Barnsy singing James Taylor. What is this crazy world coming to? Well, he nails it. So does Marcia. Legends singing a truly legendary song from legend James Taylor. Damn!
Marcia had a big hit with this song early in her career, her first hit I think, that hum she does at the start of the song sent shivers down my spine remembering those days. Two superstars!!
Yes, the first song Marcia recorded and 1st hit as well. That’s the theme of this First Gig series Jimmy appears to be holding in his lounge room. In a doco on ABC Marcia said this song was a big hit at the time that she left the US and was playing on the radio in the cab on the way to the airport and she vowed that if she ever got to record a song, this would be her first pick.
Marcia's sounding good and looking real hot and the look on her face when Jimmy starts singing is priceless. They both nailed it and they know it. Like Marcia says at the end "Now that's what I'm talkin' bout!!!!"
I come back to this one whenever i need a heart warmer just brilliant !!! Love you marcia you just shine in this clip !!!😍😍😍 The guitarist needs equal accolades beautiful work !!!
Thank you. Yes he does deserve recognition. He is one of Australia’s best guitarists. He was the UK’s top session and recording guitarist for 20 years, and is an incredible composer. Mark Johns 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Until i seen this on my first gig i had never really paid much attention to Marcia Hines voice. How good was this the blending of their voices is just fantastic. Great work guys
From the show "My First Gig" on Max (Australia), 2009. Marcia born 20th July, 1953, would have been 56 and Jimmy 28th April, 1956, would have been 3 years younger (53). She is now 70 and Jimmy is 67, as at September, 2033.
This is one of three of my all time favourite songs ever. This is one of the first songs I remember my father singing. When I hear it, it always brings a tear to my eye, just remembering him sing it. I love this song so much!! This version just makes it all so much better. Thank you for this. :)
One of Marcia's earliest Australian hits. Loved it then - but this version is amazing. AND Wow - that smile on Marcia's face at the end. The warmest smile l have ever seen from her.
Thanks for the vid, it left me mesmorised. I once spoke to Maria on a Sydney radio station, I look forward to meeting her one day to thank her for the music I have enjoyed listening to all these years and Jimmy, well what can I say he's a classic in his own right, even a heart problem won't keep this good man down. God bless them both. Not many people on earth can say they lived through a time of fantastic music and good times. There's so much to live for, this is just one of them :)
@jdburnnotice The Narara festivals were held in 1983 & a984, this one seems too early if it was '76. Not sure what festivals they had up that way in the 70's ...
Look in the sky Alpha omega that is the truth let love into your heart the miracle of love and goodwill is in the air god bless you both good to see you what beautiful souls love kerri anderson***ooo***
marcia too overwhelming like to hear jimmy since like this.. didnt realise this when i was younger.. now i actually have an ear , but still good marcia settled down after a few bars
i love jimmy to bits and I disagree about the screaming.....Marcia hasn't changed since I used to make her tuna and cheese sandwiches when she was pregnant with Demi haha in Perth ...I am a full time muso now.....I dig both these guys more than you would know xxx
Interesting reading comments below, you are a Barnes fan or a NO.NO! Jimmy has sang with them all and he was only a screamer,he did it all with Hutchence,Farnham,Urban the list goes on but he never went back, once he had one go with Turner and aforementioned he just went back to his screaming, should have done more with Garrett neither of them could get it right!
When a white man put more soul in to a song than a black woman... WOW.. great song all the way around ... BUT Jimmy took the vocals to a great destination!
Wow! Two aussie icons singing my favourite song...beautiful!
This is why I feel so damn lucky to have grown up with these incredible talented musicians, I mean how good is this??? PURE MAGIC!
Marcia just keeps getting better looking and hasn’t lost anything. I loved it.
She could put out an album just humming. It's beautiful.
Saw Marcia live at NSW Uni decades ago..WOW. She asked for requests..I yelled out Fire n Rain n she sang it..time stood still she was soo awesome 🥰
Absolutely beautiful. Marcia's face at times when Barnsey is singing is just wonderful.
Jimmy's voice when he keeps it mellow and gentle surprises everyone that listens to it for the first time.
Barnsy singing James Taylor. What is this crazy world coming to? Well, he nails it. So does Marcia. Legends singing a truly legendary song from legend James Taylor. Damn!

How are things there in 2033? Is covid gone yet?
@@godfreypigottYea it's gone, you don't want to know what replaced it. At least they aged us back a decade
I'm sure James Taylor would approve of this great rendition of his song.
Dynamic duo, nailing the lyric, sentiment & emotion ....very blessed in Oz with many world class musos through 60s, 70s & 80s 🙏🌏💛🎶🌠
