I've had two of these sitting in the boxes in my garage for a year. If I would have realized that they were that easy to assemble, I would have put them together a LONG time ago! Lol. I never put them together because I assumed that I would need a second person to help me. Maybe I'll tackle that project this evening after seeing this video.
We own the same chicken Run (coop or whatever you want to call it.) The design has changed quite a bit, especially the door area. They cheapened it dramatically. Set the entire thing up yesterday, but doing the wire now. They don’t give you wire that’s tall enough. The bottom length, is 45” tall. The wire, is only 41” tall. So I’m guessing you need to stretch the wire in the process. Anyways, assembling this thing now. Will update when I get it finished. Heck, might start my own video shortly lol.
There are so many of these same runs on the market. Some companies include the proper wire and some don't. I purchased another one from a different company after this video and it was junk.

I bought the 10 x 20 foot version. Al rest is same.... the wiring a real bear and should be mentioned that the time consuming portion is tough. Thanks for the idea of mounting the nesting box and perch. I was planning on a coop in a coop version
Having just purchased one of these, I would caution users that a lot of them now are only 1 inch diameter pipes. I researched a whole bunch of them on Amazon and purchased one that specifically said the pipe diameter was 1.25 inches. When it arrived, it was only 1 inch pipe. This makes a HUGE difference in the strength of the frame. I was not happy. And a lot of these are not sold/shipped by Amazon, so getting refunds are not easy. I also see a lot that look like the same thing just different branding. After as short time from when I purchased mine (that was sold and shipped by Amazon which is why I choose it and that it was supposed to be 1.25 inch) it went Unavailable, so now any negative reviews (like mine) for the incorrect pipe diameter are just lost. And this same product will pop up under a different brand and continue the cycle of deception.
Grear video.I just ordered one similar but 10x10 we only have 6 chickens for now and we can expand on it. Our plan is to double wrap the bottom 4' with wire we already have and line the outside with center blocks.
Found this and so glad I did! I followed your directions and had "frame" up in a hour by myself! will be adding 2 x 4s and adding roof panels to winterize for NE weather -Thank You for sharing!
I love the wood reinforcement! I would have to use 1/2 inch hardwire cloth for sure. I am curious to know what kind of roofing panels would work for this metal coop? I've been thinking about a metal coop but the roofing was a concern. I am in CO so I need a sturdy roof for my run just like you in NE!

If a dog or coyote really wanted to get in. I don't think the mess is strong enough to keep them out, especially a big dog. I'm going to put chicken wire over the mesh on the sides to keep that from happening.
Love this coop was thinking of doing the same since all the regular coops are triple the piece or more for about 5 chickens! Also what about the rain? Chickens okay getting wet?
I actually got one of these for my dogs. I have to reinforce the bottom with chain link but im excited because they cant use the doggy door because the fence we haves only 4ft tall and out 1 dog can jump that like hes stepping over a stick. And there are times i need to be gone for the night for work so knowing they can go potty when they please makes me feel alot better. And these are cheaper then a dog kennel this size. Probably 2/3 bigger

This is not actually a coop but a run. I'm wondering how difficult it would be to secure 2 × 4 in welded wire around the base. Seems like anything that wants to get in during the day could with wimpy chicken wire the kit provides. A separate coop is necessary for night time security. At least here in New England and for my level of risk/loss aversion. Ah, just got to the end of the video to the electric fence part of the security. May make a world of difference.
Did you do a video on making it safer? I noticed you had a solar/electric fence type thing you were going to use? Any info on that would be great! Just bought the coop/run.

It has held up fine. The wire they give you to secure the fencing to the poles is a little thin and rusts. You may want to get some additional stainless steel wire.

Predators will not get my birds for they will be in a secure , solid coop at night. During the day, they will be in the run and predators do not roam in the day. And we have a dog.
I have 2. Bought both off of a returns/auction site, $80 and $120. They are easy and convenient, quick … but, the doors leave a lot to be desired and after moving 1x a week for about 3 months some welds are starting to crack. Definitely would be unhappy if i paid full price but for what i paid they have done well enough. Currently building wood framed bases for the 2. 24” tall putting these in permanent locations. It will make it a little more safe, will make the sidewalls almost 6’ plus make it harder for chicks to get out when you open the door.
Is the chicken wire mesh 1” or 2 “? I’m wondering if I get the longest one if I can build a second door in the middle - I’m guessing I can figure something out - mainly so my cheap self doesn’t have to buy two to separate chickens. They mainly free range but I would like to be able to separate a pen for chicks coming out of the brooder, breeding pairs or to all some of my broody hens to have a sage space to raise their own chicks. I’m thinking about the dome one because if I love it maybe I could have a second one to keep chickens out of my plants, put a shade cloth on top. So it looks to me that when you attach the door with the swivel attachments there's a lot of room. Have you actually put chickens in there and do they stick their heads out of that Gap? I have three very curious cats who might patiently wait for a chicken head to pop out. So what I did is I took the swivel and pushed it in. Just enough to allow the door to open halfway inwards. That way I can shoo my chickens and enter. I would have liked a fast forward show of you putting on the chicken wire... My thoughts are I'm going to have to hold off my potty mouth a few times when I'm doing that. The cutting the door and side panels. I really enjoyed your video. It really helped a lot. Somehow I lost the instructions before the door assembly. Thank you!
You’re welcome. The gap on the hinge side is covered by the wire. It runs continuously on that side. On the latch side, I overlapped it slightly so that it covers (mostly) the gap there. I also have an electric fence around my whole coop. My cats used to be curious until they touched it.
You're lucky with all functional pieces, I'm jealous. My kit had one button connection that was a full inch off from the hole it was supposed to go in (or the other way around, one of them was wrong). I had to duck tape that joint. And our door hinges were bent almost closed and we had to open them up to get them over the bars. Its also really difficult to assemble and use if you dont have flat and level ground. We made a couple adjustments. We wrapped from the bar down all the way around with hardware cloth over the chicken wire (in hindsight, I wouldn't have bothered with the chicken wire at all), as well as both tall end walls to protect from predators (high pressure area), burying the hardware cloth a foot all the way around, and we switched out the thin tarp they sent with a standard tarp to cover the whole run since we live in a rainy area. It keeps the girls in and predators out, but we had a problem with small birds coming in (eating the chicken feed, stressing out the chickens, and leaving behind a problem with depluming mites). Its serving its purpose for now, with a lot of extra money spent to make it work. We needed something that would go up pretty fast and easy in a pinch to get us through until we can do better, but I'd have to really be in a serious pinch to buy it again. Just hoping for lumber prices to drop. Looks like your situation is different than mine, I hope this works out well for you. Its a heck of a deal if it does.
Anyone know where I can find the D connectors? Wind storm flipped over coop and damaged them. Or what you call them in a hardware store, so I can find them?
We have an electric fence surrounding the coop for predators. We don’t have high winds here. I did pond in a tpost and tied the coop to that tpost with wire.
How tall would you say it is from the bottom/ground to the top where it starts the roof part. I mean im 5ft tall so id be fine walking in but my husband is 6'3".
I am having problems with the door. It does not hang correctly. I could not put this run on completely level ground so everything is a little cockeyed.
While this would work for some dogs, for large dogs I would recommend upgrading the chicken wire to heavier chain link since the chicken wire is so thin. Another thing to keep in mind is that most dogs would have no problem digging out of that run. Maybe just don't rely on something like this to keep your dog secure unless you really trust your dog! Hope this is helpful.
That’s a good point, but there are also plenty of other options to add to this to keep dogs from escaping. I for one think this a great option for people with little dogs to protect them from raptors like hawks, eagles, and owls.
@@livvydraws-v7n that would be a great idea for tiny dogs. And if you line the inside edges with hardware cloth, it would make it harder for the dogs to dig out. I would still upgrade the chicken wire to a heavier gauge at the very least because most dogs would easily chew through the wire that is provided.

I have being reviewing lots of videos for a chicken coop-run but they are just complicated for me because I have not the skills, the tools and the patience to build it. But I got plenty of recycled tubes for another project that can work for the chicken coop-run and I already have the wire, just need to find the connectors. I will need to have some wood walls (corner) to give the chickens climate protection and a covered roof as well. Suscribed!
Thank you for this video! Very helpful! Wondering how folks are securing the cages to the ground? Having a lot of theft in my Hood, as well as intense wind storms from time to time, so I want to secure it down to mitigate theft and rolling over in storms...any thoughts on this?
I like this idea to enclose my raised beds to protect them from the moose. My worry was how sturdy this structure would be, but when you added that scrap wood to the sides, I THINK this would give it some additional strength. We wouldn't even necessarily need the netting; maybe just on the door. Moose would not be able to get between the pieces of wood and when they come upon an obstruction, they move on. I have to think about it a bit more, but I'm warming to the idea.
I just ordered this from your link as I have been interested in it for awhile now and we are first time owners of baby chicks and hoping this will make them a great run! We live in Montana so I sure hope it holds up through the winter time! We will be buying hardware cloth to skirt around the bottom of this run and extend the wire out from the run to deter predators! How would your illustrated coop work in Tennessee winter weather? We’ve had quite a bit of rain for the last few years. I’m not complaining as that better than drought, but there’s no getting around wind driven rain and saturated ground. My chickens 6 adult hens are currently housed in my 20 ft horse trailer. It’s a workin progress trying to make modifications without cutting or drilling into metal in the trailer.

I wish I could use one of these, rather than building my own, but none of them come in the dimensions I need (12'x12'). Is there a way to slightly alter the dimensions? I have been searching the internet for various parts, to try to buy separate, but no luck. I really need it to be 12 x 12, which is why I am contemplating to build from scratch like you showed in your other video with the brackets. Any suggestions?
just want i needed to know about tube straps . I would prefer to have a metal roof in the long term , also be able to go over it with hardwire cloth My neighbor has chickens and stuff but because of them we now have a rat snake issue and coon issue . So i stopped having chickens for a couple years because of my neighbor. .. So i just bought a new chicken palace a very very nice Amish made 8x10 building with double doors and windows. Going to do rain barrel water system , solar lights inside and outside , and a nice feed system. But the big thing is SNAKES making sure they can't slither in .

We have the same exact one and just put it up. We haven't finished it because we can't figure out how to do the front and back with the amount of wire left. It's too short to reach the peak in the center when stretching it horizontally and too narrow stretching it vertically. Hope you can offer suggestions. But yes, the instructions go clear off the rails when it gets to the wire...🤦🏻♀️
We bought this same run and we used it to house some ducks while we build a duck house and on night 2 we lost 9 ducks because a weasel broke all the zip ties along the bottom and was able to get in, so we lost half. Have not used it sense.
It is not made to be secure from predators. We used the supplied wire to secure the chicken mesh wire. We additionally have an electric fence around ours.
I have this one as well. I think I did the door wrong though, it scrapes the bottom when I open it. Also I just stuck my chicken coop inside of it rather than putting nesting boxes in it, but good idea.

Have you seen this product be DIY as a greenhouse? I love that it can be set up so fast.
I haven't seen it used as a greenhouse but you could certainly try to set it up that way.
The electric fence is a recipe for fried chicken daily.

Its serving its purpose for now, with a lot of extra money spent to make it work. We needed something that would go up pretty fast and easy in a pinch to get us through until we can do better, but I'd have to really be in a serious pinch to buy it again. Just hoping for lumber prices to drop.

So many questions! So what about predators and it being chicken wire? And heavy winds if you use to as a tractor you not pinning it to the ground?
We have an electric fence surrounding the coop for predators. We don’t have high winds here. I did pond in a tpost and tied the coop to that tpost with wire.
How tall would you say it is from the bottom/ground to the top where it starts the roof part. I mean im 5ft tall so id be fine walking in but my husband is 6'3".

The're are some copper colored screws that go on the clamps on the door frame, but no holes to put them in?

I am having problems with the door. It does not hang correctly. I could not put this run on completely level ground so everything is a little cockeyed.
If it is not sitting level then the door is not going to hang right.

Thats not a chicken coop, thats a chicken run. Chicken coops are made out of wood and offer shelter at night, and a place to lay eggs.

Thank you. They could but I have an electric fence around the coop. Keeps everything out.
While this would work for some dogs, for large dogs I would recommend upgrading the chicken wire to heavier chain link since the chicken wire is so thin. Another thing to keep in mind is that most dogs would have no problem digging out of that run. Maybe just don't rely on something like this to keep your dog secure unless you really trust your dog! Hope this is helpful.
That’s a good point, but there are also plenty of other options to add to this to keep dogs from escaping. I for one think this a great option for people with little dogs to protect them from raptors like hawks, eagles, and owls.
@@livvydraws-v7n that would be a great idea for tiny dogs. And if you line the inside edges with hardware cloth, it would make it harder for the dogs to dig out. I would still upgrade the chicken wire to a heavier gauge at the very least because most dogs would easily chew through the wire that is provided.

You can get a smaller size. This one has to be fully built out as is.

I have being reviewing lots of videos for a chicken coop-run but they are just complicated for me because I have not the skills, the tools and the patience to build it. But I got plenty of recycled tubes for another project that can work for the chicken coop-run and I already have the wire, just need to find the connectors. I will need to have some wood walls (corner) to give the chickens climate protection and a covered roof as well.

We have some moderate storms here. 30 to 40mph gusts. It has not moved.

I’m buying this for a garden so I can protect it from squirrels!
There are some gaps in it near the bottom.
I like this idea to enclose my raised beds to protect them from the moose. My worry was how sturdy this structure would be, but when you added that scrap wood to the sides, I THINK this would give it some additional strength. We wouldn't even necessarily need the netting; maybe just on the door. Moose would not be able to get between the pieces of wood and when they come upon an obstruction, they move on. I have to think about it a bit more, but I'm warming to the idea.

Maybe. There is some space at the bottom. You could just extend the wire so it overlaps the bottom by a few inches.

We live in Montana so I sure hope it holds up through the winter time! We will be buying hardware cloth to skirt around the bottom of this run and extend the wire out from the run to deter predators! Chickens are resilient. They don't need that much protection. Just a little wind break.
That thing looks kinda flimsy to me. How sturdy is it?
It actually is not. Very strong fencing grade tubing. It is actually fairly heavy.
Use gloves when you snap those pole together. I'd post a picture of the pinch blister, but RUclips would flag it for graphic content.
Mine came with no instructions and nothing is labeled either what a mess

How would your illustrated coop work in Tennessee winter weather? We’ve had quite a bit of rain for the last few years. I’m not complaining as that better than drought, but there’s no getting around wind driven rain and saturated ground. My chickens 6 adult hens are currently housed in my 20 ft horse trailer. It’s a workin progress trying to make modifications without cutting or drilling into metal in the trailer.
I live in Texas so it is different. I put some wind breaks on the West and North sides. My chicks were out there all winter with no issue.
Dont know if you get snow. If so how did they hold up in the winter

We got the 10x13. It is very big. Plenty of room for at least 20 birds or more.

I wish I could use one of these, rather than building my own, but none of them come in the dimensions I need (12'x12'). Is there a way to slightly alter the dimensions? I have been searching the internet for various parts, to try to buy separate, but no luck. Unfortunately, there is no way to modify one of these kits unless you find perfectly designed parts that will fit. That may be a challenge.

That would be lighter but it will also be susceptible to wind.
just want i needed to know about tube straps . I would prefer to have a metal roof in the long term , also be able to go over it with hardwire cloth My neighbor has chickens and stuff but because of them we now have a rat snake issue and coon issue . So i stopped having chickens for a couple years because of my neighbor. .. So i just bought a new chicken palace a very very nice Amish made 8x10 building with double doors and windows. Going to do rain barrel water system , solar lights inside and outside , and a nice feed system. But the big thing is SNAKES making sure they can't slither in .

We have the same exact one and just put it up. We haven't finished it because we can't figure out how to do the front and back with the amount of wire left. It's too short to reach the peak in the center when stretching it horizontally and too narrow stretching it vertically. Hope you can offer suggestions. But yes, the instructions go clear off the rails when it gets to the wire...🤦🏻♀️
That is strange. I actually had about 8ft of leftover wire netting.
We bought this same run and we used it to house some ducks while we build a duck house and on night 2 we lost 9 ducks because a weasel broke all the zip ties along the bottom and was able to get in, so we lost half. Have not used it sense.
It is not made to be secure from predators. We used the supplied wire to secure the chicken mesh wire. We additionally have an electric fence around ours.
There is really no way I’ve found of securing the gaps around the door. Squirrels keep getting in! Thoughts?

They should be the same.
Having assembled three of these, the zip ties will break down but the wire works great.

I have this one as well. I think I did the door wrong though, it scrapes the bottom when I open it. Also I just stuck my chicken coop inside of it rather than putting nesting boxes in it, but good idea.
Cool. Can you scoot the door hinges and the door header up a bit? That should help the issue.
