  • YES to dry shampoo, and a bigger YES to making your own, for PENNIES. This stuff is AMAZING, you have to try it (and it smells so good, too). I was honestly shocked when I tried it at first, it was so easy and it really worked.
    I sing the praises of dry shampoo, often. I love the stuff! It helps me get to that coveted third (or fourth :-/) day hair, and less washing means less drying-out and more luscious hair. BUT: I don’t love the price of store bought brands. In this video I give my easy, inexpensive and ultra effective dry shampoo recipe AND I offer some tips for how much dry shampoo is too much dry shampoo as well as an easy hair rinse recipe, and a scalp cleanse recipe!
    Thanks for tuning in. I hope this video helps your hair, (and your wallet)!

    I wash my hair once a week. I use a non toxic shampoo and since I switched I notice a HUGE difference in how often I need to wash my hair. I make a dry shampoo similar to this but instead of cornstarch I use organic arrowroot powder, organic unsweetened cocoa powder, rosemary essential oil and tea tree essential oil. Works like a charm!!

    I use cornstarch for dry shampoo too, and I love it way more than any spray dry shampoo I’ve ever used. I find it works best if I use it before bed, and by morning my hair isn’t greasy.

COMPLETELY GONE!!! IT DOESNT COME BACK.. i also use the apple cider vinegar rinse and today i made and used the dry shampoo for the first time .....i love it!!!! this video is a hair care treasure trove .... i let my hair air dry and then i just brush it through with my hot brush (like 1 minute!!) and i USE NO ADDITIONAL PRODUCTS (my hair looks great). I wash my hair about once a week or as needed. I have natural curly hair which means that my natural oils don't always make it very far down the shafts of my hair. With curly hair you have to be careful about washing it so that is does not get dried out and brittle. Because curly hair can get dried out very easily and regularly I always use a leave in conditioner. There are some natural products that can be used in a diy recipe such as coconut oil or shea butter. Thank you for sharing all your wonderful knowledge!!

    My best dry shampoo tip is to put it on freshly cleaned hair as soon as it's dry. It goes on easier and keeps your hair looking good longer than waiting to use dry shampoo on day two or three 💕

    Thank you. Good easy tip. I would question using vinegar after conditioner though, as it will strip the conditioner out of your hair. The vinegar makes your hair feel smooth because it makes the cuticles along the hair shaft lie flat, but it also cuts through oils from conditioner and will rinse that off as well. I would suggest conditioning after the vinegar rinse rather than before. Or just ditching the conditioner and saving your money.

    Thanks so much. I have been using d/shampoo from the supermarket and it has made me so dry and flaky. It's awful. I especially notice my scalp itches after using it and after shampooing. So now I will be making my own and can't wait to see how it works on my hair. Thin hair so hard to keep looking clean.

    I wash my hair about once a week. But no sooner than three days. I have curly hair so it can be a bit unruly. I will shampoo and condition it in the shower. I start with warm water and finish with cold water. When I get out I blot my hair dry then spray on some apple cider vinegar. Next I add sweet almond oil to my ends. My hair is soft and the curls look much nicer. I don't need to worry about volume or bouncy hair I only need to worry about flat curls. And my regimen helps with that. I can keep it going and looking good for about a week.
    Love your videos!

    I have really short, very dry hair so I only wash it about once a week. Last time I went 3 weeks. But I don't sweat a lot and I don't usually use styling products so it really doesn't get very dirty. I do rinse every time I shower so some of the potential gunk gets rinsed out. I tried the baking soda/shampoo trick the last time I washed my hair and it was fabulous. My usually coarse crispy hair is very clean and soft.

    2 -3 days between washing otherwise my hair resembles straw, and if I have used a dry shampoo I will use a tea tree based shampoo because that clarify's my hair like no body's business. Ordinary days it's just a regular shampoo and for those fine dry ends I get I found a cream (Percy and Reeds Overnight Wonder something) and I have had comments on how amazing it works, bonus is you apply to dry hair. Over the past year and a half I've been able to "train" my hair I only wash it every 4 or 5 days now and used dry shampoo a lot more when I was in the oily stages of this process. I usually use it once in the 4 -5 day to help in styling my hair for when I go to work. It really started out as me trying to save shampoo so that I wouldn't be spending a lot of money when I moved out of home 2 years ago and so far it's worked really well. Recently I dyed my hair a dark black purple blue colour and try to wash it as little as possible to keep the colour longer.

    • @CatholicK5357
      @CatholicK5357 4 года назад

      What does zero waste mean? Are you not wasting the dry shampoo once it is used?

    • @kendra8845
      @kendra8845 4 года назад

      @@CatholicK5357 Zero waste means you are producing the least amount of waste possible. It is not wasting the dry shampoo once used because it isn't being wasted, it is being used and you create less waste because of it and use less water because using shampoo normally means you have to buy shampoo in a bottle. If you make this you are lessening the amount of shampoo bought which means you would be lessening the amount of waste produced. If you already buy refillable shampoo then that's great, but with refillable, it can be pricey so this is a good way to cut costs while staying zero waste. Also, this dry shampoo is compostable so when you do wash it out/ it falls out it won't hurt the environment.

    Thanks beauty! X

    What about for blonde hair? What should i use instead of coco powder? Thank you! :)

    • @daisychainexplores
      @daisychainexplores 7 лет назад +15

      as far as I know, the cocoa powder is mostly there to make the powder darker so that it doesn't show on dark hair. So I guess if you are a blonde you can just leave it out.

      I was wondering the same thing but as Daisy Chain said, just using the corn starch without the cocoa makes sense.

      Thank you! That's what I thought too but wasn't sure. Cocoa powder sounds so yummy, so I hoped maybe there is something similar but for lighter hair

      Yes just ditch it and use corn starch!

      I have dyed hair that is red. I was worried the full amount of coco powder would be too dark. So I did half the amount. I didnt make as much in case I didn't like it. Did 1 tablespoon corn starch half cocoa powder. Worked well.
      You could see the powder on my natural hair a bit(roots)..kind of dulled it... but not the red dyed parts.

      Try massage your scalp with salt (yes, salt!) before washing your hair. You can a little water to make it a bit tender for your scalp. I had the same problem before and it worked for me. Other alternative, try use shampoo with menthol/mint/teatree essentials. It helps reduce the itch. Good luck!

      croccatcher it’s unlikely, but you may have lice? I had lice a few years ago and my scalp was so itchy, it drove me nuts. Maybe get your scalp checked in case?

    I have the worst hair even it's so frizzy it drives me insane. Just recently I have been finding within a day it is needing washing more. So if I am not going out I leave it greasy for longer because I heard it helps replenish the oils.
