It depends, for some if does nothing because they lack the specific sulfotranferase gene and therefore can't convert minoxidil into minoxidilsulfate. Luckily there are ways to improve results like microneedling or using 0.01% tretinoin. Oral minoxidil would be a last resort option (because of sides) that should work for everyone.

You can take a lower dose if you are scared of sides or even take a low topical dose for less sides potential, while still improving your hair. If your balding is still early, a low dose topical fin might be enough. Minoxidil isn't even needed if you don't want to regrow hair and just want to thicken your remaining hair and prevent it from falling out.
Why don't you use minoxidil Matt ? Ps : what do you think about " scar tissues " due to microneedling over time ? I heard that microneedling could be beneficial at the beginning but could make your hairloss worse over time (after years of using microneedling because of the accumulation of scar tissues in the scalp which prevent the hair from growing well). Well I'm saying that cause of HairCafe's videos. But what do you think about that? I'm kinda afraid to start microneedling for that reason to be honest.
Ive never dont it befoire as my stuff is coming this week but I wouldnt plan on micro needling forever. Some videos say once a week and then once a month and then 3 months?
Matt, I think it's highly unlikely that respondents in the 7month minix study were highly responsive to minox because they are supposed to randomly choose participants
Hey Matt as I'm constantly watching video's on a reputable cosmetic clinic doing micro needling going over the hair quick then using 5 percent Minoxidil "serum" it looks like. I'm assuming the Minox serum would be alcohol free? as they apply it immediately after derma rolling then put the patient under or Red laser light. I would have thought putting Minox immediately after derma rolling would cause irritation or burning no? I've started using Rosemary essential oil into Nizoral shampoo few times a week with once a week dermastamp at 0.5 - 1 mm and LED light therapy - every other day any thoughts on this?. Lastly do you think I should start topical Minox given what I'm doing currently ? And use a micro needling pen over Derm stamp? TIA
Nice protocol man. I use rosemary oil mixed in my minoxidil, as well as peppermint and lavender oils, which I would recommend. I don't get any irritation from applying minoxidil after microneedling. Also using a ketoconazole shampoo. Used a laser helmet a few years back but it was the only treatment I was doing at the time and didn't seem to do anything in isolation.
@@alanrastelli Thankyou mate!! Sounds great. I've also got Pumpkin seed oil and Peppermint to introduce, yeah I've seen the laser helmets. I'm using LED light which is slightly different but is still reported to be effective over a 9 month period. As I already have a device with the recommended wavelengths plus pulse mode I figured why not try it on my hair. I also like it for post MN my scalp as it has great wound healing. I'm definitely interested in starting Minox though. It's exciting to hear and see from the HairCafes RUclips page him say there are new hairloss options coming soon. Not sure if you watch him but he's basically the DON of hairloss channels haha.
I am over 50, Norwood 2. I got on Hims 0.3% finasteride/ 6% minoxidil. By day 4 I sprouted at least 20 hairs on my temples. I noticed this when I looked in my rear view mirror. I am about w weeks in and have to say I am incredibly impressed….the hair is fine, but filled in most of temples. This stuff works well if you have decent hair left and I guess then right response to it. I almost can’t believe the results. My hair line came down at least a 1/2” very quickly. Not sure if this is normal, will it continue, will it reverse? Not sure. What I do know is I look much better in 2 weeks!
I’m a Norwood 3.5-4 and I did the same thing. I been micro needling for a month beforehand 1x a week but I’m on day 4 and sprouted about 20 new hairs as well. Mine isn’t Hims tho, but like dude above, a popular company. Maybe the hairs were already there? But idk. Who knows.
I wonder about oral minox im on 1.25mg i added 5 days ago i think 1-2 mg is same as 5% want to up at 3 months mark to 2.5mg or 5mg max but my doctor won't give 5mg even though i actually do have high blood pressure and my dad and brother too, this is hopefully 19% or upto 40% great combined with my Dutasteride EOD of course they won't stack like 40%+15% but maybe together combined after 1 year+ can be 50%+, Im NW2-3V transition but diffuse through the crown couple of shitty areas but for now I'm mostly worried about temples.
Good question. It may not be as worth it for some people. Especially the ones who are already happy with how Finasteride is able to keep their hair. Additional stimulation with Minoxidil can be additional boost for hair thickness but may not be worth the daily topical applications.
@@letsgethair I already use fin 1mg daily and Lllt every other day religiously. I'm 38, Nw3 and just did 1647grafts to the front. Do you think the 1000 grafts should be saved for crown or spread out over mid scalp too?

It's because Minoxidil also goes systemic but by most individuals it doesn't cause any blood pressure lowering and thus potential dizziness. I know that rarely it can cause these issues by some guys
Maybe the 2% Woman version can help you. Besides it is enough to apply minoxidil once per day. The half life time is 18-21h. Maybe its the frequenz of your treatment (5% twice per day)

Minoxidil is a very underrated product for Hairloss. Yes it's painful process putting it on everyday, but it works.
