This animation brings back memories of traveling through Germany by train to see my grandparents, reading while looking out the windows on the beautiful scenery. Such a great song.
@@gabrielcurtticurtti3075 of course - over 33000KM of passenger rail. Trains look a little different than the one in the video (probably a shinkansen from japan), but they are there - going up to 300kph/200mph
I still remember hearing that groove for the first time in an H&M in June 2018. Thank God my SoundHound worked and I have such fond memories of that summer because of this song. I had lost 60 pounds due to illness, and I needed to change up my life so I quit my part-time job for an internship for a local sports talk show, where we had to travel all around my state, and this song is so strongly associated with that summer. It just reminds me of a time where I felt freer.
This video is still a wonderful meditation on how fragile life is. Even in our quietest and most peaceful moments, death is hanging over us constantly. Take as good care of yourself and others as you are able. Try to stay safe. Everyone's got a number, and who knows where it might come and from when.
I used to listen to this everyday 6 years ago, darkest days of my otherwise happy life... dreamed of a time when my life wasn't a living torture.. I put my head down, cleared massive debt, stayed fit and embarked on being better everyday, and now I must admit my life is really awesome! Special song and video
That's life, rolling the dice constantly. Sometimes our cards get pulled, but billions of years of programming and testing has got us this far. So we typically make it out fine, but still we can be quite fragile.
R y a n C e l s i u s ° S o u n d s Why do people put weird filters over The Simpsons? It makes me cringe. I have been a fan of the Simpsons for over a decade and it makes me sad when I see a "hype beast" version of Bart or homer.
You tell a complete story in a sensory symphony arranged with symmetry and a cool balance of tone and texture. This was a true pleasure to listen to. Thank you.
the piano does such a good job at tempering the aggression and funk elements of this song and adds that feel of sincerity in the chord progression of the verse and bridge. Such a perfect touch! I can't say enough about how well this song was put together. Without a doubt, my favorite song of 2018!
I totally agree & you nailed it with the expression "feel of sincerity". The voicing of the piano & the way it is recorded (distorted & panning) gives it a slightly sad, dreamy touch. If they would have banged out the chords with a fender rhodes on the 1 it would have been a totally different song (definitely less interesting). The whole thing is extremely well arranged & "solved", it's what it makes innovative and fresh & shows how much a clever arrangement & production can add to a song.
I saw them live and was sad at the end of their set when this bop wasn't played but THEN the encore brought them back for another 5 songs and finally I lost myself in this song when they played it
First heard this 2 years ago. Feels like a lifetime. Still makes me happy when I hear this. I know it’s selfish, but I’m kinda glad this song didn’t completely blow up. Still feels special, a hidden gem.
The visuals are damn near identical to Japanese pop art of the 80s. A time of incredible economic growth, optimism was higher than ever, and the feeling of happiness really shone through the art style. It wouldn’t stay however, as it turned out the economic growth was unsustainable, and the 90s led to one of Japan’s largest economic downturns ever. So this art style really hits home as incredibly nostalgic for that time for a lot of folks.
I grew up in Japan in the 90's and got samples of some of the best the previous decade had to offer. Casiopea is a band that embodies that optimism and brightness you describe. The main difference is through the decades they've kept those sounds of comfort and happiness alive in their souls and in the sounds they create for the world. I'm very lucky to have had family that was into the creations of others
The bag teetering off the edge of the shelf, The loose bolt on the train axel The breaking tree branch and ignoring these impending disasters to enjoy the view of the journey while it lasts. Reminds me of how I cope with anxiety on the daily.
My take: Speaking of anxiety, if the person were anxious the whole trip, she might have just attracted disaster. What we feel, we attract. It is the law of attraction. When we have high vibrations, we reflect them back to the Universe. A major disaster just might have happened in an alternate universe but it didn't and everything was all well and good. It is like anxiety just like you said because what we fear that is going to happen doesn't happen most of the time, the fear is only in our head. You are safe. In the girl's case, she was blissfully unaware of the impending disaster but she was just chill and at peace so the Universe only reflected that back, and the Universe made things happen in whatever mysterious and mystical ways the Universe does her thing.
I found this song (and discovered UMO for the first time) back in 2018 on my way to the airport to Thailand. This song completely transformed my entire experience throughout my trip. Had this playing constantly.
Most times the algorithm drops a steaming pile on you. Sometimes it drops a jam like this one and you realize there's a whole world full of beautiful things out there, so filled with wonderful and amazing experiences that you could fill a hundred lifetimes soaking it up and never even scratch the surface.
Being a needlessly paranoid person, I expected this video to go very wrong... ...but it doesn't. And I should expect the same in real life, I try, really. Tell myself it's not gonna happen but I still feel that horrible paranoia. I'll get better.
That's called anxiety. Also, you can clearly see @ 3:23, there were a series of unfortunate events about to unfold (if not, only avoiding one of them(the branch)).
Sometimes, life can be great, like a storybook. Sometimes it can feel like there is a God in the sky looking out for you, making sure you never go through a hardship you can't surmount. Sometimes everything can go a beautiful way you could never have expected, but it did, and you get to feeling so thankful for it in turn. From a paranoid perspective, life does not have good things. But if there can be no good things in life, then why live? There will always be good things in life; this is an absolute truth. All that's left up to you is to go and find them, and if you can't find them, make them. Don't let the terror control you; the world might be terrible, but it is also the most wonderful, beautiful, magical place a human being could ever ask for.
So subtle I love it, I got a feeling of life from the song and how many things can go right or go wrong in our little live's. The suitcase, the tree branch, a lug nut, all these things could've gone wrong causing a chain reaction but none of it happened she got to live on and enjoy life like we all are fortunate enough to do everyday I guess be greatful is what it's about 😄
I have the New Indie Pop channel on my Pandora app and I have discovered so many awesome new songs. I love this type of underground stuff, that's actual MUSIC.

All of the love, peace, mercy, and serenity be with you now and forever. 🦋😇🌞⛈️🐝💛
It's interesting how the music syncs with the video: a woman on a train, enjoying the natural beauty of life and towards the end a heavy object above her head that could fall at any moment. In a way, it is as if a message could gleaned: live your life to the fullest, find fulfillment, as life is short and we never know when it may close.
I scoured the comments for affirmation, this is definitely what I get from it. Relax, whether or not you know it, it could be any moment. Just enjoy it
it's also about avoidance/ignorance - notice the name of the song "honeybee" - notice how the train disturbs the honeybee in the beginning, and at the end, the tree branch falls because of termites

One of my best friends who I considered family was killed 4 months ago and I was sitting in my bathroom just stuck not knowing how to feel and this song randomly came on in one of my RUclips playlist and it just made me feel good and it settled my anxiety and stress about the situation. Idk what it was about this song but I have played it everyday since he died and it has helped me deal with his death tremendously.....thank God for music
Appreciate yalls replies man it feels good to know some good people with hearts still exist out here....usually it's dickheads in the comments so this felt good. Thank you guys
Love this! An appreciation for all that goes unnoticed or is noticed but only in passing. Video connects small and big alike--a bug is given as much attention as the sea, for instance. This is what life is: fleeting, forgotten, vastly underappreciated and always with at least the faintest hint of possible danger.
don't get too worried about at literally any moment half the world could get taken out by gamma radiation from a nearby supernova, don't sweat though because you have as much control over that as you do that suitcase, or the termites. Just ride it out and hope that all the chips fall into place
I had an experience like this once, riding on a train from Bern to Geneva in Switzerland. Beautiful landscapes, with the Swiss Alps on lakes, only thing is that I was snoozing and waking up for the entire trip.. still beautiful when I caught a glimpse.

I see this as a metafiction type of thing, where she is me, not reading the book, distracted by life as it passes her by from across the glass/screen/frame/window. It's the tragedy of my ambitions in a lot of ways because my desires are conflicted. So while I indulge in the view I lose myself from everything else - the responsibility, for example, that the band unknown mortal orchestra has towards their recievers - the selflessness they have to produce intelligent music - their devotion to the cerebral smog of conscientious quotidian life... Nuh I'm kidding, I don't know what any of that meant. I just took acid after reading Terry Eagleton. www.tumblr.com/dashboard
I’m having a really hard week / month / time in general right now and this song almost has me in tears with the beauty. I just wanna breathe and relax now. The suns out, it’s all good. The stress will pass.
The nuance of this video is incredible... at 3:35 the music becomes distorted with the guitar and the images are things that make you feel like there might be impending doom, but at 3:51 the music changes and everything is okay. Seriously a trip.
I disagree about the end being okay. I think they left it open to interpretation as a way of pointing out that life’s gonna be dangerous and throw hurdles at you and it’s up to you to look at it optimistically or pessimistically
Music does a lot of things for a lot of people. It's transporting, for sure. It can take you right back, years back, to the very moment certain things happened in your life. It's uplifting, it's encouraging, it's strengthening.

You're right! I feel very blessed to live in southern illinois..in my town we have an entirely volunteer-operated community radio. Each dj has their own 2 hr shows and there are no commercials, only underwriters. Friends of the station can come and help host w/ djs, and they quite frequently have local musicians come play live on the station. There's such an eclectic group of people on Wdbx..never heard another station like it anywhere. I'd be so bold as to say not even Sirius xm can fuck w it. Cheers to my fellow audiophiles!
I first heard this song on Pandora when I had literally nothing, sleeping on the floor and my daughter who is also my best friend was moving out, it lifted me up out of a lost, empty place and gave me some strength to keep going.
There's something about this song that is so honest and pure. Its not trying to be cool, its not trying to make a message or shake your booty... its about as pure a feeling, a wonderful a sensation as a soft breeze, the feeling of you loved ones fresh hair across your face, the coziness of a comforter in the dark of winter with her... or him.
lol how is this the happiest album when this doomsday, major league chemicals, if you're going to break yourself and the internet of love are all like pretty sad?
You know how you have those songs the universe randomly throws at you and drops a steaming pile of awesomeness in your lap? This is one of those songs 🎵 🌠
I sort of half watched it at first and thought that her rucksack was a pink blob man that was going to do something, until it did another angle which clearly showed a rucksack and not a little pink blob friend
I really felt like I needed to circle back to this music video and give a life update. I fell in love with this song around May this year and needed to listen to it and watch this music video daily. I never imagined that i’d be able to be the one to say this or be the one to tell the type of inspiring stories that you see on the internet, but here i am! Watching this video helped me to manifest my first ever solo travel trip through Europe! I went in August and visited Edinburgh, London, Paris, and Barcelona. On my train ride to London from Edinburgh, I made sure to watch this music video again. It was a huge deal for me and shocked a lot of my family members and they even accused me of having a secret boyfriend that I was traveling with. It took a lot of courage to fight my own self doubt and anxiety. I am the youngest in my family and a young woman, and the first to do this in my family and friends. I am so glad that I went and received the help and kindness of many strangers, hostel mates, and new friends along the way. This was truly the trip of a lifetime. I’ve learned so much about myself (very cliche i know), but have found so much confidence and self-love through the journey. Of course there were low points in the trip, but all of it was meant to be and for my self-growth. If you’re doubting on whether or not you should, this is your sign that you definitely should!!!
Just heard this for the 1st time as it came up in a playlist. WOW! I had to stop what I was doing, and really enjoy this. ❤ I've never heard of Unknown Mortal Orchestra, but now I wanna check out their work. Beautiful song, and video!
First time listening to it was alright. Second time was good. Then I listened to it right after an arduous upper body workout then at that moment in time I fell in love with this song. Absolutely blissful and calming euphoria. Much wow. Been in my head all week. Much respect to the hunnybees. I pray this spirit song gives them all hope for a better and rich honey season. Amen.

This animation brings back memories of traveling through Germany by train to see my grandparents, reading while looking out the windows on the beautiful scenery. Such a great song.
Nice
There's travel trains like this is germany?
You're comment is really heartwarming to me. I've started learning German recently and dream of travelling there some day. :)
@@gabrielcurtticurtti3075 of course - over 33000KM of passenger rail. Trains look a little different than the one in the video (probably a shinkansen from japan), but they are there - going up to 300kph/200mph
The shinkansen part is amusing as there has never been a fatal accident with a shinkansen, ever! In all the decades its driving through Japan now.
How are you these days?
This video is still a wonderful meditation on how fragile life is.
Even in our quietest and most peaceful moments, death is hanging over us constantly.
Take as good care of yourself and others as you are able.
Try to stay safe.
Everyone's got a number, and who knows where it might come and from when.

That’s a soldier termite which don’t eat wood so bad performance technically.
That part is funny 😂
I used to listen to this everyday 6 years ago, darkest days of my otherwise happy life... dreamed of a time when my life wasn't a living torture.. I put my head down, cleared massive debt, stayed fit and embarked on being better everyday, and now I must admit my life is really awesome! Special song and video
Woah its like everything could go completely wrong at any moment, but also it could just not.
That's life, rolling the dice constantly. Sometimes our cards get pulled, but billions of years of programming and testing has got us this far. So we typically make it out fine, but still we can be quite fragile.
So yeah that's basically a description of both the song lyrics and the video.
Sooo beautifull , incredible atmosphere, especially with the video

Hell Yeeaah!!
a bassline more magically delicious than a bowl of lucky charms
the piano does such a good job at tempering the aggression and funk elements of this song and adds that feel of sincerity in the chord progression of the verse and bridge. Such a perfect touch! I can't say enough about how well this song was put together. Without a doubt, my favorite song of 2018!
Me too..I saw him live at end of november..that was great also
I totally agree & you nailed it with the expression "feel of sincerity".
Fav of 2019 too and you know it bruh lmao

@@bloodyidit4506 You're a goddamn genius. 😁
I'm very lucky to have had family that was into the creations of others
do you have any movie recommendations with this art style?
Guys, when are we gonna have a 10 hour version? I think i might need one for revision rn

The bag teetering off the edge of the shelf,
The loose bolt on the train axel

and ignoring these impending disasters to enjoy the view of the journey while it lasts.
Reminds me of how I cope with anxiety on the daily.
My take:
Speaking of anxiety, if the person were anxious the whole trip, she might have just attracted disaster. In the girl's case, she was blissfully unaware of the impending disaster but she was just chill and at peace so the Universe only reflected that back, and the Universe made things happen in whatever mysterious and mystical ways the Universe does her thing.
be happy and confident

Same here, it's so unique.
Omg I put this On my playlist named "the taste I knew I never had" lmfao WHAT?!
groovy funky
Being a needlessly paranoid person, I expected this video to go very wrong...
...but it doesn't. And I should expect the same in real life, I try, really. Tell myself it's not gonna happen but I still feel that horrible paranoia.
I'll get better.
Ru I didn’t think I would find another person that felt like this. I tell myself everyday the same thing.. but it never goes away
Don't let the terror control you; the world might be terrible, but it is also the most wonderful, beautiful, magical place a human being could ever ask for.
you’ll get better.
Ru life’s a ride homie just gotta hang on and have fun 🤟🏽

It's interesting how the music syncs with the video: a woman on a train, enjoying the natural beauty of life and towards the end a heavy object above her head that could fall at any moment. In a way, it is as if a message could gleaned: live your life to the fullest, find fulfillment, as life is short and we never know when it may close.
You got it
I scoured the comments for affirmation, this is definitely what I get from it.
Relax, whether or not you know it, it could be any moment. Just enjoy it
it's also about avoidance/ignorance - notice the name of the song "honeybee" - notice how the train disturbs the honeybee in the beginning, and at the end, the tree branch falls because of termites
My take:

Love this! An appreciation for all that goes unnoticed or is noticed but only in passing. Video connects small and big alike--a bug is given as much attention as the sea, for instance. dude, she is not getting any reading done on that book, nice song doe

We, uh, didn't ask for a life update...
thats very sweet, im happy you were able to have that trip. thank you for sharing 🐈

Amen.
Found this song last year and it’s such a great driving song for summer, I love it. I wish it was longer haha, I hit replay a few times on occasion.
