- In this video Les and his trusty Human venture out to the bush to check out the heavily vandalised abandoned remains of a Victorian Railways Walker railmotor. The main drivers cabin was pretty much reduced to a shell but the rest of the abandoned train still had a lot of the original fixtures in it. Entering service in 1949 the historic train was definitely a blast from the past. It was fitted with a toilet that just went strait onto the tracks and ash trays! Very vintage. It was a very cool railway egg-spore. ENJOY!

EGG-JOY!
The story with the heritage railway that was supposed to be there (I’m pretty sure, at least this is what I’ve heard) is they had a running walker and were ready to start, but someone got a bit too excited and drove it before it was all approved, they were then forced to abandon it and the tracks were ripped up. There used to be more walkers there but they’ve been taken by various groups, and I’m pretty sure the motor from the one in this video (or parts of it) are now in 22RM at the Yarra valley railway, either that or 32RM at Daylesford.
Magnificent.
They were actually offering rides to the public. There's an old railpage thread somewhere on the matter.
They were running 82RM on one engine with passengers illegally after the tracks were ripped up they still started 82RMs functional engine from time to time until they gave up
The brief story behind the tourist railway (that I've been told by Les not to name) is that they had actually started offering rides to the public before gaining the proper accreditation. Although this was the late 70s when many of todays safety regulations didn't exist, the government was not happy about running without accreditation, so they ripped up the tracks and dashed any hopes of running trains in the future. There was other rolling-stock that was left here, but over the last few years it has been transferred to other working tourist railways such as Healesville and Daylesford. This walker railmotor is likely also going to Daylesford or Healesville some day.
Magnificent
1:44 that was primarily the engine room, but it could also store parcels and other luggage.
Egg-c-lent.

@@FloydBromley Dairy.
The cost of moving it to either railways that run Walkers is far to expensive better to dismantle it where it stands
I have been told that was trucked to the Yarra Valley tourist railway for future restoration or parts.
What happened to it we went over today and it was gone I can't find any information about it took a while to get there too
It has been moved to
Tarrawarra on the Healesville tourist railway for preservation.
It would be great if one could go back in time and preserve this railmotor in working order, and even allow the tourist railway to become a thing. Oh well, at least you’ve captured it before it eventually becomes in a far worse condition.
Yeah it's a shame.
It’s kinda sad it’s been sitting there for so long, it would be nice if something could be organised to move it somewhere else other than there. But I kinda doubt that will ever happen.. Also what was the number of this unit?
Yeah and I'm not sure.
This train needs to be saved
It has!

Definitely.
Is it possible to get a car onto the track next to the train?
Not sure.
Can you please provide the co-ordinates as I would like to see this through Google Maps or Earth.
It was formerly located at Huon Railway station in Victoria Australia.
I was looking at Lake Eildon @@FogartyAvenue...
