These images were made using a high quality visible-light dissecting microscope (color) and a Scanning Electron Microscope (monochrome). Specimens include: 'scratched' vinyl (made in a process described here: (Vimeo link to scratch edition), rubber stamp letters, House-fly mounted to the surface of a vinyl record, text printed at a 1 point font using laser and inkjet printers on paper and transparencies, the metal foil that contains CD data, USB electronics, Audio tape parts, coins, bills, spider mite, touch pad display etc...

the clicking is distracting. sounds almost like the click pop sound you get when you gate and turn the attack or decay down to zero.
That clicking is the sound of gashes he's cut into the lead-out groove of an old record. That's why the video is so concerned with microscopy and images of records/tapes/cd's. He's been using this method in his music for years, usually modulating the harmonics with lengths of PVC pipe. Here, it's relatively unfiltered (some reverb near towards end) and paired with a minimal, syncopated drum machine loop. I suppose it could be annoying, but I've heard plenty of retrigger-happy electronic music which does far worse, and I love it!
