      Slaanesh Spawn are really close to being good, too. If they actually had Soporific Musk, and a bit more armor and Melee Defense, they could be the holding unit the army always wanted.
      Alas, your holding units will have to be High Elf Spearmen.

    • @WildMarker

      Even in SP they're good. They can support Daemonettes by fighting together and applying musk, it's a really strong combo.

    • @NicolasFister
      @NicolasFister 2 года назад

      I've personally used that combo, and I can attest to their effectiveness. When I tried to send Exalted Daemonettes against Phoenix Guard, I ended up losing a lot of them, but when I sent a unit of Chaos Spawn with a unit of Exalted Daemonettes, the Chaos Spawn acted as a damage buffer which protected them.

    For the most part I agree with the last, but having put at least a 100 hundred hours into slaanesh I really disagree with the halescourge marauders in particular. Early game, they are some of the most cost effective infantry that slaanesh can afford. Not only can they hold the line but they will net a bunch of kills especially early on against the likes of khorne and chaos. If you are using the daemonettes as your frontline you are asking for a bunch of casualties which is why you are probably ranking the exalted variants so low. Hammer and Anvil is the goto for slaanesh by far, and having the halescourge just not break and murder everything while holding out for their insane health pool makes the rest of the roster excel at their jobs so much more. The lower tier marauders in comparison just do not compare and hold as well, they will take an excessive amount of damage and break significantly faster.

    I'd have to disagree with the exalted daemonettes. Global recruitment is less important when you have unlimited chaff armies from around turn 35 onwards. I tend to have maybe 2 or 3 proper armies for the whole campaign (usually til about turn 180). Since i'll have 20+ disciple armies with daemonettes in, I want my main armies to have the core Slaanesh combo of charmed, poisoned and soporific, it makes playing very hard feel like normal mode.
    They always last the whole campaign, and in a game where most battles are fought in settlements, they perform better in the narrow streets even without the core combo (which you basically always have as soon as you get soporific on the marauders).
    Great vid though, love the manscaped theme

    • @toggle3927
      @toggle3927 2 года назад +3

      It's consistent with his previous tier rankings at least. Greatsword shades are significantly better in manual and slightly better in AR over the other two variants but he penalizes them all the same. I agree with you though once you understand what disciple armies are to the faction it's a mistake to value convenience over quality in your real armies.

  • @fiendishrabbit8259
    @fiendishrabbit8259 2 года назад +3

    With a bit of tech the hellscourge (infantry&cavalry) and Spawn are pretty good. Hellscourges&Hellstriders benefit a lot from the marauder tech (cheap, huge charge bonuses and musk lowering enemy attack&defence). Spawn are easily available (you'll get their building in most provinces) and they function well with marauders. But they're mostly there to provide good thumping power and enough mass to bog down enemy large entities.
    Hellstriders in particular are good for taking minor settlements. Split your army into two main groups and then two groups of cavalry, send your main group for the two most easily taken objectives (wides access routes) and then the cavalry groups for any undefended or lightly defended objectives. If you do it right the enemy won't have time to build anything but tier 1 towers and the AI can't handle you having so many different groups going for different objectives.
    The real MVP of the Slaanesh campaign roster though is skinwolves. Slaanesh has a really easy time getting norsca allies, and skinwolves are absolutely boss in the types of battles you fight as Slaanesh (bait out enemy cav&SEMs, chew them up with Skinwolves).
    P.S: Playing at very hard. The ability to pause does change the dynamics somewhat.

  • @MorroWolf
    @MorroWolf 2 года назад +3

    I've had some surprising results with chaos spawn, I hate how slow they are to heal and take 2 turns to recruit which is lame, but I've had them with a unit or two of marauders hold off 10+ units in a siege for almost the entire battle. The seem to excellent at really buying time. I've also had them rack up some of my highest kill counts as well. I've been kind of a fan of them since morghur got to give them super regeneration and could double their weapon strength so they together had over 1.2k but obviously in other armies they aren't as good. Not the best unit I don't use them much but sometimes they're quite useful. I usually am able to shut down ranged units quickly before they get into the thick of it which helps them last a long time.

  • @shanethesmith443
    @shanethesmith443 2 года назад +9

    Fiends are a good way to counter Slaanesh's poor replenishment, since they can take a fair bit of damage before losing any entities, similar to chariots, but unlike chariots, they can actually do a bit of work against large targets. I did a campaign with half Fiends and half Exalted Daemonettes, and another with half Fiends and half Heartseekers, and in both cases the Fiends ended up carrying me through a large portion of the Chaos realms simply because they recover most of their damage after a fight. In fairness, my micro may not be good enough to make full use of the cavalry, and I haven't tried the SEM's yet.

    Phantasmagoria and shards on secret keepers is quite the WOMBO Combo, phant prevents the opponent from moving, thus all of shards can land.
    Just need one to cast phant and the rest can nuke. You can then switch it up and hold sections of the opponent’s army in place while you focus down specific units.

  • @pyrrhus6264
    @pyrrhus6264 2 года назад +5

    Slaanesh furies might actually be one of my favorite units in WH3. I like to play Slaanesh using the mobility to gang up on isolated units, and being super fast flyers they’re really good and getting around to help gank units all over the map. Even on VH battles
    AP, devastating flaker, and messed up collision on all furres let’s them deal a ton of damage on the charge. Early game I pretty much only use N’kari, the chariots, and the fiends with 3 or 4 furies. Chariots or fiends hit a unit first to get the models all spread out, then drop in furies. Most stuff just melts in seconds and you can run away before anything else can retaliate. A swarm of them can chew apart almost any ranged unit very fast too. Plus they’re super cheap so if they die oh well

    I think this is a reasonable list, thank you. I'm trying my best with Slaanesh; I admit that the micro required is very much on the high end and a real challenge for me but I figure if I push to get better with them, it's only going to help me improve my game with other armies. I'd likely bump up the fiends a tier; they often do a lot of work for me although I may just be biased because of their cool animations. Exalted Daemonettes deserve S-tier. It's a tier 3 infantry that delivers way above its paygrade and you can get a reduced upkeep landmark for them. I beat Slaanesh on Very Hard Battle and Campaign. My N'kari army had like 10 of them, some fiends, and some other monsters/heroes. They were vital for my mid-late game success and were essential for killing other daemons. Khorne bullshit has tons of physical resistance and armour...but Exalted Daemonettes have magic attack to bypass the physical resistance and high AP damage. They made conquering all the daemon races much easier. At least put them in A tier...Exalted daemonettes deliver way more value and punch way above their weight class than marauders do.

    I like the contact effects on the exalted demonettes and the fiends, but I don't play on legendary, so I don't know how much -9 melee attack and -5? ma / md is for that (also poison from any cavalry and the locus abilities on the lords/heroes)

    Considering it's winds cost on say Nkari, having Keepers with bound Phantasmagoria is actually pretty pimp imo, and while keepers are fast, I feel like compared to usual Slaanesh shenanigan's, they aren't *that* fast. Considering their tier, recruitment time and cost, I do think Keepers should have some sort of healing mechanic, but fortunately as of the latest 1.3 patch, N'kari should have casualty replenishment now.

    Big disagree on hellscourge marauders and basic daemonettes, I would swap their positions in the list. Putting hellscourges under sword marauders is kinda like putting skeleton spearmen under skeleton warriors; the few more gold pieces you pay in upkeep is easily worth the extra stats because they get way better at doing their job which is "don't die while the important part of the army does the killing". Sword marauders have a bunch more damage with the anti infantry bonus, but who cares when that's not their job and you have a bunch of other stuff that does that job better? 42 base MD on the hellscourges is a big deal, and with the marauder techs (more stats, soporific musk) they can keep doing their tanking job even later in the campaign when they go up against higher quality troops, while their upkeep goes down even more. They will rarely get wiped out because they flee instead of banishing, and you can easily replace them with global recruitment if needed.
    The regular daemonettes are good at killing stuff but are insanely squishy and expensive to replace, which you will need to do fairly often given the prevalence of siege battles where its hard to keep them in safe fights and easy to have them rout and banish due to lapses in micro/attention. Their only saving grace is the physical resist, but that's not much help in wh3 so far because you spend so much time fighting other daemons who all have magic attack and tanky infantry.

    I knew the moment he said MD was not important and quick to replace troops were important I was going to disagree. I get what he is saying, but slaanesh has so many ways to just tank enemy MA, that sure your hp and armor are pathetically low, but you are still a lot more durable than it looks like on paper. A lord with an aoe -8, plus charmed from exalted daemonettes, blus soporiphic musk from any number of sources is a constant -21MA for the enemy right there. That isn't even mentioning other spells and buffs that can temporarily push it further. Speed and damage are key, of course. But very few slaanesh units lack in either of these. It is their thing, their whole gimmick. But debuffing combined with high MD really can make your units significantly more durable.

    The real sad thing about Slaanesh is that their S tier is B tier for just about everyone else. Their monsters arent better than say (non-infinite ammo) Stegadon, Terrorgheist or Jabberslythe. The additional spells helped, and Keepers can be a proper doomstack with micro/pausing but they are still pretty much the easiest to kill large units. While their infantry is 'What if you played Skaven but only had plague monks and no plague priests' essentially.

    • @Grivehn
      @Grivehn 2 года назад +1

      @@muhammadsaduddin308 Fair enough. In game it means they have a higher skill ceiling than every other faction by far, though. In pvp that was correct since WH3 launch, and that was to be expected. Slaanesh is utter garbage if not used by the tip top SC level micro players.
      But if everyone advocates for continous cavalry and chariot charges even in pve, that was ALWAYS a pain to do. Compare Slaanesh to Dwarfs... the latter just sits there doing nothing other than shooting the entire game and wins just about any battles.
      Slaanesh not having ranged was, is, and always will be stupid, altho thats not CA's fault of course. They're the nemesis of the elves, who are notorious for their archery since Tolkien. But sure, lets NOT give Slaanesh units bows. Slaanesh is like the reetardo little sister of Khorne this way, not a faction on its own.

    i just feel sad about the spawn, because they actually are actually pretty good in multiplayer :(
    i mean, in domination, khorne spawn are easily S tier, just spam warriors and spawn in almost every matchup!
    their strength is in their unbreakable mass to easily block and trap single entities, cav and chariots from running all over your infantry, plus they hit pretty hard and work well in tandem with infantry, and infantry is king in domination
    but yeah, i know you don't do multiplayer... but i bet head to head campaigns would be very interesting to watch! some other creators have done they and they are great!

    • @aprinnyonbreak1290
      @aprinnyonbreak1290 2 года назад +3

      Most H2H campaigns are just spamming the fastest produced armies a faction has and impaling them on the other guy's stuff as quickly as possible. Some factions have other strengths they can lean on, but essentially, a lot of doomstack cheese gets shut down by another person, and so the dumbest, least complex armies without glaring flaws are what wins the day.
      Of course, the undisputed king of H2H is Oxyotl.
      He lives everywhere, has insane campaign movement and replenishment, can pop in and disrupt factions like Alarielle or Taurox who might otherwise snowball early, and is generally impossible to finish off without achieving a big campaign victory, because he WILL have one last province left in some asscrack of the world. Like Nagashizar, or maybe Sylvania. Or his personal property, the Galleon's Graveyard.
      You know that feel when an entire ass doomstack *pops* in to your capital and takes it on their turn, destroys it over the end turn, fully replenishes and so takes more and more of those settlements, and then *pops* back to who knows where when they notice your own armies coming back through the vision of everything they have, and the armies you send to retake it keep being jumped, so you can't rely on small armies to do it, and end up with huge "no go zones" in your own territory where smaller armies, crapstacks, or lone lords just can't move through?
      You know that feel when tier 5 settlements become mere fantasy, and are caught in a landslide straight out of reality?
      No. Nothing yet released matches Oxyotl.

    Slaanesh Furies are MILES better than any other Fury though, you didn't mention what makes them special at all. They have armor piercing damage and the Slaaneshi flanking trait (I forget what it's called)... Since they're fast fliers too, I'm sure I don't need to elaborate on how that actually makes them potentially *incredible* value for money, I would at least have bumped them up to Sexy myself (even though other Furies range from Scandalous to Sad). They could easily cycle rear-charge the most heavily armored elite units and cause massive damage, as a tier 1 cheap as chips flyer. And the AI tend to try to run their ranged units away when fliers get too close, letting the Slaanesh Furies get their massive flanking bonus for free there too.

    • @aprinnyonbreak1290
      @aprinnyonbreak1290 2 года назад +1

      Also they are LITERALLY your only recourse against enemy fliers with ranged attacks.
      That's not a huge problem in TWW3, Cathay's inept balloons are the only such units, but once Immortal Empires comes out, every single Slaanesh army wants at least 2-3 of those for gyrocopters, terradons, hawk riders, and so on.
