Solche Schränke hatte man früher auf dem Bauernhof zur Brotaufbewahrung benützt. Dieser Schrank ist geschätzt um 1850 entstanden. Da er schon mal einen Wurmbefall hatte wurde er mit einer Wärembehandung entwurmt.
Cupboards like this were used on farms in the past to store bread. This cabinet is estimated to have been made around 1850. Since it had already had a worm infestation, it was dewormed with a heat treatment.

I love your videos and the furniture you restore, it´s amazing how you care about every little detail. I´m going to try restoring my flat´s staircase (not that old, 1940) that has been severy mistreated and I´m sure there´s a lovely wood hidden beneath the white paint. Since I´m a middle aged, petite woman, I guess I´ll go one step at a time (no pun intended) trying to get as good a result as you do. Thanks for sharing, it´s lovely to watch you work. It's good to hear people are starting to restore. it's a very interesting area of crafting. good luck with your stairs. No matter if it turns out perfect, you will love it if you rework it yourself. My dog's name is "neko" which is Japanese and means "cat" 😀👍

Когда смотришь вашу работу,кажется ,что всё так просто.А ведь это достаточно сложно!Сохранить возраст мебели,при этом ею можно пользоваться ещё многие годы.Обычный шкаф имеет свою длинную историю...Всё таки деревянная мебель это на века.Хочется посмотреть как через 100 лет попробуют отреставрировать мебель от IKEA😂😂😂.

Looks like fir. That’s what our house is trimmed in and we’re taking off all the paint. It’s difficult. Thanks!
This is spruce but it looks similar to fir. Removing the paint from wood is really hard work.🙃

I enjoy watching your work on these old pieces. I see lots of woodworm holes on many pieces; what are you doing to make sure they are completely dead?
This piece of furniture was in a heat chamber. There the core of the wood is heated to 60 degrees Celsius. After 30 minutes it is slowly cooled. All parasites and their eggs and larvae die in the process.

what type of glue are you using or do you make your own very nice job
the old kind of glue made from animal bones and skin. We call it "Knochenleim". The glue needs to be heated. I also use fish glue. Fish glue can also be processed cold.

We only replace parts when absolutely necessary. This piece of furniture has been in a warming chamber to kill the worms.

In former days bread were stored in it. The bread was baked weekly on the farm in the bread oven
