This movie so perfectly captures the blue-collar aura of Pittsburgh/Johnstown, & of the entire Rust Belt in general. The look, the colors, the cars, the dialogue, the gloomy atmosphere that permeates even in the summer & fall...Amazing. Only thing missing is the Yinzer accent of SW PA. I was in high school in the Pittsburgh area when it came out...It was a huge deal all throughout the WPIAL region.
Good song. Wish I bought it when it came out. Thanks to the internet for making it available again! Did not know the male vocalist until a search. He voice is now familiar! Cracks and skips tell you how old the song is!
Right now all through the SW PA Rust Belt, somebody is telling somebody else that this movie was filmed at their high school & in their town. Movie was a huge deal in the region...
great soundtrack... actually the lyrics kind of describes my life...this song is very inspiring and I remember I went to the movie theater and watched this movie 5 times...
Agree with other commentor.....I always felt this was one of Cruise's most underated movies and performances. I even read one time he himself felt that way as well. Some of the town's makeup is just a little similar to the area I grew up in. This song never did get alot of air time when it was released...it is a superb song...great vocals and still love it today. I keep it in my RUclips Favs and play it fairly often. Thanks for posting this one. Go Ampipe!
this whole soundtrack is awesome...I bought the album after I saw the movie..I'm not the greatest fan of Tom Cruise, quite frankly, but I liked this one for certain reasons..👍👍👍
I sometimes, when the weather dictates indoor activities only, line up my favorite Tom Cruise movies and just watch his evolution as an actor! He’s done pretty well for himself and, most importantly, seems to be a really good guy!
This movie inspires me--like Stef in the movie, I act out my anger in strong ways. Once in community college, I entered the restroom in a pissed-off mood over what I forget. I grabbed the wastebasket and upended it. Paper towels spilled out; unexpectedly, an empty wine bottle tumbled out and smashed on the floor. I threw the empty wastebasket across the room. I felt a lot like Stef when he got kicked off the team.
This is a great movie that speaks to anyone who grew up in the working class industrial heartland of America. One of Tom Cruise's best movies.
"Say we're gonna sink or swim....BUT WE INTEND TO.......FLY..!!!! ❤
First time hearing this. Huge Tom Cruise and Chris Thompson fan.
Hey Kurowski, you tell Bosko I'll be seeing him around!

It also captured the slutty deadbeat lazy women from Pittsburgh
Where black and white seemed to get along. Sad things didn't last
@@TheShawnmaxx i don't know about getting along in total harmony -- it was more tolerating, coexisting, & going along to get along.
Amazing soundtrack...still lives in my head.....♥️
Great song Great movie

That brief guitar bridge at 2:36 should have a Grammy of its own

Encapsulates all the cheesiness of the epoch, but by god is it simply too enjoyable to crack out of it...
