I am very honored to have been selected by The Patient Story to tell my story of Bladder Cancer. Thank you all for watching and commenting. I'm very much appreciative of all the well wishes and support.
My late husband had stage 4 bladder cancer… he survived for 6 years after chemo, then was diagnosed with Pancreatic cancer which took his life after 3 weeks of finding out he had it. Hang in there…you can do it!. Best wishes for you and and I hope you have a long and happy life.
That other doctor was a quack. I’m glad you found a good doctor who offered Chemo….Cancer gets little cells that can travel throughout your body…. OMG. I feel for you.
You are heard and you are loved❣️My heart and prayers go out to you🥰🙏🏼Thanks so much for sharing your journey with us! You are a hero and will definitely help others to face their struggles❣️God bless you 💯🙏🏼🦋
It's time for me to be checked. I'm 58, and noticed it took me a good while to urinate, and I seemed to not be able to put any power behind it. My 70+ year old aunt, told me welcome to old age, like this issue, is a common thing for older women. Well, this morning, I woke up busting to pee, and because our master bath is under construction, I have to run to my son's bathroom. But, this morning, it leaked out on me in my bed, I jumped outta bed and went running for the bathroom, and literal had some urine come down my legs on my way. This told me, something is wrong, and I need to be check out. Thanks for sharing your story! I'm going go see my Dr because of it.
My husband has papillary urothelial carcinoma, high-grade, invasive of lamina propria. He had the tumor removed in January 2022 and he’s gone for monthly chemo treatments ever since. We are down now to scopes every four months, but he likewise was told this will be a lifelong battle. Best wishes to you!
I’m glad to come across your story. Thank you for sharing it. My dad had a tumor in his bladder. His bladder cancer came back and he was unaware until it was too late. It metastasized. He passed away 9 years ago. I wish we had known more about bladder cancer possibly coming back so easily like yours did. I wish you the best of luck and prayers for you. ❤🙏
Early detection but if your doctor won't listen to you in the first place or fobs you off time and again that can be quite difficult. Believe me I know it happened to me. So glad this lady is being looked after. She's a great person.
Michelle beautiful, thank you. I felt every word. We are warriors of the same tribe. We chose quality over quantity. We sought urology oncology specialists we trusted in battle. Today marks 1yr since my last BC surgery. Yesterday my CT report still reads as NED. Yet I know to stay prepared for life. Eat Clean. Reach out.
I worked in urology for years and have assisted and performed in all of these procedures. I wish you were treated better in the beginning. I’m glad you’re doing well and on top of it!!

It doesn't sound like they explained all the options available if your bladder was removed. Besides having a urostomy (ileal conduit), there is the Indiana pouch, the neobladder, and the Mitrofanoff. Please ask about those because you DO have choices. You might prefer a neobladder - you urinate normally, no bag, no need to catheterize (as with an Indiana pouch). Or - many choose to have combination chemotherapy/radiation which has similar outcomes to bladder removal. Wearing a urostomy bag works for people of any size. You have to remember that the uro-oncologist has never had a urostomy, so their opinion is pretty worthless. Your best advocate in this scenario would be a stoma/continence nurse.
@@doriasalmon4790 I'm a bladder cancer patient, cancer-free for 8 years now. I'm also a nurse. I've made it my business to know all there is to know about bladder cancer.
I had bladder cancer in 2009. My urine looked like very very light, faded watermelon juice. If I wasn't using white toilet paper, I would not have even noticed. I called my doctor the next day & told him that I had bladder cancer. I knew. My dad taught me the 7 signs of cancer when I was about 12 years old. That was not the 1st time that I have correctly diagnosed myself! I hope you stay healthy!

Thank you, thank you so much for this story. My urologist says CT came back all ok. So why doesn’t it feel ok?!
Please, look up Dr. Jason Fung. He's a nephrologist. Getting metabolically healthy is very important for winning the battle.
I so hope you get an Indiana pouch
❤

You can put pee all the time in the intestinal skin. Over time the pee will tear a hole because pee has acid.
Thank you for explaining this, wish so much you were available to help advocate since you know so well
Thank you again for this

How are you doing??
So far still here, thank you for asking.
Michelle did anyone tell you to stop eating any sugar or carbs?? sugar feeds cancer. I will pray for you to be cancer free.
Did you comment this because of my size? Would you really have said this to someone who was much thinner? Do you assume I eat sugar and carbs?
