AFD Lowering Springs 22+ WRX: www.aeroflowdynamics.com/prod...
Lowering cars is one of my favorite modifications because it can drastically affect how the car looks and when you pair it with a lip kit and some wheels it looks even better! We're installing the AeroflowDynamics Lowering Springs to lower the car about 1" all the way around and we're installing some new wheels!

Parting ways with that other channel seems to be a blessing in disguise. Enjoying your new content very much.
Appreciate all the support!!!

Sleeping with the boss' wife again? LOL J/K. I mean, unless it's true. @@KevinVo
Quick and to the point, clear instructions as well. Job well done
The torque specs saved me a bunch of time man - I always look them up for jobs like this - NEVER ASSUME!!! Appreciate you taking the few mins to type that out
Looks great! I ended up going with a 255/40 on fortune autos. Incredible driving and looks
I love the subtle drop!
The wheels look great. Along with the drop on the springs.
This looks perfect.
Great videos, finally subscribed lol. I absolutely respect you doing everything like us average dudes would be at home with no lift!
Appreciate the support!
I think a 255/40/18 is a better choice for VBs. 255/35/18 is a smaller diameter than stock if you have the premium wheels
Still not low enough but thank you. I love all your videos. More power to you.
We shall go more low!
get the whiteline roll center and bump steer kit and adjustable rear controls if you want any peformance out of the drop
I’m getting a clunk noise from one of the rears I tightened everything up and still getting it is it possible the top hat is not on correctly?
So I have sti 2017. I just installed lowering springs. But I heard some noise from it. Is that normal? O I did something wrong? Thank you. I love your videos 😅
Hey Kevin! I love your content. I just installed my AFD springs yesterday early morning since I was so pumped to install. Took me 6 hours but I’m a new enthusiast and car guy. I watched the AFD video the jdm right hand drive and your video. By far your video was the most thorough and covered everything I needed. Thanks for helping me out ! Do you have an insta?
With it being a mild drop are RCAs necessary? Or can I just get it to spec with an alignment
Well done. Hey, do you happen to still have those OEM springs? Would you wanna send those my way? I have a 2024 base model, and i'm curious if they fit.
Would the nuts on the top hut be the same size for the 15-21 wrx / stis?
Just doing springs is the most affordable way of doing it but in my opinion you have to deal with poor ride quality. For the amount of work involved I would say save up and get a set of Tein coil overs for the budget choice. Overall it looks good. I'm still not in love with the rear tail light design or the cladding on the side. Other than that they look pretty good.
I have a VB but with 2021 STI wheels, anyone know the best tire size to bring that tire to fender fitment?
Don’t you need to cut the bump stops? Maybe I missed that part
I appreciate how much you've done to this thing to try and fix how it looks. To be completely honest I think it still needs work, they really did their best to make this thing look bunk from the factory. These lowering springs were a step in the right direction for sure. Idk if I'll be 100% happy with how it looks until it's wide bodied and on bags. 😂
We've still got a lot to do!
Is trimming the factory bump stops something to consider with springs like these? Mild drops seem to be 50/50 with modifying the stops with people.
With it being a mild drop I didn't find it necessary.
7:09 you should shorten the white(ish) plastic sleeve !!! ...due to lower springs.
Hey Kevin, great content. Typically I’m seeing from a lot of people has their wheel spec as 18x9.5 +38. I’m not good at this stuff but I was looking to see if possibly the 18x9.5 +37 w/ 255x40 will fit with no rubbing? I’m also on lowering springs.
Please help. Thank you in advance.
tape a string w/a weight (e.g. tie a nut to it) to the top of the fender; let it hang down; measure how much room you have from the tire to inner lip of the fender. 1mm difference should be fine.
My end link is stuck in the control arm wtf do I do lmao
It’s tempting to put on the OEM front plate mount. Just cleaner than the relocates. 🤔
I hated that the dealer installed it at first but now it doesn't bother me haha
What are those wheels
3 finger wheel gap is crazyyyyy lmao 😂 just gets coils lol
Which u recommend, AeroflowDynamics springs or Whiteline?
who do you trust more?
What about the suspension geometry? Gonna be off and will need more adjustment with upgraded toe arms/control arms. To say it’s only $275 is a disservice. Need another $500 or so for the arms. IMHO with springs only you will be out of factory spec and the job is only half done.
You can adjust the toe front and rear and the camber in the front with the oem components.
Honestly they don't look all that much lower than stock. And still a large wheel gap at the front (three fingers is huge tbh). Needs coilovers.
More low we shall go!
@@KevinVo Haha, now you're talking my language :D
What car lift is that?
quickjack
Where did you get the lip
plenty of places...Aeroflow Dynamics (sponsor), Bayson-R (ebay), Extreme Online Store, FastWRX, Import Image Racing, Subispeed, etc.....plenty of places. I'm sure Amazon has a few too.
1. Better measure and show up the ride height different
2. No need to cut the pump stop of the shocks ?
1.1" in the front and 1" in the rear. No need to cut the bump stop.
do you have to get re aligned??
yes. any change that affects the position of the suspension arms/geometry should have an alignment to ensure the tires don't get eaten prematurely and the car drives/brakes straight. either $100 for an alignment or $700+ for tires, your choice.
What’s lifts are those?
Quickjack.
How long did it take you approximately alone??
factor 45 min to 1 hr per corner (assuming you have all of the necessary tools) and nothing throws you a curve ball. Many a tad longer if you don't have a lift.....
needs more low
Next step swap in a older sti motor for the rumble and needs lowered more but looks good in white
The bronze wheels are 👨🏻🍳 💋
Buuuuuttt… those horrendous black fenders takeaway any benefits of the visual drop. Paint match those godforsaken things and the drop would be more noticeable.
Soooooon
Early 🔥
Second :D
first :D
Takes every thing else off with an impact, yet decides to make removing strut nuts a manual job with hand tools… 🤔
You can sometimes get away with using an impact, but sometimes like in my case it starts spinning it which can damage the seals.
@@KevinVo you can literally take the nut off with no spring compressor…. This is likely why you spin the piston in the shock. There virtually no load on the shock top with the spring in so what you said, makes sense.
No offense, and it is just my opinion, but doing mods that make your car worse and are popular, these are poser mods man.
lowering your daily is so dumb, causes so many issues that take away from the car and for what? so it looks cooler? You can't even see it, you're driving it!
Maybe, maybe if it were a show car, then maybe.
It is 1" maybe 2" tops ever, and for that tiny difference people spend money, put in work, for a worse ride, a car that bottoms out way to easily, is hard to jack up and doesn't benefit at all in any way from doing it.
I just don't get it.
I watched a guy take a brand new $52k car and within 200 miles pull the suspension from the front end to add coil overs to drop it 1", the car had a dampening system and so perfectly engineered suspension that to tear it all apart to drop it 1" seems insane to me., you couldn't even tell it was dropped, lol.
Here's how I look at it. At the end of the day, if modifying your car makes you happy and puts a smile on your face then do it! In all reality, these lowering springs don't cause any issues whatsoever and like I stated in the video they ride practically the same as stock and they're very comfortable. I also just took the car out the track and they performed very well.
Since they don't lower the car an absurd amount there's no worry about rubbing or bottoming out and I personally can definitely tell the difference from stock ride height.
Everyone has their own preferences though so if you enjoy cars in their stock form there's absolutely no problem with that and I can respect that!
