.
How can one person be so gifted in so many ways? A superb pianist *and* a talented composer (of parodies anyway!); he's very conversant with music history, theory and analysis -- and he seems to have discovered how to teach those subjects without the students even noticing that they're being educated! He appears to have all the skills needed to record, edit, and produce professional-quality audio and video (unless he employs a 20-person team of sound engineers, lighting technicians, make-up artists, camera operators, etc.!). I'd say he's a bit of a graphic-design genius! Plus he has a delightful sense of humour and a way with words... he's young, slender, well-featured, and has good skin... and all he wants for Christmas is... me??! ;-)
I didnt know how much I needed this to calm myself down (well Barok didn’t help but LOL) so thank you and please keep doing this videos, as a former pianist I can imagine how much effort and dedication you poured yourself into this
This is just breathtakingly perfect. Thank you. Would you maybe consider doing an ‘in the style of’ for ‘happy birthday’ please, so that we can share the love far and wide as a birthday treat! Qué pasada, as they say. You get MVP for the whole Internet.
If you liked this video I'm sure you'll also like Nahre Sol's "in the style of __ composers" videos. She actually made one for the "Happy Birthday" song! ruclips.net/video/ToO7OXDiV04/видео.html
Fantastic, maybe even better than the Barbie Girl one! The Rachmaninoff sounded so convincing, partly because even the melody sounds like him. But I don't know if anything could top the Bartok, wow!!
Epic. M’encanta la edició del video, el teu humor, que vagis explicant la teoria/harmonia (acords, progressions, etc) que hi ha al darrere… i ja ni parlar-ne de la teva habilitat al piano!! Felicitats!
I love watching these so much! Especially all your notes, it’s fascinating hearing the composers styles against each other in a piece of music I am familiar with. Thank you for taking the time to make them!
that is a really great video. i feel like everyone is saying the rach worked best because it was the easiest to potentially use more of the original song chords, which you did tbf. nice work
Some of the most truly exquisite piano playing this world's ever heard - and some of the most adorably creative improvisational talent!! Numerous pianists who would be specialists in musical paraphrasing could learn whole volumes of talent from this excellent young virtuoso!
Beautifully played! And funny descriptions through the playing are nice. Thanks!!! It should be a whole damn Christmas lp/cd. Please publish full versions with all of them on a physical release, disc, cd/lp...
For me your best video so far. I love how much effort you put in your composition and your video production. Your little comments are always super funny and informative. I especially loved the Bela Bartok version at the end. Keep up the good work. I'm excited to see more of your videos.
Again, sir, congratulations! The arrangements are sublime, the editing of the video is funny as hell, super educational and complete! And the interpretation is masterful. Thank you for such great content!

you're too good
i was just going to ask for Bach, Schubert, and (Tallis or Vittoria)
This man’s description says “I also play the piano a bit”.
Wilddd
Me that’s played piano 4 my whole entire life:👁️👄👁️
And if he plays the piano so well that imagine what he is like on the cello😭
He is right, isn’t he? Or would you say he doesn’t play the piano one bit?
Average perfectionist pianist (all of us/them)
Oh snap it’s the guy with unreasonably good editing
Reminds me of the videos of Octopus Contrapunctus
Love this! Not only is the talented playing fantastic, but the written commentary is SO clever, educational, and hilariously funny. You are a genius.
Like in the Barbie song. That was also great and funny.
I can't imagine how much time it took to be able to create this video (composing and memorizing all for playing and recording and then adding the funny comments...). That is a BIG gift!
Agreed!
Epic! All amazing but the Bartok - oh my! Love it! I remain flabbergasted to know that piano is not your primary instrument.
Same!
They were all absolutely incredible. I wish I had the ability to write this well.
Agree! I mean they were all amazing, but the Rach and the Bartok had me laughing
@@diegomaranan3571Same, I can totally feel the “MAKE MY WISH COME TRUUUEEE 😭” 😂

So this was how it was, working retail in the 1800s, huh?
Ye olde Dickensian purveyors of trinkets’ playlist is not at all unpleasant. 😉
Hall of fame comment!

Starting in August.
Gold
LOL @ "more notes than fingers" for Rachmaninoff. This is devilishly clever as usual!
😅
Dazzling! Sure, the arrangements and the playing are amazing but the onscreen text and graphics really sends the whole thing over the top!
That’s true 👍🏽
It’s a full package
The Rach is perfect
Yes I agree. It was sublime. I could just listen to that all day.
"diabetes incoming" hahahahah.... Happy that he put Bartok last, as a player cleanser
I absolutely love this channel because it's actually "in the style". So many creators just do mashups with most basic classical themes
You don't post a lot of videos, but omg, when you post one, it is something!! Your work is amazing. I love these "in the style of". Thank you!!!
I love your flash card notes almost as much as your incredible playing, style and skill.
This is so funny, skilful, beautiful and witty it’s upsetting
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE make an extended version of the Rachmaninoff-style parody !! 🙏🙏🙏
Couldn’t agree more! That one gave me goosebumps it was so good!
Same
I need this one aswell!!!!!!
I just love that "adorable looping" and the "innocent myxolydian swaying" makes me very warm overall 😇
The Rachmaninoff is my favorite but also the Tchaikovsky. The text overlay definitely had me laughing 😂. Great pieces, well done! 👏🏻
The Bartok one made me laugh out loud. Brilliant - bravo.
Me too! I laughed the whole way through it!
I loved the Bartok! I think it actually quite excellently captured his style.
I am not a musician but I love and listen to all these composers. The cheeky commentary is brilliant and breaks open the musical content to help me understand
Yes it does
Not everyone can really pull this off convincingly as good as Nahre Sol. You absolutely did. Captured the composers so perfectly and really came up with inventive variations on the melody and harmony!!!
It’s not at all a competition but I actually think that Josep’s animation and composition skills are significantly more sophisticated!
@ I agree that the animation and humor is uniquely entertaining compared to a lot of the other videos in this format!! I actually noticed and thought to myself “wow… somebody spent hours animating all these little graphics….” while I was watching.

That Brahms was beautiful, the half diminished 7th ascension 👌
OMG this is absolutely BRILLIANT
This is actually so underrated! quality editing ,quality music ,quality video!!!!
!!!!!PHENOMENAL!!!!! Your TALENT is completely off the scales!!!! THANK YOU for sharing your INCREDIBLE GIFT!!!❤️❤️❤️
Always saving the best til last! The Ravel in the Barbie was the best, and the Bartok here, so good!
Yeah he always puts the really fun wild card at the end

how is the editing for this, this good? not to mention the terrific piano playing oh my god
Bartok really did it for me. Well done! Now I want even more of this 😊
Loved it! The Commentary really adds.
beautifully done. Pleasure to listen to and read the animated text. killed it
Thank you so much! ❤
The Rach one is magical
Agree!!!
WOW!!!! Great 👍🏽
Absolut großartig.
Der Rachmaninow hat mir am besten gefallen. Da war die Melodie am einfachsten rauszuhören.
Stimmttt!! Und die Begleitungen waren einfach perfekt nh? 👌

Oh my gosh! Thank you for all this work. In addition to enjoying the variations, I learned something about each composer.
Wowwww, this was so well conceived and performed! Clever and on point!
The Brahms and Bartok were my favorites as most closely approaching the original styles of those guys. Wish there had been Chopin and Philip Glass versions.
Thumb up for Chopin, down for Glass, down for Glass, down for Glass, down for Glass, down for Glass (ad lib until the copier runs out of toner)
@geckofeet I had imagined the Glass going last. So he could gradually fade out the picture and sound. Like the end of Neptune in Holst's Planets.
First time watcher, immediate sub.
The creativity! The skill! The editing!
Extraordinary! Loved every minute! Thank you for this wonderful, inspiring medley. 🙏 I also laughed so hard with the on screen comments! Brilliant!
This is so perfect I can’t even explain
The rach was absolutely perfect ❤
Extremely talented!!! 🌟 Thank you and love your Barbie girl 🎶🎶❤️❤️👏👏👏👏👏

A clear reference do Symphony No.2 Adagio from Rachmaninoff: 4:29

This video is absolutely insane! Really amazing work, man!
Woukd like to hear Chopin's version...
and Schumann too.
Absolutely amazing stuff! Solid variations each in their own right, the Bartok is fabulous.
Love the Tchaikowsky-Style! And all the lovely visual effects!!🤩
BRILLIANT as always... the hammers in the Beethoven variation completely cracked me up!!! 😁 Thank you for your talent, humor, and obvious charm!

Wow! That’s brilliant. Also insightful that old Sergei would not be able to resist the melody. 😅
5:18 That left hand reminds me of the middle part of Chopin's Ballade No. 1
This is genius, congratulations!!!
You did it again! A masterpiece, and very funny at the same time ❤
What great and beautiful versions you game my ears to hear! Thank you!

Amazing! Would you consider putting this on Spotify? I need these styles 24/7! Thank you so much!
This should be put on Spotify, RUclips music and all other streaming platforms
I haven't listened to much Rach so I wasn't sure what to expect, but it was absolutely beautiful. Your composition skills are astounding!

This is oh so clever and musical. Loved listening and appreciated the stylistic charm for each and the humour in the text. 'hold my sonata" [teehee]
A well-designed, painfully-constructed and well-arranged video. this is art in itself. Love particularly the Rachmaninoff part
