1:39 when he looks to his wife for confirmation that he son is a safe is so telling. And her reminding him to comment on their son handwriting was such a parenting moment for them both.
It's funny I've watched this scene dozens of time but I never really noticed this...lol I think he's finally seeing her. He spent so much time comparing her to his scheming late wife/concubines but now I think he starting to understand her heart. Her sincerity in taking care of Zhun made all the difference.
Shiyi to the rescue...lol I'm so glad that Lingyi isn't blinded by legitimate/illegitimate birth status. He sees the value of a person rather than their status unlike the old battle axe. The fact that he sees right through Lianfang's act is refreshing. The old battle axe is a hypocrite of the highest order. She put Lianfang in charge of Zhun's care when he first got sick. She has ABSOLUTELY no experience raising a child. However, when Lingyi wants Shiyi to be responsible for Zhun she has an issue with her lack of experience. She really needs to step down as the matriarch because she's incapable of making wise decisions.
This scene makes me so really despise the GM so much...like it was friggin' option for Lianfang to still look after Zhun after _she_ harmed him and tried delay his treatment just make herself look good. I really wished they didn't the GM off so easy.
@@arilu89x yup...for someone that seems to love her legitimate grandson so much she so willing to trust the one person that did him harm....even after Shiyi revealed the truth about Lianfang's scheme she still continued to protect her. You're right they let her off too easy....once they had the proof that Lianfang deliberately allowed Zhun to be harmed they should've insisted that the GM resign from being the matriarch of the Xu family....and stripped her of all the decision making power she had because it's obvious she doesn't know how to put the needs of the family above her own biases. If Shiyi hadn't stepped in when she did Zhun might've died because Lianfang was more concerned about looking good to Lingyi than she was about his safety. It's not surprising that the GM excused her behavior because she actively tried to manipulate Lingyi into accepting Lianfang as well....scheming against her own son so that he could fall for the enemy but her schemes always failed.
She's stuck on stupid for real. She has never given Shiyi a chance from the start. She doesn't want to be disloyal to Lianfang so of course she will continue to treat Shiyi like crap. She's so blinded by her own prejudices so in her eyes Shiyi doesn't measure up to Lianfang. She's a horrible judge of character.
@@tulsi3549 this is the moment when he really started to wholeheartedly accept her. Lianfang worked hard to turn Zhun against Shiyi...fill his head with a bunch of nonsense before they even met. Shiyi dispelled all of that when she met him...and made him feel at ease....but when he got sick Shiyi's sincerity and care came shining through...especially when she sang to him... it was the song that his late mother used to sing to him. So when he told her that her hair looks messy...that was a sign that he finally accepted her as his new mother. I love seeing them together.
@@shontelagrone8713 yeah so true..they look great..it looks like the sight of her as his aunt and now as his mother calmed him down..she understood him and that's what attracted him to her just like his father💙😂..it is sad that even children are being used for the petty gains and objectives of adults..Yu always looks sad and alone..at Zhun..he is his only brother and they should be like best of buddies and here they r all alone caught up in adult games...

Yes, she did...lol Lianfang need to stop trying to scheme because it's obvious she's not good at it. All that wasted effort only to lose yet again.
She won a game she really wasn't interested in winning. That's what's great about her
