    I feel like the hardest part about rating the Demon Legendary Lords is that their specific mechanics are so closely tied into the overall Faction mechanics. Blood Hosts and Bloodletting are (currently) the generic Khorne Mechanic, but so much of what makes Skarbrand so good is how well he supports them between his additional movement after fighting a battle and his giving the Bloodhosts extra units. Same with Ku'gath and Kairos - they both allow you to utilize the overall faction mechanics better.

      The other effects are pretty good.
      Each army getting Plagues, giving you buffs and enemies debuffs are great
      Being able to Seduce units is handy in a pinch
      And being able to teleport into ambush battle with some WoM cost
      Are all pretty nice.
      But, the Khorne one.. Actually fucks you over more than it helps. Unless a Lord is constantly fighting, they're debuffing your entire faction

      I agree.
      Seduction you can only use on the cheapest of units, and you cant increase the amount of gold you can use for seduction unlike Nkari.( i almost never use it because of it)
      Only 4 plagues, the only one i use is the one that gives vanguard deployment, i havent played kugath but im sure he can use much better combos.
      Teleport stance not much different that Kairoses but he can eventually ambush enemy lords with it.
      Bloodletting, is good for factions that can travel large distances quickly, wich skarbrand can but the daemon prince cant, he is too slow in my opinion ( i never got it past the second tier)
      I get it that the daemon prince is suposed to be a jack-of-all- trades faction, but even the trades that he has arent that good.
      I mean jesus he already needs a rework in my opinion, and for the chaos gods sake his body parts need to be buffed a little bit better. Some late game parts feel like early game parts or not usefull at all. Its disgusting.
      The roster is fine, its chaos undivided after all, mix and mach the 4 chaos god units and you can cover their weakneses( giving an nurgle army khorne anti-large and slaneesh cavarly or giving a tzeench army some buff khorne frontline and nurgle artillery for that extra kick). but the faction mechanic and Lord need some help.

The demonic glory, equipment unlocks are also really poorly layed out. Some of the strongest stuff is middle of the progression.

      In terms of functionality, I would say the most useful stuff is really early on. Gorefeast helmet is like 3rd unlock from Khorne, Mortis engine wings are like 2nd from Nurgle, Small mortis on tail is also really early from Tzeench. There is some value from the late stages stuff, at least with Tzeench, since the equipment gives progressively more barrier, but thats about it.

Thing is just giving him acces to normal items and ancillaries would in my opinion put him back at A tier (or atleast make his late game upgrades quite better so if you stick to a devotion you actually feel close to it mono deamon LL couterpart or a good jack of all trade of all them instead of barely on par with their generic lords).

  • @Zayl1016
    @Zayl1016 2 года назад +93

    I think what would help DP a whole lot is buffing his equipment and then having an increase to that buff the farther into devotion he goes. Since his equipment is basically pulling double duty for DP's yellow and red tree skill line, it needs to be much more powerful. I would be fine if the complete devotion sets were borderline OP. Like maxed out Tzeentch devotion equipment boosting his spell mastery and making his spells much cheaper to cast or something. That alone would make him much more viable. They just have too much tied to his equipment for it to be as mediocre as it is.

    • @demon3203
      @demon3203 2 года назад +1

      Yeah i kind of like your idea. If they made his equipment just different stats and the stats scale off your devotion to whatever that equipment is as an example
      Khorne Armor gives :
      Armor X
      Melee defense X
      Where depending on your devotion to khorne is those values with scale higher and higher so that towards the end of the story the prince should honestly be one of the strongest lords hands down, which kind of make sense with the story a bit where he is already supposed to be strong but he continues to exponentially stronger the longer he has time to do his demon prince stuff. The demon prince by end of campaign SHOULD be one of if not the strongest lord, because there should be significant reward for devoting a lot of time and effort to one thing. Even if that one thing is undivided.

    • @UnreasonableOpinions
      @UnreasonableOpinions 2 года назад +3

      Daemon Prince is actually quite strong up until everyone hits level 10; he gets very strong parts early. By level 10 you can have the GUC super-Mortis effect they have to unlock, a second Mortis effect, regen in melee, 60 Bonus Versus Large and majority AP. The problem is that future parts are just not a meaningful upgrade - you never get better abilities, the spells are base spells, and the stat improvements at the end of the line are only a bit better at the start. Meanwhile, other Lords are gaining in power because every skill is a bonus and they're getting quite strong Rare equipment.
      The set bonuses are supposed to help, but they're just not that strong - especially considering they're often tied to fairly suboptimal parts.

    I would argue that Zhao Mings magic item drop chance should count as a global faction bonus. Yes it only applies to his army, but the extra equipment helps boost all heroes and lords in the faction. Don‘t know if this could be enough for S tier though

    • @Serpicokay
      @Serpicokay 2 года назад +7

      It is not technically global bonus that's why. If we follow your reasoning, Be'lakor should be count too has global bonus because he wins fights to your global income is better :D

    • @googleandsusansucks
      @googleandsusansucks 2 года назад +14

      @@Serpicokay That is a silly argument. The point is that increasing the drop rate for one lord is essentially increasing the drop rate of a faction, albeit to a lesser extent, since you can freely swap items. A more apt comparison would be if a Legendary lord had a trait that made his army receive higher post battle income. That would also be a sort of in-between since it requires the specific lord but the effect is added into a global pool accessible to the whole faction.
      There would be no argument if items could not be swapped from a global pool. So refuting his argument with such an stretch of definitions is silly.

    • @darkrite9000
      @darkrite9000 2 года назад +1

      @@googleandsusansucks Yeah the comparison made by them is a little silly, that said, so is the notion that item drop chance for the lord's army is a global bonus. A global bonus in it's very definition is global, it applies to all the factions armies, provinces, lords, characters, etc. Whatever is relevant to the bonus, so a public order bonus that only works for the local province, is not a global one, an increase in post battle loot for the army is not a global bonus, reducing upkeep for the army is not a global bonus, so item drop rate increase for the army is not a global bonus. I'd sooner have classed Miao Ying's skill that reduces construction cost for the great bastion buildings a global bonus, the only problem is that there's only 3 gates, so only 3 areas where you'd make use of that, hard to call it a global bonus, but it's more of a global bonus than increasing item drop chance for one army. If it was increase item drop chance for all armies, then it's a global bonus because then Zhao Ming doesn't need to be the one fighting for it to provide a benefit. Look at Skarbrand's skill that increases the size of blood hosts, it's for all armies, so Skarbrand doesn't need to be the one to raze a settlement for that skill to provide it's benefit (though Skarbrand will be razing most of the settlements in your campaign).

    • @luzhang2982
      @luzhang2982 2 года назад

      @@darkrite9000 No, @hektopascal 003 is correct, it directly benefits the rest of his armies by providing a global increase in power, especially as the player mainly plays with ZM’s army exclusively early on and non stop later on.
      The effective item collection rate is increased, you would have more total with him than not, and that is undeniable.
      The real arguement isnt whether it is a global benefit or not, but how important this is.
      With jade warrior rank ancilleries, and jade amulet providing unlimited magic at the moment and the current fusing system, that’s a very string benefit.
      It is undeniably a non trivial gain in items and boosting not only himself because of it.

    • @darkrite9000
      @darkrite9000 2 года назад +1

      @@luzhang2982 You seem to be missing the point, so I'm going to say it again. If the bonus isn't applied to all armies factionwide, it's not a global bonus. If all armies cannot benefit from it, and I mean benefit when/if Zhao Ming is doing nothing, then it's not a global bonus. If Zhao Ming is wounded, or is not involved in fighting for whatever reason, then he's not getting you items. Which means no global bonus, because a global bonus doesn't have the condition of using said character. Skarbrand has global bonuses, he buffs the amount of units blood hosts get, it doesn't matter if he's the one who makes them or not, his bonus is global.
      If we went with your logic then the upkeep cost reduction for missile infantry in Miao Ying's army would be a global bonus too. You have more money per turn because of it, must be a global bonus then. No it's not, it's an army bonus, as it only applies to that army, and won't matter if the character in question is wounded or otherwise un-involved in battle. And because of that, Zhao Ming's item drop chance buff is only an army bonus, not a global one. It does benefit the faction, but so does reducing upkeep on certain units when you use those units. Doesn't mean it's a global bonus, it has no effect when the character themselves isn't involved.

    One way I find the demon prince is pretty strong is if you give him double mortis engine effect from the wings and tail, regeneration from the khorne head and fill the rest with defensive stats like missile resist, ward save and melee defence. He gets like 30k+ dmg each battle for me. It's pretty fun to ram him into 4 enemy units and watch them slowly melt

    • @demon3203
      @demon3203 2 года назад

      What difficulty you play on? I'm guessing not legendary?

    • @darkrite9000
      @darkrite9000 2 года назад +4

      Yes he can do that, but the problem is that even if you go with the most defensive items plus those mortis engine type items, he's still way more fragile and squishy than any other LL in the game, he can't get anywhere near as much ward save as others, Skarbrand can get at most 50% ward save, and unless I'm mistaken his melee defense when maxed out is higher than Demon Prince's, and then there's his melee attack and weapon strength, which is way higher. The Demon Prince only getting at most 10% ward save makes him instantly less tanky than most other normal lords who can get around 50% ward save if you put all the ward save items on them (it's technically 47%, cause I think only Khorne factions can get the collar of Khorne talisman item which provides 20% ward save, everyone else uses talisman of preservation as the best ward save item for that slot, which is 17%). Armor of Destiny or Trickster's helm both provide 10% ward save, and then either physical resist or melee defense respectively. That alone equals the ward save the Demon Prince gets, but then there's the 3 talismans that give ward save of increasing amounts relative to rarity. An exalted bloodthirster lord would be better at tanking and fighting against other dangerous single entities than the demon prince. And any of the others are better spellcasters than the demon prince could ever be. With exalted Keepers of Secrets being better in both melee and spellcasting. Hell even a Herald of Khorne when maxed out with good equipment, may be able to beat the demon prince in melee just fine. Let alone what ranged does to the poor guy.
      So he needs a buff, they can either buff his items, or they can consolidate and shrink part of his skill tree down to something more manageable, and then give him a small personal skill line. This would have much the same buffs as others, but with less points needed. Melee attack and defense, hp, speed and charge bonus, and then a 10% ward save skill, and an ability at the end of the tree, it restores hp, vigor and gives 20% ward save for the duration, make this a single use or maybe a bit more, maybe 3 use ability. This would drastically increase his ability to fight, without making him as strong as the other major daemon LLs like Skarbrand or Nkari. And would make his potential as a good anti blob non-spellcaster LL due to the mortis engine abilities quite useful. I don't think improving his spellcasting potential is as important, but if you wanted to do that, maybe have a skill in his skill tree that reduces cooldown and costs of all spells. He just needs help, him, and Be'lakor, who while great in a fight, doesn't do anything else. Be'lakor needs army bonuses, and maybe a couple global bonuses, just something.

    • @darkrite9000
      @darkrite9000 7 месяцев назад +1

      @@Piotrus2019 Zhao Ming would win, I say this because fighting Miao Ying with Skarbrand I just barely lost against a friend. But that was about 20% ward save vs Miao Ying's 50%-ish ward save (if I recall correctly). Miao Ying could've gotten more ward save, which could've made it even harder. So Zhao Ming would likewise have the advantage. And that's because yes, 90% ward save is possible with either of them, and then there's the fact they have 2 hp regen pools. Meaning their effective total hp is much higher than Skarbrand.
      Though the fact Skarbrand can, while having less ward save and total available hp, nearly win against Miao Ying, does say a lot about his own strength. Sadly Skarbrand not being able to get a lot of ward save does mean he is at a disadvantage in prolonged battles. Though with his high mass he was just kicking Miao Ying around most of the time. But yeah, the dragon siblings are the strongest lords due to having an extra hp regen pool (being their dragon form regen pool, vs their human form regen pool), and being able to get 90% ward save, which very few lords can do.
      I think the person who'd actually have the best chance against the dragon siblings would be Malekith, since Destroyer is basically a nope for any sorts of spells or abilities, and I am pretty sure it would also then prevent the siblings from transforming (that is my assumption, I have not actually test that though). Beyond that it's a matter of either doing damage to them fast enough (which is very hard given the ward save), or outlast them somehow (which I suppose a spellcaster lord might be able to do if you have infinite magic and they're fast enough to not be caught).

But his weakness is missile attacks and magic. So tzeentch really is a good counter. But he can actually take on bloodthristers fairly easily as well as 1v1 exalted daemons and win. Plus he can heal with his 2 unique abilities that also increase his weapon damage, damage resistance and melee attack debuffs. But his upkeep cost is abysmal and reducing upkeep for him isn't great because it takes away points from his combat and magic. And for kislev having shadow magic is actually really good and way better than the other lores. Not only that he can fly. Ironically his best fit is with kislev. Which makes no sense. He's a 10/10 kislev lord for me so far. But because of that he's generally a D tier lord as you said. It's so bizarre.

    Legend got something wrong both miao ying and zhao ming do have global bonuses although not amazing, miao ying has the skill harmonious which provides plus 20 relations with cathay and the skill reinforced bastion which reduces costruction costs of great bastion buildings by 40%, for zhao ming he has the skill lord of shang yang giving plus 40 relations with ogre kingdoms and the skill strange alchemy which gives plus 1 capasity of alchemists and plus 2 alchemists recruit rank faction wide. I don't know if these global bonuses are enough to change the rank of miao ying or zhao ming.

    Reddit about to say that Legend confirmed a halfling legendary lord.

      Male Halfling lord is a support and caster lord, blessed with the Lore of Second Breakfast. He can take a corgi or a swan for a mount. He buffs his army's replenishment, reduces upkeep, and his spells are good for supporting front lines. He has a wide area heal spell that's better at healing infantry than Single Entities.
      The female Halfling Lord is a berserker type, akin to a Slayer lord or Big Boss, armed with a rolling pin. She can't take a mount, but stacks physical resistance and AP damage, making her a champ at chewing through elite infantry.
      This is less of a shitpost than it sounds, and is actually pretty accurate to the army stats printed for Halflings. Besides the Lore of Second Breakfast, but that's more because not having magic is a bigger deal in TWW.

    Don't forget DaemonPrince can have 0 upkeep on units if you specialize in 1 or even 2 specific Chaos troop trees. I ran a Khorne only campaign and I had an entire stack of units on my LL that had less than 50 upkeep total.

    Only thing I'd disagree on is N'kari I think he should be A tier, because he increases disciple army size factionwide, which I've found is really helpful mid/late game for defense and offense, he also increases relations with Warriors of chaos, Daemons, Beastmen and Noraca by 25, also his aura passive which reduces MD helps his army fighting beside him and it stacks with charmed and musk effects.

    Doesnt Zhao Ming provide relations with ogres and reduced upkeep for mercenaries?

    My Demon Prince Undivided is quite good actually, in battle that is. He becomes near invulnerable in melee, due to physical resistances, base 15% and then more from Tempered Rage and For the Slaughter, has Gorefeast enabling him to regain health easily, and works as a mortis engine in combat with Pestilent Decay and Serpentine Tail. I found most of the set bonuses useless after favor being maxed out, so I don't bother. He can go in straight away, and even if he loses 30% of his hit points early on, as long as he's kept in combat he can leave the battle at full health or near full health. He also has 40% Spell Resistance.
    "Lord of the Pit" (my name for him) stat-line is respectable as well with
    Armor: 50
    Leadership: 84
    Speed: 76
    Melee Attack: 62 (magical)
    Melee Defense: 52
    Weapon Strength: 516 (297 Armor Piercing)
    Charge Bonus: 45
    (Normal Combat Difficulty - no difficulty bonus or penalty)
    His Parts are: Bestial Charging Horns, Trophied Collar, Venomous Wing Spurs, Spiked Gauntlets (left), Heavy Armored Gauntlets (right), Trophied Legs, Battle-Worn Tail, and Titanic Great Axe.
    This makes him quite red with 5 Khorne parts, 2 Nurgle parts, and 1 Undivided Part
    Why the Trophied Legs and Trophied Collar when "better" parts exist? I disagree. Trophied Legs and Trophied Collar are among the few parts that add both melee defense and melee attack, and keeping those above 60 and 50 are necessary to make him a useful melee character. The weakness of my Demon Prince is that he doesn't have a single spell. He is reliant on other spell casters. He only also have one ability; Daemonic Onslaught. His choice of weapon and bonuses however, also building up AP damage, makes him an excellent duelist against most other characters, when combined with his toughness and the combination of Pestilent Decay, Serpentine Tail and Tempered Rage gaining more resistance from kills, make him a superb infantry and cavalry killer as well. Despite 62 and 52 attack and defense he can take on more or less anything once he gets going.
    Not saying he is more than a C tier as a faction leader, he is weak in that role, but he can become a really good combatant if one just stops putting together useless set bonuses and actually match up ability combinations instead.

    I agree with the general points. It seems likely that CA learned some lessons from how the comparative power of Legendary Lords has a pretty significant impact on what factions people play, since they've gone to a lot of work to make almost all of them good to use on the battlefield and with some useful skills to guide your main army composition. In magical christmasland everyone would be in A tier, but keeping it so there's only really one outright overpowered choice and one simply weak choice is about as good as you can get.

      I mean, especially considering the really weak choice is from probably the most experimental and weird faction, and the really strong one is from the faction already skewed towards powerful characters and micro, it's not bad at all.

    A halfling lord would probably offer a ton of benefits well probably being useless in combat, as they are known for being ridiculously good cooks and having very charismatic individuals among them, and in 40k they are extremely good snipers and gorilla fighers able to fire and move u detected to a new position to fire more. If their combat abilities extend to fantasy, one may be extremely vulnerable in melee or damage in general but be extremely good at stealth and ranged attacks well being a small target so they could just avoid all damages, but die if they get end up actually getting hit,
    On top of that they could provide a ton of cooking bonus to buff units in their army and have access to campaign perks that improve replenishment, lower cost for things, improve diplomatic relations with factions that would be interested in the legendary cooking skills of the halflings such as humans, ogres, dwarves, elves, and maybe even other less likely ones that may value their cooking more then raw halflings meat.

      Friendly reminder that Fantasy Halflings can ride corgis and swans, giving them cavalry prowess that the Brettonians can only dream of.

    I think I would at least give the Daemon Prince a B. Like, he isn't the worst melee combatant, there's certainly weaker lords than him at level 1. He does provide some kind of bonus to whatever units it is you want to give him and he even has some global buffs in his skill tree. He ticks something in all criteria.
